Safety Instructions General Recommendations Read the safety and operating instructions before operating the display. Retain safety and operating instructions for future reference. Adhere to all warnings on the display and in the operating instructions manual. Follow all instructions for operation and use. Electrical shock
Type of protection (electrical): Class II equipment Degree of safety (flammable anesthetic mixture): Equipment not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide. Non-patient care equipment Equipment primarily for use in a health care facility that is intended for use where contact with a patient is unlikely. Power connection • The LCD Display is classified as a Class II Equipment but will be supplied from a power supply cord having three conductors. Functional earth used for internal screens separated from live

Preface parts by double or reinforded insulation will be connected to the protective earth contact of the mains plug. • Power requirements: The display must be powered by the AC mains voltage. • Power cords: Utilize a UL-listed detachable power cord, 3-wire, type SJ or equivalent, 18 AWG min., rated 300 V min., provided with a hospital-grade type plug 5-15P configuration for 120V application, or 6-15P for 240V application. • Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this may result in fire or electric shock. • Mains lead protection (U.S.: Power cord): Power cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked upon or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs and receptacles. Water and moisture Never expose the display to rain or moisture. Never use the display near water - e.g. near a bathtub, washbasin, swimming pool, kitchen sink, laundry tub or in a wet basement. Ventilation Do not cover or block the ventilation openings in the cover of the set. When installing the display in a cupboard or another closed location, heed the necessary space between the set and the sides of the cupboard. Installation Place the display on a flat, solid and stable surface that can support the weight of at least 3 displays. If you use an unstable cart or stand, the display may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the equipment. More warnings in the Installation chapter.

Preface Operating precautions Continuous operation of the display with the same image may result in some image sticking on the LCD panel. Over 10 hours operation with the same image content is not recommended. Switching on DPMS on display and PC and activating a good screen saver may decrease the risk of image sticking (image retention). Overview
Overview Introduction Thank you for choosing Barco. MVGD 1319 display The MVGD 1319 is an 19-inch grayscale LCD display with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. Its high-brightness, combined with image crispness and excellent viewing angle, makes it an ideal solution for a multitude of medical applications and environments. Long-term stabilization The display contains a Backlight Output Stabilization system (BLOS©), which continuously stabilizes the luminance output of the LCD’s backlight. This improves the overall optical efficiency and provides longterm image confidence. Ambient Light Compensation (ALC) When enabled, the ALC system automatically adapts the display light output, depending on the ambient light in the room. The ambient light is measured by the ALC optical sensor located at the front of the display. Power saving The display is equipped with a power saving system. When left idle for a certain time, the computer connected to the display, will power down the display. The power saving system can be switched on or off using the on-screen display. The power saving system works with the standard Windows power saving and with the DPMS function on the Barco BarcoMed display controller (if installed in the PC).

1. Ambient Light (ALC) sensor. When ALC is switched on, the display light output is adapted automatically, depending on the ambient light measured by the sensor. 2. Power LED The LED is off when the display is disconnected from the power. The LED is also off when the LED function is disabled in the onscreen display (OSD). The LED is green when the display is on (when enabled in the onscreen menus). The LED is orange when the display is in Stand-by power-saving mode. 3. Control wheel The control wheel can be pressed like a push button and rotated like a knob. It allows to put the display in stand-by, navigate through the onscreen display (OSD) menus and change values in the OSD.

Installation Precautions • Keep your original packaging. It is designed for this display and is the ideal protection during transport. • Avoid reflections in the flat panel to reduce eye strain. • Place the display on a strong and stable table or desk (desktop version). • Keep the display away from heat sources and provide enough ventilation around the display. • Do not scratch or apply pressure to the LCD panel. This may damage the panel permanently.
Display installation Power connection To connect the power: 1. To get access to the connectors, remove the connector compartment cover by pulling down the 2 clips at the longest side of the cover. 2. Connect one end of the proper power cable to the AC input of the display.

Video connection The display accepts 3 different video formats: DVI-I, VGA (analog) and BNC (analog, only for monochrome video signals). You can connect one or all of these inputs. If more than 1 input is connected you can switch inputs by using the display’s on-screen display. Connecting DVI signals 1. Connect one end of the DVI cable to the DVI input of the display.

