Installation, Operation and Maintenance for ATEX Approved Model SAS-16 Magnicator II Limit Switch Specialists in Liquid Level Indication Section: Bulletin: Date: Supersedes: M500 M500.28 02/23/2009 11/29/2006 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The Jerguson model SAS-16 is a snap action magnetic level switch and has been designed to operate as a point level switch for magnetic liquid level gauges. Please read this manual in its entirety before installing the switch. Switch housing, nipple, and enclosure (when applicable) are constructed of aluminum. Note: All installation steps should be performed by a qualified technician and should be performed in accordance with all applicable national and local codes. INSTALLATION : CAUTION: Verify that area is free of flammables before installation. To mount the SAS-16 switch, tighten the provided hose clamps around both the mounting bracket ears and Magnicator II chamber. (See picture page 2.) The set point may be changed by simply loosening the clamps and sliding the switch to the desired level. Note: The “T” must be visible from the top view of the switch for the switch to be in its correct orientation. SUPPLIED WITH FLYING LEADS: Part # A26617-CE and A25569-CE The switch can be wired as a form C switch as shown below. SUPPLIED WITH JERGUSON JUNCTION BOX: Part # A26044-CE and A26044-CE-GC FROM SWITCH FIELD WIRES MAINTENENCE With either the flying leads or the junction box, it is recommended that the switch enclosure not be opened or dismantled. When the float rises above the activation level the switch changes states. The switch will remain in this state until the float goes below the activation line. The contacts are considered in a normal state when the magnetic float is below the centerline of the switch. If the switch is not provided with a terminal strip enclosure, then the two RED (A) wires connect to the Normally Open contact and the two BLACK (B) wires connect to the Normally Closed contact.
