T3 Topway SZP Single Zone Pack 1. General 1.1 This Pack has been specifically designed to extend an existing high temperature central heating system (such as radiator central heating) with a single zone underfloor heating system. It includes the key components required to both connect the underfloor heating and control it:
U9700090 – T3 UFH Control Group This has a mixing valve to reduce the water temperature for the underfloor heating circuit and a circulating pump to ensure that the water flow is correct for the underfloor heating.
01296712 – Single Loop Manifold This is a Topway T2 manifold which allows the connection of a single underfloor heating circuit and includes a flowmeter, drain/ fill valves and automatic air vents
02012038 – Pipe mounted thermostat. This initiates operation of the underfloor heating by detecting when the central heating is in operation, and up to a suitable temperature
02001014 – Termec room thermostat with LED This controls the temperature of the zone heated by the underfloor heating, the LED indicating when it is calling for heat
01213250 – Four-wire electrothermic head This is fitted to the Single Loop Manifold and is controlled by the pipe thermostat and the room thermostat. The head has an auxiliary switch which switches the pump in the T3 Control Group on, when underfloor heating is initiated by the pipe and room thermostats.
1.2 The pack is supplied as separate items, each with its own installation instructions. This overview is intended to show how the T3 Control Group, Single Loop Pack and electrothermic head fit together, together with the electrical wiring to enable the Single Zone Pack to operate effectively. 1.3 As supplied it is designed to connect to the left hand side of the Single Loop Manifold. The control set can also be altered to fit to the right hand side of a manifold simply by removing the bracket clips and turning the control set elbows through 180 degrees using the union fittings at the top and bottom of the pump. The pump motor will need to be rotated through 180 degrees to minimise the space occupied by the control set and allow access to the electrical connection box. 1.4 Optional isolating ball valves are available, code 6066R006

4. Installation 4.1 T3 UFH Control Group and Single Loop Manifold
Using the installation instructions provided, assemble the automatic air vents, drain and fill valves and blanking plugs to the Single Loop Manifold. Then connect the Control Group and manifold together with the swivel connectors provided on the Control Group. They may be assembled prior to wall mounting or the Single Loop Manifold mounted first and the T3 control Group added later. A special spanner is available for use with the swivel joints, code U9760010.
Connect the pipework to the manifold using the Monoblocco connectors for the specific type and size of pipe being used.
The electrothermic head should be connected to the manifold once the underfloor heating system has been filled and the circuit commissioned as directed in the manifold instructions.
T3 Topway SZP Single Zone Pack 4. Installation (continued) 4.2 Connecting the Electrical Controls
Please ensure that the wiring of the installation and any connections to and from the thermostats are in accordance with the latest edition of BS7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. The installation must be connected to the mains electrical supply through a switch capable of disconnecting all poles, compliant to the current safety standards and with a contact separation of 3mm in all poles. Before commencing work on the electrical installation, the electricity supply must be disconnected.

4.5 How it works This system can only work when the existing central heating system is calling for heat, and when the flow heating pipe (that the pipe thermostat is attached to) The thermostat should be positioned on the reaches 35°C. The pipe thermostat then pipework of the existing heating system signals to the SZP the water is now at a where it will be able to sense the temperature sufficient temperature to start operation. of the water in the system as it heats up. If at this point the single zone underfloor 4.4 Setting the pipe thermostat heating (UFH) room thermostat is also calling for heat (indicated by the red LED), It is suggested that the setting of the thermothe pump is actuated, and flow of warm stat should be set to approximately 35oC, the mixed water into UFH circuit starts. Please bottom end of the range of the mixing valve note, this can start at below the set UFH fitted to the T3 UFH Control Group. temperature, which may be 45°C for example. The higher temperature wall hung radiator central heating system temperature will continue to rise to in excess of the UFH set temperature. 4.3 Positioning the pipe thermostat The pipe thermostat is supplied complete with a spiral wire fastening to enable the thermostat to be connected to a pipe (see diagram below).