2. Connect the other end of the DVI cable to the DVI connector of the signal source. Connecting analog video to the VGA connector Proceed as follows: 1. Connect one end of the VGA cable to the D15 input of the display.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the analog video output of the signal source. Note: If you connect an analog video signal, you may need to perform some image adjustments to obtain optimum image quality. Please refer to chapter “Operation”. Connecting analog video to the BNC inputs The video signal must be monochrome. You should use a proper video cable (e.g., from VGA to BNC). This cable is not delivered with the system. Proceed as follows: 1. Connect one end of the signal cable to the analog video output (monochrome) of the signal source. 2. Connect the Video signal to the display’s BNC input labeled “Video” (2). 3. In case of separate video and sync signals, connect the horizontal or composite sync signal to the display’s BNC input labeled “HS/ CS” (3). 4. In case of separate video and sync signals, connect the vertical sync signal to the display’s BNC input labeled “VS” (4).

Note: If you connect an analog video signal, you may need to perform some image adjustments to obtain optimum image quality. Please refer to chapter “Operation”.
Cable routing Routing the signal cables • Bind the cables in the connector compartment together with the cable tie inside the connector compartment. • Put the connector compartment cover back on the display. Pay attention that the signal cables are positioned under the bulge in the cover.
Attaching the display to an arm stand The panel is compatible with the VESA 100 mm standard. So it can be used with an arm stand according to the VESA 100 mm standard. Important: • Use an arm that is approved by VESA (according to the VESA 100 mm standard). • Use an arm that can support a weight of at least 13 kg (28.66 lbs).

Operation Operating precautions Continuous operation of the display with the same image may result in some image sticking on the LCD panel. Over 10 hours operation with the same image content is not recommended. Switching on DPMS on display and PC and activating a good screen saver may decrease the risk of image sticking (image retention).
Stand-by switching When the display is on and no on-screen display is visible, push the control wheel at the front for a few seconds to switch the display in stand-by. The LED turns orange.

About the On-Screen Display (OSD) There are two methods to control the display To control the display you can use: • Quick OSD: To quickly access the most important controls. • Extended OSD: To access all the display controls. The extended OSD can be used in two modes: standard and advanced (see further). About the Quick OSD • The Quick OSD contains a number of important adjustment menus that you can access directly, without scrolling through all the menus of the Extended OSD. • In the Advanced OSD (see the chapter about the Advanced OSD functions) you can determine which menus will appear in the Quick OSD. • When the on-screen display (OSD) is not on the screen, press the control wheel shortly to display the Quick OSD. The icon of the first menu in the Quick OSD appears. • If you wish to select another menu, rotate the control wheel again until the icon of the desired menu appears. • When the icon of the desired menu is on the screen, press the control wheel to enter into the menu. • Rotate the control wheel again to perform the adjustment. • When done, press the control wheel shortly to confirm the change and return to the menu. • To exit the Quick OSD, simply leave the control knob untouched for a few seconds.

The content of the OSD depends on the selected video input: A number of functions is not present when you have selected a digital video input signal, because the digital video signal requires less adjustment than the analog video signal. It is indicated throughout this manual if a function is not present when digital video is selected.

The extended OSD can be used in standard and advanced mode. The extended OSD appears default in standard mode. For instructions about the advanced mode, please refer to the chapter “Advanced OSD functions” on page 37. How to navigate through the Extended OSD 1. When the OSD is not on the screen, rotate the control wheel to display the Extended OSD. The main menu appears. 2. To enter into a menu: First, rotate the control wheel to select the desired menu. To change an adjustment value (e.g., in contrast, brightness, luminance, some geometry and phase adjustments), rotate the control wheel to select the adjustment and press the wheel shortly. The adjustment name and value are highlighted. Rotate the wheel to change the value. Next, click the wheel shortly to confirm the change and exit the adjustment mode. 5. To select a value from a predefined list (e.g., Input Selection), rotate the control wheel to select the desired menu and press the control wheel shortly. The list of possible selections appears. Rotate the wheel to select the desired item and click shortly. The new selection is indicated with a “V” mark at the right. Next, rotate the wheel to select “Exit” and click shortly to return to the menu.

Operation 6. To toggle between an On and Off setting (e.g., in Settings), rotate the control wheel to select the setting and press the control wheel to toggle between On and Off. How to save changes When you have changed something and you wish to exit from the main menu, the display asks if you wish to save the changes. The menu header indicates the Preset to which the change is saved. Save Changes? (Preset x) Yes No
1. Rotate the control wheel to select Yes (to save the changes) or No (if you do not wish to save the changes). Tip: The selected line is displayed in a darker shade of gray. 2. Press the control wheel to confirm the choice.
Adjustments for a digital video signal What to adjust if a digital video signal is connected and selected? In most cases, no adjustments are necessary when a digital video signal is connected and selected. However, if necessary, you can perform manual adjustments. Please refer to the description of the OSD functions further in this manual.
Adjustments for an analog video signal What to adjust if an analog video signal is connected and selected? The first time you connect an analog video signal to the display, you need to perform the Autosetup function (see below). Additionally, if necessary you can also perform manual adjustments. Please refer to the description of the OSD functions further in this manual.

