Working around the sharp edges of the cylinderhead fins exposes your hands to injury. Wear protective gloves to prevent serious injury. NOTE: STEP 1
In the following instructions, left and right may be referred to as “clutch-side” (left) and “brake-side” (right) for clarity.
Read and understand all steps in the instructions before starting the installation. Park the motorcycle on a hard, level surface and turn off the ignition. Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool.
YOU WILL BE WORKING AROUND THE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM DURING INSTALLATION. ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM HAVE FULLY COOLED TO PREVENT INJURY. STEP 2 938-21MC-0913
Protect the front fender with a service cover or soft, clean towel.

TUBULAR-STYLE ENGINE GUARD INSTALLATION: PIC 1

Determine clutch-side (left) and brakeside (right) Tie-Down Brackets. PIC 1
STEP 4
Starting on the clutch-side, gently pull the rubber boot (PIC 2) away from the engine guard mount.

PIC 2 REMOVE THE TWO OEM BOLTS
STEP 5
Remove the two OEM bolts shown in PIC 2.
STEP 6
Slide the clutch-side (left) Tie-Down Bracket in between the engine guard weldment and the frame. PIC 3 SLIDE RUBBER BOOT AWAY FROM MOUNT

Insert the included M10 Bolts through the Split Lock Washers, Washers, engine guard weldment, Tie-Down Bracket and into the frame.
Thread both Bolts into the frame and
FT/LBS. STEP 9
torque the Bolts to 52
Slide the rubber boot back over the mount.

Repeat STEPS 4 through 8 for the brake-side (right).

SLIDE TIE-DOWN BEHIND THE ENGINE GUARD WELDMENT AS SHOWN
INSERT TWO INCLUDED BOLTS WITH THE HARDWARE. TORQUE TO 52 FT/LBS
Determine the left Tie Down Bracket from the right. PIC 1

STEP 11
Locate and remove the two OEM bolts in the clutch-side (left) forged engine guard. PIC 4.
STEP 12
Locate the engine PIC 5 guard’s lower mounting bolt. PIC 5 Loosen the bolt. DO NOT FULLY REMOVE THE BOLT. Loosening the bolt will make aligning the upper bolt holes easier.

STEP 13
Insert the included M10 Bolts through the Split Lock Washers, Washers, and Left Tie-Down Bracket. Place the included Spacers over the threaded ends of the bolts. PIC 6 PIC 6
STEP 14
Thread the front bolt into the front hole in the frame. Leave the bolt loose for now.
STEP 15
Thread the rear bolt into the rear hole in the frame.
TIP:

Use an open end wrench to start the rear bolt.
STEP 16
Fully tighten both bolts and
torque them to 52 FT/LBS.
STEP 17
Torque the lower mounting bolt (from STEP 12) to 52 FT/LBS.
STEP 18
Repeat STEPS 11 through 17 for the brake-side (right).

If installing this product for another party, please make sure they receive this copy of the installation instructions so they are aware of the important information contained in them.
It is the end user’s responsibility to ensure that all of the fasteners (including pre-assembled) are tightened before operation of the motorcycle. Küryakyn will not provide warranty coverage on products or components lost due to improper installation or lack of maintenance. Periodic inspection and maintenance are required on all fasteners.
Use only good quality RATCHET-type tie-down straps to secure you motorcycle. Ensure the straps have a weight rating sufficient to support your motorcycle. DO NOT USE straps that have tears, worn seams, cuts, abrasions, bent hooks, faulty ratchets, or unknown weight ratings to secure a motorcycle. Use only good quality wheel chocks designed for your type of motorcycle. Follow wheel chock manufacturer’s recommendations for securing your motorcycle to the trailer or motorcycle lift. Condor brand wheel chocks (Kuryakyn Part Number 920 or 922) are sold separately through Kuryakyn.com or your Kuryakyn dealer.
