Active odour pearls that serve as odour filters are located in the bag. They absorb the odour directly at its source. lt holds a large capacity volume of 3,5 liters. Its exclusive Dovina Fragrance Chips keep bad smells right where they are formed, only inside the bag. A fresh, clean scent spreads across the air. Hygiene Microfilter The Hygiene Microfilter is not only important for allergy sufferers. lt is also a means of prevention for non-allergy sufferers. 8 The Hygiene Microfilter retains more than 99.97% of particles larger than 0.0003 mm, such as viruses, suspended materials mite excrements and smoke. As a result, the air filtered through the VK 136 is cleaner than the air in the room. The Hygiene Microfilter is a HEPA filter class 11 according to norm EN 1822, certified by the DMT institute, Essen, Germany. Assembling the VK 136 for floor cleaning Inserting the telescopic rod handle: Insert the telescopic rod handle into the lower handle until it be heard to click into place. Attaching the cable: Insert the appliance plug into the electrical connection outlet in the lower handle until is fully engaged. 9 Press the flat side of the cable into cable canal of the telescopic rod handle. You can adjust the length of the telescopic rod handle with the release button. In this way, the VK 136 can be adapted to the body sizes of different users. Press the release button to remove the telescopic rod handle. Connection of the and other: Accessory parts: Please remove the blue protective film from the floor plate of the EB 360 first, then insert the VK 136 into the joint nozzle of the EB 360 until it clicks into place. Both devices are now ready for operation. 10 For your safety: Prior to removing the EB 360 or other accessories, switch off the appliance and remove the electrical plug from the electrical outlet. The suction nozzle of your VK 136 is slanted so that you can use it to directly vacuum up larger particles. Assembling the VK 136 for floor cleaning (cont.) Removal of the EB 360 and other accessory parts: To remove the accessories, press the release button on the lower side of the VK 136 and remove the accessory. lf you are using the remote release, place the accessory on the floor so that it cannot fall out. In the event you completely remove the appliance cable, please remember to insert the appliance electrical plug in the corresponding electrical connection outlet prior to using again. This is located on the lower left side of the handle. 11 Vacuuming with the Electronic Brush EB 360 The EB 360 has its own motor that drives its round brushes for carpet cleaning that is particularly thorough. The EB 360 is suitable for the cleaning of all carpets and rugs. With highly fluffy and loosely woven woolen carpets and Berber-like rugs, an increase in the frictional wear of the fabric can occur under certain circumstances. Attention! Fleeces, fringes and less robust carpets (e.g., Silk carpets, carpets with fibres twisted among themselves (Saxony)) should not be vacuumed with the EB 360 . Connecting : Remove the electrical cable from the cable holder by turning downwards. Insert the plug into the outlet. Switching on and off: This is done with the sliding switch on the handle, with which you can also set the desired suction performance power. Each time the VK 136 is switched on, it initially runs a self-test of all performance levels up to the maximum performance setting <3> and then resets itself to the prescribed level. Attention! The VK 136 is a very powerful appliance. Most carpets are optimally cleaned at the performance setting <1> Depending upon the carpet, you can also select the performance setting <2>. If your carpet is heavily soiled, you can also vacuum at the performance setting <3>. However, when vacuuming at this performance setting, the VK 136 is somewhat more difficult to push over the carpet. In the event that the EB 360 is difficult to push over your carpet, it is possible that you have selected a performance setting that is too high. Please switch to level <1> in this case. 12 Vacuuming with the Electronic Brush EB 360 (cont.) You can clean your carpets and rugs most effectively with the VK 136 and EB 360 by slowly pushing and pulling back and forth. Two times back and forth is sufficient for cleaning in this instance. The EB 360 vacuums at the front and at the sides up to its edge. Attention! So as to avoid streaks streaks on walls and furniture, avoid pressing too firmly against them or along them when vacuuming. You should only vacuum carpet borders parallel to the edges. Attention! Never allow the appliance to operate for a longer period on a single spot since this could damage the carpet. If you want to vacuum carpet fringes, you should only pull backwards over the fringes away from the carpet. The VK 136 reaches hard-to-reach spots effortlessly due to its rotating and tilting joint nozzle. For vacuuming under furniture with reduced floor access swivel both appliances fully flat against the floor. For your safety: Never run the EB 360 over the electrical cable as this could result in cable damage. Attention! Never allow the appliance to operate for a longer period on a single spot since this could damage the carpet. Your VK 136 adapts to the greatest variety of working conditions and the body size of the user: By adjustment… ...or through removal of the telescopic rod handle. To this end, first remove the appliance cable from the cable canal and then remove the telescopic rod handle. If the appliance plug becomes disconnected while doing this, please reinsert it into the lower handle and use the main switch located there. 