Autosetup adjustment When do you need to use the Autosetup function? • The first time you use the display with analog video connected. • After connecting or selecting another analog video source (e.g., changing the PC resolution). • In case you notice the image geometry or positioning is not as desired. Required test pattern To obtain good results, the image on screen during the Autosetup function should meet the following requirements: • The edges of the image should have an intensity of at least 15% video amplitude. E.g., a Windows desktop pattern would be a good image, provided the background is not too dark. • The image should contain sharp black-white transitions, like a line pattern or characters. • The image should contain parts that are completely black (0% video amplitude) and parts that are full white (100% video amplitude). To perform Autosetup: 1. Rotate the control wheel to display the on-screen display. The Main Menu appears. The Autosetup menu is selected. 2. Press the control wheel to enter the Autosetup menu. Operation Autosetup The Autosetup menu is not available for digital video signals. Name

Perform all Autosetup functions (below) one after another
Phase
Adjust the video sampling phase automatically. This is necessary when you notice vertical or horizontal banding or noise in the image.
Geometry
Adjust the image geometry automatically. This function displays the complete active video in the center of the screen. If the video resolution is smaller than the native panel resolution and no scaling is selected (see further), it puts black borders around the active video window. If the video resolution is larger than the native panel resolution and no scaling is selected, the edges of the image will be lost.
Gain Offset
Adjust the video levels (black and white) automatically
When do you need to use the Autosetup function? • The first time you use the display with analog video connected. • After connecting or selecting another analog video source (e.g., changing the PC resolution). • In case you notice the image geometry or positioning is not as desired. Required test pattern To obtain good results with the Autosetup functions, it is necessary to have a good image on which to perform the functions. E.g., a maximized Windows Explorer window would be a good image.

Contrast Contrast adjusts the brightest elements in the image on the screen, while the darkest elements are not adjusted. Note: Adjusting contrast may affect the number of grayscales in the image. If the contrast is too high or too low, some bright or dark elements in the image may become invisible. To select the center position of the adjustment (value 127), click and hold the control wheel for a few seconds. Brightness Brightness adjusts all levels in the image on the screen, from dark to bright. Note: Adjusting brightness may affect the number of grayscales in the image. If the brightness is too high or too low, some bright or dark elements in the image may become invisible. Instead, if you feel the image is too bright or too dark, try adjusting the Luminance (see further). To select the center position of the adjustment (value 127), click and hold the control wheel for a few seconds.

Operation Luminance Luminance adjusts the overall luminance (light output) of the display. It does not affect the grayscales of the image on the screen. When Ambient Light Compensation (ALC) is switched on, the (manual) luminance adjustment will not work. Instead, the OSD shows ‘ALC Active’. ALC can be switched on/off in the Settings menu (see further). Adjustments: Geometry

Select the desired scaling option. None: The image is not scaled. Best Fit: The image is scaled proportionally (keeping the original aspect ratio) to obtain the largest possible image. Full: The image is scaled non-proportionally (the original aspect ratio may be lost) to fill the screen completely. Programmable: You can manually scale the image by defining a horizontal scale and a zoom factor. The zoom factor scales the image both horizontally and vertically.

This is the same function as in the Autosetup menu
Frequency
Adjust the video sampling frequency. This is necessary when you notice abnormal vertical banding, which can be seen best on a dot on/dot off pattern. The figure in the OSD is the total number of pixels per line (active + blanking).

Adjust the video sampling phase manually. However, we recommend you use the Automatic Phase function.

Switch on/off the Ambient Light Compensation (ALC) system. When switched on, ALC adjusts the display luminance constantly, based on the ambient light around the display.

Advanced OSD functions Introduction Important The functions described in this chapter are intended for trained service staff only! Improper use of these functions may cause the display to not function correctly. Barco cannot be held responsible for the results or damage caused by improper use of these functions. About the Advanced functions The advanced functions are extensions of the standard OSD. By default, a user browsing through the OSD sees only the standard functions. When logged in in advanced mode, the user sees the standard and advanced functions in the OSD menus. To log in as advanced user: 1. Enter the main menu. 2. Rotate the control wheel to select the menu item EXIT. 3. Press and hold the control wheel for a few seconds until the OSD main menu is refreshed on the screen. You have now logged in as advanced user. This is indicated in the main menu heading.