13 Vacuuming with the Electronic Brush EB 360 (Cont.) Parking: In the parking position, the EB 360 switches itself off automatically. In this way, you can interrupt the vacuuming process shortly in order to place or life an object to the side, for example, without switching off the VK 136. The VK 136 then remains at the selected performance setting. The VK 136 and EB 360 can stand together on their own. For this, stand the vacuum cleaner vertically until the joint nozzle snaps into place. Be sure under all circumstances to ensure that the cable does not create a tripping hazard and that the telescopic rod handle is leaning slightly forward. Otherwise, the appliances could tip over. Transporting: The VK 136 and the EB 360 can be comfortably transported in the parking position. Simply tip and roll. To continue vacuuming, you only have to press the EB 360 against the floor with the foot. 14 Carpet dry cleaning with the Electronic Brush EB 360 and Lavenia For your safety: The Freshener Kit is a system that is specially designed for dry cleaning with Lavenia powder only. Appling the Freshener Kit in combination with any such agents can cause electric shocks and may lead to serious injuries! Prepare the carpet prior to actual cleaning by vacuuming thoroughly with the EB 360 power brush with the black roller brushes inserted. Tip: Test a small patch of hidden carpet to see how it reacts to the Lavenia. To clean rugs and carpets, spread Lavenia as evenly as possible over the surface. Follow the instructions on the packet carefully. Do not use more than one packet at once. The carpet may still be trodden on during the cleaning process. Tip: Do not use on needleloom carpeting. Also the cleaning effect cannot be increased by using more Lavenia at once. Attention: To modify the EB 360 Power Brush into the Dry Cleaner you must first unplug the machine and then lay it flat on the floor. Remove the black roller brushes and insert the dry cleaning cassettes (Freshener kit) with the brushes onto the drive shaft in accordance with the colour coding. Once this appliance has the dry cleaning cassettes with brushes correctly fitted, the suction motor will run at minimal speed. 15 Switch on the VK 136 and run it length by length over the treated surface. Then run it over the surface crosswise to the original direction. For your safety: Do not run over power cords. 16 Carpet dry cleaning with the Electronic Brush EB 360 and Lavenia (Cont.) Treat the carpet for up to 3 minutes per square metre, depending on how dirty it is and the pile height. To avoid damaging rugs when cleaning fringes and edges, ensure that the carpet dry cleaner is only run backwards from the edges of the rug, then lift it and reposition. The appliance may rub off more wool than usual if used on loosely woven wool rugs and berber carpeting. The amouth of force needed to move the cleaner across the floor depends on the depth of the pile. You will need to push a little harder over deep-pile rugs and carpets. Leave the carpet to absorb the product until the Lavenia snow is dry. This will take about 30 minutes, depending on the type of carpet and room temperature. The drier the Lavenia, the easier it is to remove it. Then re-insert the black roller brushes. Vacuum the dry Lavenia snow, which will by now have picked up the dirt. Do not worry if some product remains in the carpet; normal daily vacuuming will remove it in time. 17 Vacuuming hard floor with HD35 To assemble insert the VK 136 into the joint nozzle of the HD35 brush until it clicks into place. Then position the cable in the channel for telescopic pipe. The telescopic pipe may be adjusted by pressing the release button. The VK 136 may be adjusted to the height of its user. The HD35 is suitable for cleaning hard floors, waxed floors, parquet or ceramic tile. It has a flexible plate bristle, designed to handle hard to reach areas like corners, around furniture feet, under chairs and tight spaces. Features and Advantages: - Swiveling head for better use in corners - Oscillating movement allowing access everywhere and overcoming obstacles - Interchangeable bristle plate - Material resistant to collisions and scratches - Wheels for easier use - Parking positioning - Lighter, use friendly and easy to carry 18 Hardfloor cleaning and polishing with the PL 515 For your safety: Unplug the appliance before cleaning it or when exchanging beushes. For your safety: Do not move the PL 515 over the electric power cord or over other electrical wires present in the working area and never over any wet surfaces! Attention: When functioning, the appliance must not remain stationary in one place, but must always be moved forwards and backwards, particularly on sensitive floors such as parquet made of soft wood and linoleum. Do not use on cork-floors and do not try to increase the pressure of the appliance on the floor. Assembling: Attach the PL 515 by inserting the adjustable socket into the suction inlet of the VK 136 until it makes a firm connection. To detach press the release button (L or R) and pull. Tip: The machine is free-standing when put in the parking position (also see page14). Transport position In the parking position the entire unit is easy to transport, simply tilt and roll. Switching on Connect the VK 136 to the main power supply and switch on. For security reasons the PL 515 starts and stops working when the VK 136 has been tilted past a specific angle of inclination. Tip: Before switching on the PL 515 make sure there are no small stones under the machine. These could scratch the floor. 19 Hardfloor cleaning and polishing with the PL 515 (Cont.) Changing the brush sets For your safety: switch off and unplug the machine. When different brushes are needed for special cleaning or polishing. Place the PL 515 on the ground with the brushes facing downwards. Push the yellow release button so that the hoodhandgrip appears. The hood of the PL 515 can be folded open using the handgrip. Use the yellow ring to pull out the set and turn or replace the set with the desired Use the yellow ring to pull out the set and turn or replace the set with the desired surface facing downwards. Make sure that the yellow ring is placed in the same position. Now close the hood and push the handgrip downwards until clicks is heard. Hardfloor cleaning Daily use will prevent the formation and accumulation of dirt. The cleaning set has two sides for this purpose (with the white discs). The cleaning-brushes with the different bristle lengths can be used on all types of hardfloor except corkfloors. The bristles penetrate and thoroughly clean grooves, profiles and rough surfaces. They remove marks and dry residue of stains or that of non fatty dirt which has accumulated on the floor. Also optimal for the dry removal of the residual opaqueness from manual washing operations. 20 Power Pads Only for enamel ceramic tiles! The firm power pads remove even the most difficult dirt. Tip: Greasy or sugary dirt, such as dried up liquids etc., have to be removed by manual washing without using the PL 515. Polish hardfloors with the PL 515 For your safety: Never move the PL 515 over wet surfaces. Polishing pad To achieve a better optical effect and to obtain a glossy finish use the polishing pads and polish. One square meter should be worked on for about one minute, this also increases the durability of the wax coating. Attention: During functioning, the appliance must not remain stationary in one place, but must be moved forwards and backwards. Also do not try to increase the pressure of the appliance on the floor. 21 Using attachments for above floor areas with the VK 136 For your safety: Unplug appliance prior to connecting or changing brushes. Connecting the appliance plug: For working in the above-floor area, insert the appliance plug-in the event that you have removed this together with the rod handle- into the corresponding connection outlet on the appliance until it is fully in place. This is located on the upper left of the handle. Connecting the suction hose: Press the suction hose onto the suction nozzle of the VK 136 until it can be heard to click into place. Connecting the suction hose: Press the desired accessory part onto the handle of the suction hose until it can be heard to click into place. Switching on and off: with the main switch on your VK 136 you can rotate the switch to select the desired setting from <1> (optimum for most carpets) up to <3> (hard floors, needled felt, loopwoven goods). We also recommend the performance setting <> for the general place. 22 Attaching the carrying strap: Hook the carrying strap into the corresponding strap eyelet. These are located in the area of the Hygiene Microfilter exhaust screen and to the right on the upper housing. You can free textile fabrics as well as upholstery and mattresses from hairs, threads and fuzz with the textile attachment. The vario-attachment thoroughly vacuums dust from seams and gaps, in upholstery and mattresses and between furniture items, to name just a few. Its two joints allow a variety of adjustments, making your work particularly comfortable. For dust removal from radiators, Venetian blind blades and similar items, use the special Varioattachment connectable brush. 