Advanced functions in the Adjustments menu Low Pass Filter This function is not available for digital video signals. The display electronics provide 4 different low-pass filter settings to filter possible high-frequent distortion from an analog video signal. Select a different filter setting in case the image contains high-frequent noise or distortion. Select the filter setting that gives the best result. Readjustment of sample phase is necessary after selection of a different filter. Geometry: Active Input Region When a video signal is connected, the display looks for a matching format in its VESA table. The VESA table contains the starting position (first line of the frames and first pixel of the lines) of the active video and the length of the active video (number of lines per frame and number of pixels per line). When there is no match with one of the formats in the table, the nearest format is chosen, possibly resulting in a not-perfectly aligned image. The user can align the image using the Automatic Geometry function. However, in some cases the user is not satisfied with the image after Automatic Geometry, or the video signal itself does not meet the requirements for a successful Automatic Geometry. In that case the user can manually define the active video region to display, creating offsets to the settings chosen by the display. In order to use these adjustments successfully, the scaling setting is preferably be set to None. The following offset adjustments are available:

This function allows you to make an offset to the start (left) position of the active video. As you adjust this value, another pixel will be chosen as starting pixel. The active line width is not changed by this adjustment. As a visual result, the image moves horizontally.
Right offset
This function allows you to make an offset to the end (right) position of the active video. As you adjust this value, another pixel will be chosen as last pixel per line. This adjustment alters the active line width. Remark that the active video is always centered on the screen while this adjustment is made.
Top offset
This function allows you to make an offset to the start (top) line of the active video. As you adjust this value, another line will be chosen as first line.
Bottom offset
This function allows you to make an offset to the end (bottom) line of the active video. As you adjust this value, another line will be chosen as last line.
Note: If you execute an Automatic Geometry function after these adjustments, all manual offsets will be erased.

Glossary Calibration Each display is calibrated in the factory before it is sent to the customer. After this calibration, black and white luminance are set to the ideal level. A stabilization routine, constantly active when the display is on, keeps these levels constant using the built-in sensor.

Technical Information Display Function A Display Function describes how a display device converts the video signals at the inputs into light. In the context of a medical viewing station, a display device is the combination of display controller (graphics board) and display. The display function is a graph that shows how the light from the display panel evolves from minimum to maximum luminance while the data levels at the input of the display controller go from 0 to maximum. DICOM DICOM stands for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. It is a standard developed by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). The standard specifies how digital image data can be moved from system to system. In addition, Supplement 28 Part 14 specifies a function that relates pixel values to displayed Luminance levels and is called Grayscale Standard Display Function. Presets and Internal memory system The memory of the display contains minimum 70 fixed and 59 programmable Presets. When you connect a video signal, the display checks in the memory for a matching Preset. If it finds one, it selects the corresponding settings and parameters from the memory. If it does not find a matching Preset, the display uses default settings to display the image. When you make adjustments and save the changes, the current Preset is saved as programmable Preset. If this happens while all programmable Presets are occupied, the oldest programmable Preset is overwritten automatically.

Warranty Statement BARCO MID GENERAL WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS Applicable from Jan 1st 2008
ARTICLE 1: PRODUCT WARRANTY Barco nv, Medical Imaging Division warrants that the equipment will be free of defects in workmanship or material for the warranty period or the specific period of a warranty extension program. Hardware: Barco warrants that upon delivery hereunder the Products shall (i) conform to its specifications in effect at the date of delivery and (ii) be free from defects in material and workmanship (the "Warranties"). Software: Barco warrants that software written by Barco shall perform substantially in accordance with the specifications in effect at the date of delivery. Software is inherently susceptible to bugs and errors. Barco makes no warranties with respect to the software which is provided to Customer on an "as-is" basis and does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Products. Unless otherwise indicated in Barco’s Product manual or in the agreement between Barco and Customer, the Warranty Period shall be (a) Hardware: 12 months commencing on the Barco date of invoice. (b) Software: 3 months commencing on the Barco date of invoice. Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 2, repair and replacement of defects in material and/or workmanship under this warranty shall be accomplished in our works according to the terms and conditions as set forth hereafter: 1.1 Any claim under the Warranties must be notified to Barco in writing within 8 days from the date the defect or failure has been discovered or noticed the first time. The Customer, upon the occurrence of any equipment failure, shall contact Barco nv, MID customer support centre (or an authorised service centre) by telephone, fax or e-mail and shall provide the applicable customer support person with a complete description of the problem being encountered, including the model and serial number of the equipment in which the problem has arisen. 1.2 The customer support person shall diagnose the problem experienced by the Customer and shall advise the Customer on how to proceed. Customer support may ask to return the faulty equipment or faulty subassemblies to the Barco nv, or a MID customer support centre (or an authorised service centre) for repair activities. In no event shall Customer return a defective Product or part thereof to Barco without Barco's prior written approval. In the event the return to Barco of the defective Product is authorized by Barco, Barco shall issue to Customer an RMA (Return Material Authorization). The Customer shall apply for an RMA number to the closest Barco nv, MID Customer support centre (or an authorised service centre) as listed at www.barcomedical.com, unless otherwise indicated. The one-way cost of packing, transport and insurance related to shipping the alleged defective Product