23 Using attachments for above floor areas with the VK 136 (Cont.) Soft attachment: for gentle dusting, pull the outer pipe away from the bristle ring. For energetic dusting, push the outer pipe forward over the bristles. The soft attachment, adjustable to 10 settings, is suitable for soft-to-energetic dusting. With the soft attachment, you can dust furniture and books… …picture frames… …stereos and profiled surfaces. Hard-to-reach spots can be reached with the telescopic pipe and its angled, rotating suction nozzle (with four lock-in positions). The telescopic pipe can be pulled out for extension. Attention! Switch off the lamp or chandelier prior to cleaning. Otherwise, it could melt the bristle ring. 24 Cleaning your mattress with the EB 360 and Lavenia For your safety : Unplug appliance prior to connecting or changing brushes. Remove the blue protective film from the floor plate of the EB 360 . Set the secondary switch of the VK 136 to power level 1. Then insert the VK 136 into the joint nozzle of the EB 360 until clicks into place. The appliance must be off while assembling it. Mattresses are cleaned with special white brushes equipped with small swivels. Please note: lf the node of the EB 360 is in vertical position, the rotation of the brushes is deactivated as not to damage the surface to be worked on. Meanwhile the VK 136 remains set at the selected power level. Reposition the lever to minimum power 1 prior to cleaning mattresses. To change the mattress brushes, turn the vacuum off and unplug the appliance. Press the yellow button on the top of the EB 360 and the front will unhook and open easily. For your safety: Never reach into the area of the rotating brush or touch the rotating brush itself as this could cause injury. 25 To clean the mattress you can use the lower handle of the VK 136 which allows for better handling. Please note: Set the VK 136 to the minimum power position 1 prior to cleaning mattresses. It is also possible to use the appliance with the regular handle, especially when covering larger surfaces like a double bed mattress. Remember to periodically check the brushes for wear out. New brushes may be re-ordered as needed. Lavenia and your mattress After cleaning your mattress with the EB 360 using the mattress brushes, insert the Freshener Kit in the EB 360 as described on page 17. Spread Lavenia dry-cleaning powder on the mattress as indicated on the package and turn on the VK 136. Please note : The VK 136 remains off when using it with the Freshener kit. Should this not occur, check that the Freshener Kit cassettes are inserted correctly to match color coding red to red to red and white to white. Should this not work, turn off the VK 136 and contact your sales associate. Only use Lavenia to dry-clean your mattress with the EB 360. Never use other brands liquids, foams or powders. Test Lavenia in a little visible area prior to use. Vacuum as indicated in Lavenia’s directions. Let Lavenia penetrate your mattress massaging it with the VK 136 for about 3 minutes per mattress, Open the windows and let Lavenia dry for approximately a half hour, depending on your mattress and the temperature of the room. When the surface is dry, vacuum up Lavenia with the VK 136 and the EB 360. Please note: Prior to doing the above action unplug the appliance and substitute the freshener Kit cassettes with the white swiveled mattress brushes. Set the secondary power switch to the minimum 1 when using the EB 360 with the swiveled mattress brushes. 26 Maintenance and care Changing the super Filter Fleece Bag and inserting the Dovina Fragrance chip The super filter fleece Bag is made of an especially high-performance material that ensures a long and consistent vacuuming performance. Active odour pearls that serve as odour filters are located in the bag. They absorb the odour directly at its source. If the suction performance display field is completely yellow, then the pores of the Super Filter Fleece Bag are blocked. The suction power performance will significantly reduced and thus the bag has to be changed. When the VK 136 is unusually loud as well, the Super filter fleece Bag should be changed as well. Attention: During a long period of vacuuming with a blocked filter bag, the VK 136 can switch into a higher performance setting due to overheating. The performance can then no longer be regulated. An air vent opens automatically and allows air into the interior of the motor. This significantly reduces the suction power performance and the VK 136 becomes louder. The performance can cool down the motor until the insertion of a new super Filter Fleece Bag. 27 Changing the Super Filter Fleece Bag For your safety: Remove the electrical plug each time before maintenance and cleaning! Changing the Super Filter Fleece Bag: Pull up on the yellow release button. Open the appliance and clap the filter cassette to the side. Pull the bag out by the plastic plate and throw it away. Do not reuse used bags. Due to the blocked pores, the VK 136 loses performance efficiency and can overheat. To insert a new Super Filter Fleece Bag, first place the bag’s plastic plate into the corresponding receptacle on the inner side. 28 Press the bag’s plastic plate under the wire bow until the plate can be heard to click into the filter cassette. Press the Dovina Fragrance Chip into the Super Filter Fleece bag plastic plate. Clap the filter cassette back onto the motor head. Ensure that it clicks firmly into place. This results in the automatic resetting of the suction power performance display. Now it is green again. Our tip: Order the Super Filter Fleece Bags and the Dovina fragrance chips (these are located on the super filter Fleece Bags) punctually. For your safety: Remove the electrical plug each time before maintenance and cleaning! Attention: lf there is a reduction in suction performance power, examine under all circumstances the super filter Fleece Bag, the motor protection filter and the Hygiene Microfilter and observe the handling instructions. 29 Caring for the motor protection filter The motor protection filter is important for the long life of your appliance. It protects the motor from soiling and can be cleaned when required. It does not need to be replaced. Exception: in the event that the Super Filter Fleece Bag breaks or the motor protection filter is heavily soiled, then you should clean it or even replace it. You can clean it by gently beating the dust out of it or running it under the water tap. Cleaning: Remove the motor protection filter, for this, open the appliance and clap the filter cassette to the side of the motor head. You will find the motor protection filter located directly next to the air flow opening. For your safety: Please ensure that you should not reinsert the motor protection filter when it is still damp. In order to avoid damages, you should never vacuum without the motor protection filter. When inserting the motor protection filter, please observe that you insert it exactly according to its form so that no air flows around it. Afterwards, clap the filter cassette back onto the motor head. 30 Changing the Hygiene Microfilter The Hygiene Microfilter is of particular importance for persons allergic to household dust but also for prevention with non-allergic person. It ensures that the air exhausted is cleaner than the air in the room. Exchange it following the use of an entire filter bag package (after approximately twelve months). Exchange the Hygiene Microfilter as well in the event of unusually heavy soiling, or for example if the Super Fleece Bag breaks, the motor protection filter is heavily soiled or in the event that you have unknowingly vacuumed without a Super Filter Fleece bag. Changing the Hygiene Microfilter: Insert your index finger in the corresponding depression of the exhaust screen on the left side of your appliance. Raise the flap and pull out the Hygiene Microfilter by the flap. Tip: A sticker can be affixed to the VK 136 where the date of first operation of the Hygiene Microfilter can be entered. In this way you can easily see when you need to replace it. 31 Push the new filter all the way into the insertion opening and hang the exhaust screen below in the groove on the left side of the appliance until it snaps into place. The Super Filter Fleece Bag, the Dovina Fragrance chips and the Hygiene Microfilter can naturally be disposed of with the normal household rubbish. Caring for the Electronic Brush EB 360 Inspecting brush effectiveness: Examine from time to time whether the black bristle clusters are still longer than the red individual cluster, if this is not the case, you should replace the round brushes, since they no longer have any brushing effect and could even damage the carpet under certain circumstances. For your safety: Before conducting the following work, switch off the appliance and pull the electrical plug out of the electrical outlet. For your safety: Do not grab or reach into the EB 360 before it is disconnected from the VK 136. Exchanging the round brushes: For this, remove the EB 360 from the vacuum cleaner and push the yellow button. The hood snaps open and can be easily be pulled upwards. Now pull the round brushes out of the brush tunnel by the white or red ring. Push in and lightly turn the new round brushes onto the drive wave until they snap into place. Ensure that the brushes are always assigned to the corresponding colored symbols (white to white, red to red). Always exchange both round brushes. Now clap the elastic hood with both hands carefully back until it can be heard to click into place. Attention: lf the hood cannot be closed, then the round brushes are not pushed in far enough. 