Warranty Statement or part to Barco for repair or replacement shall be borne by Customer. The one-way cost of packing, transport and insurance related to shipping of the repaired or replacement Product or part to Customer shall be borne by Barco. 1.3 The Customer shall return, freight prepaid, the defective equipment or subassemblies in its original packaging with the assigned RMA number for repair to the Barco nv, MID Customer support centre (or an authorised service centre). 1.4 Replacement parts used shall be new or equivalent to new parts for the revision level of the equipment. A replacement LCD panel will be new or similar run time. The warranty period for the replacement parts will expire at the same moment as the original warranty period of the equipment. All parts replaced hereunder and returned to Barco nv, MID (or an authorised service centre) shall become the property of Barco nv, MID (or the authorised service centre). 1.5 The repaired equipment shall be returned to the Customer, by regular freight, at Barco nv, MID’s charge. 1.6 Barco nv, MID will replace a product that fails within 90 days after shipment from Barco with a new one, ensuring color matching in the event of a diagnostic multi head display configuration. Barco aims to ship the new replacement product within 2 business days after receipt of the Customers notification in writing.
ARTICLE 2: CONDITIONS PRECEDENT FOR WARRANTY AND ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY A. The Warranties shall apply only to the extent the Products or any parts thereof have (i) been transported and stored at all times in the original packaging in the conditions as specified by Barco (such as covered and secure location, minimum and maximum temperature, maximum humidity, …) or, in absence thereof, at least in conditions consistent with generally accepted practice for this type of products; (ii) been handled at all times in accordance with Barco's instructions or, in absence thereof, at least with the care and caution consistent with generally accepted practice for this type of products; (iii) been installed strictly in accordance with the instructions and directions given by Barco (if and to the extent the Products have not been installed by Barco or its authorized subcontractors); (iv) thereto;
not been subject to any unauthorized access, alteration, modification or repair or attempts
(v) been at all times "normally used" for the intended purpose and operated in strict accordance with the operating instructions set forth in the operating manual of the Product in question and shall not have been otherwise misused, abused, damaged. For the purpose hereof, "normally used" shall mean a regular, ordinary and routine usage of the Product in question as intended and/or recommended by Barco; (vi) been maintained at all times in accordance with Barco's instructions or, in absence thereof, at least with intervals and in a manner consistent with generally accepted practice for this type of

The warranty described herein shall not include the following: 2.1 Any hardware or software item procured from a source other than Barco nv, MID or their official agent or distributor and integrated by Customer or a third party into Barco nv, MID supplied equipment. 2.2 Any host configuration not explicitly supported by Barco nv, MID. 2.3 All software installed on the system, whether they are acquired from Barco nv, MID or third party. An exception is made for software delivered by Barco nv, MID that would prove to be a cause for the mal functioning of the hardware covered under this Agreement. 2.4 Normal wear and tear, use under circumstances exceeding specifications, such as use in dusty environment or under excessive temperature conditions, abuse, unauthorised repair or alternation, lack of proper configuration or maintenance, damaged or modified or removed serial number, cosmetic refurbishment. 2.5 Repair or replacement of consumables1 or specific parts that by definition are subject to wear and tear, including but not limited to: a.CRT’s, LCD panels b.Backlights in diagnostic LCD displays, when the backlight run time2 is beyond the Guaranteed Backlight Lifetime3 of that model, when used at the Factory Calibrated Luminance4 Eg1. •