32 Reordering: Reorder your round brushes punctually. Examine the underside from time to time so that damages to the appliance and to flooring can be prevented. For example, if pebbles have become lodged in the front nozzle, then you can remove these most effectively with a pointed object. If threads have become entangled around the round brushes, then you can simply cut these out with scissors. However, in the event of heavy entanglement it is then preferable to remove the brushes Roller Brushes in the unit should be checked on a regular basis to keep them clean and free of any fibre build up. To replace the roller brushes press the release button on hood (U) and pull the white hood fully forward. Tip: Clean the EB 360 power brush with a duster or a damp cloth. Never clean with water or a dripping wet cloth. Now grip the white or red ring and pull the brush rollers out of the brush tunnel. Press the new brush rollers onto the drive shaft, rotating them slightly until they click home. Take care that the brushes are always inserted with the colored symbols matching (white to white, red to red). Now close the flexible hood carefully with both hands until you hear it click home. 33 Caring for the Electronic Brush EB 360 Once the bristles have worn down excessively (the red mark is a guide) the roller brushes need replacing. Tip: Always change both roller brushes at the same time. Dry Cleaning cassettes (Freshener kit) Rinse the brushes under cold running water and allow to dry before using them again (do not place on radiators). Pick off any threads or hairs entangled in the bristles. For you safety: Ensure that the dry cleaning Cassettes are completely dry prior to using them again. For your safety: Before conducting the following work, switch off the appliance and pull the electrical plug out of the outlet. For inspection of the EB 360, open and remove the flap on its underside, A blockage can usually be easily recognized and removed. It may be necessary in this case to release the joint nozzles. For this, use an appropriate object (e.g., screwdriver). Finally, reinsert the flap and press it into place. If the EB 360 is too loud: Examine whether an object has been caught in the area of the round brushes and if so, remove it. The EB 360 is difficult to push: lt is possible that you have selected a performance setting that is too high, This can be the case for example with fine velours, Then set the VK 136’s sliding switch to a lower setting (<1>=the optimum setting for most carpets). In the event that EB 360 is still difficult to move, open the hood (see) and remove the yellow stopper, enabling the suction of secondary air. A clear reduction in the VK 136’s performance or over-loud working noise: The air flow is probably blocked. In many cases, removal of the blockage is already accomplished with replacement of the Super Filter Fleece Bag: see pages 32 and 33. 34 Attention: in the case of long periods of vacuuming with a blocked Super Filter Fleece Bag, the VK 136 can switch to a higher performance setting due to overheating. This can then no longer be regulated. An air vent opens automatically and allows air into the interior of the motor. This significantly reduces the suction performance power and the VK 136 becomes louder, Only after cooling of the motor and the insertion of a new Super Filter Fleece Bag can the performance be regulated after switching on again. If the Super Filter Fleece Bag is not blocked, then examine the suction canal of the VK 136 and the EB 360. Caring for the Electronic Brush EB 360 Automatic deactivation of the EB 360: lf the control lamp is illuminated, then this indicates a blockage. In the event of a blockage, please switch off the VK 136 and remove the object that has been sucked in. After switching on again you can resume vacuuming. Attention: With frequent blockages, the source can also be attributable to the properties of the carpet Caring for the Pulilux PL 515 For you safety: Unplug appliance prior to connecting or changing brushes. PL 515 Brush-set holder has come lose. lf this should happen you just have to replace both pins in the grooves (arrow) and gently push until they click home. From time to time remove hairs and other dirt from the cleaning sets. lf the polishing-set has been extensively used, polishing pads are very dirty and saturated with wax remains, it is time to exchange the set. 35 The power pads (picture) can be exchanged when they are worn out. Using a screwdriver or fingers pull the pads attached to the white ring of the brush holder. Make sure the three pins are placed correctly in front of the corresponding openings, then push until all three click home. Occasionally check the suction inlet. When one of the inlets is blocked it is often sufficient to simply change the filterbag. For exceptions there is a removable socket that can be released after opening the hood.