Barco nv, MID does not warrant a minimum life time nor a performance of any of the consumables. 2.6 Replacement of moveable parts such as power cords, remote controls, … 2.7 Any product disassembly and installation costs at the operation site, travel expenses and travel time to and from the operation site for the personnel in charge of the repair works and transport charges. 2.8 Any failures resulting from an accident, negligence (such as but not limited to removing or deleting system files & licensed software product files), misuse, circuit failure or any change, damage due to fire, water, thunder or lightning, power failure or fluctuation, disruption of communication lines or due to force majeure, or any reason foreign to the equipment. 2.9 Any specific services or procedures, asked for by Customer, related to verification of repaired equipment. 2.10 The evaluation cost in case of a returned product deemed functional is not covered under warranty and will be charged to the Customer, at Barco’s sole discretion, based on a case-by-case evaluation.
ARTICLE 3: OBLIGATIONS OF THE CUSTOMER Customer hereby assumes the following obligations as partial consideration for Barco nv, MID performance of its requirements under the warranty condition; failure by Customer to meet its obligations under this paragraph shall excuse Barco nv, MID’s performance hereunder:

Warranty Statement 3.1 Customer shall not expose Barco nv, MID personnel to any unsafe working conditions. 3.2 Repairs to equipment under warranty resulting from improper maintenance or repair performed by the Customer, or its officers, agents, employees, or representatives, shall be borne by the Customer at its additional cost and expense. 3.3 The Customer is responsible for installing the Barco nv, MID equipment in an environment for which it was intended. If there is an indication that the equipment was used – even temporary – outside its specifications, Barco nv, MID is entitled not to perform warranty repairs and terminate the warranty agreement. Any actions that have been taken by Barco nv, MID in this respect, may be invoiced to the Customer at normal pricing.
ARTICLE 4: REMEDIES UNDER WARRANTY (a) Hardware: If during the Warranty Period a Product or any part thereof, fails to meet any of the Warranties then, upon Customer's request, Barco shall, at its sole option and cost, promptly and within 20 working days, either: (i) repair or correct the Product or part in question; or (ii) replace the Product or supply part(s) or component(s) according to the terms and conditions contained in article 1. A replacement part shall be at least functionally equivalent to the original part. The replaced Product, parts and/or components shall become the property of Barco and shall, at Barco's request, be returned by Customer to Barco at Barco's cost. (b) Software: Barco's sole obligation shall be to rectify substantial malfunctions of the software (to the extent technically reasonably possible) by amending the software or supplying an alternative version of the software. (c)
The repair or replacement under the Warranties covers the cost of material and labor.
ARTICLE 5: DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES BARCO NV, MID DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
ARTICLE 6: LIMITATION OF LIABILITY BARCO NV, MID SHALL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE LIABLE TO CUSTOMER OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF TANGIBLE OR INTANGIBLE PROPERTY OR EQUIPMENT, LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, COST OF CAPITAL, COST OF PURCHASE OF REPLACEMENT GOODS, OR CLAIMS OF CUSTOMERS OF USER FOR SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS. THE LIABILITY OF BARCO NV, MID FOR MANUFACTURING, SALE, DELIVERY, RESALE, INSTALLATION, OPERATION OR SUITABILITY FOR USE OF ANY PRODUCTS OR SERVICES COVERED BY OR FURNISHED UNDER THIS WARRANTY CONDITION, WHETHER ARISING OUT OF CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT TORT, WARRANTY OR OTHERWISE, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT OR ANY PART THEREOF WHICH SHALL BE AT CUSTOMER'S SOLE OPTION AND COST. BARCO’S LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE PRICE OF THE ITEM OR ITEMS OF GOODS OR SERVICES UPON WHICH SUCH LIABILITY IS BASED.
ARTICLE 7: FORCE MAJEURE Either party shall be released from performance of its obligations under this agreement to the extent, and for so long as, the performance of this agreement is impeded by reason of force majeure. For the

Warranty Statement purposes of this clause the expression "force majeure" means, but shall not be limited to, industrial dispute, fire, mobilisation, requisition, embargo, currency transfer prohibitions, insurrection, lack of means of transport, restrictions of the use of energy, and generally any circumstances which are beyond the control of the parties and hinder performance by one party of his obligations.
ARTICLE 8: GENERAL 8.1 Customer acknowledges its understanding that all software and electronic devices, including Barco nv, MID products are subject to possible error, mechanical or electrical failure, and should not be relied upon in inappropriate applications or without proper backup and/or other safety precautions whenever personal injury or property damage may result from failure or error of the product. 8.2 Barco nv, MID shall not be responsible for machine failure and/or its failure to render service or maintenance due to causes beyond its reasonable control.
