SD CARD The DVR requires an SD card to work properly. Place the SD card GOLD CONNECTORS DOWN as shown.
Gently insert the SD card into the slot. Do not force the card as you may damage the DVR and void your warranty. Gently press the SD card into place. It will click into place.
This SD card is properly inserted.

TIME / DATE STAMP SETUP The SD card must be in place and the DVR must be inserted into a USB port on your PC for this step. 1. Open the DVR folder on your PC. This will appear as an external drive, such as DRIVE F:. In this example, it’s Drive J: 2. When you open the DVR, you may see a folder called DCIM. Your video, photo and audio files will be in here later. Do not open the DCIM folder at this time. 3. You must create a NEW TXT file in the root of your DVR. 4. RIGHT-CLICK in the white area under the DCIM folder of your DVR. 5. Choose the option called NEW. Then TEXT DOCUMENT. 6. Name this text document TIME.TXT. If you do not see the TXT extention on your PC, just name this file TIME.
7. Open this file by double-clicking it. 8. Add this line, correcting for the proper date and time. Note the use of a 24 hour clock, and you must copy this format exactly, including punctuation and the space. 2013/04/17 17:11:00 9. Adjust the date and time as necessary. 10. SAVE the file. 11. Eject the DVR from your PC and turn it on to set the time in your DVR. You will only need to do this once.

QUICK GUIDE Please note the proper positioning of the device during recording. Keep it in this position or your photos and video will be upside down. A Button Photo / Video B Button Power Button On/Off Audio Only Recording
The 2 buttons should be on the right hand side with the camera facing forward.
POWER ON - Hold the Power Button until the device starts. It is now in Stand By Mode. POWER OFF - Hold the Power Button until the device shuts off.
The following are from STAND BY MODE with a red status light. AUDIO ONLY RECORDING 1. Quick-press the Power Button. The status light will blink blue. 2. To stop recording audio, quick-press the Power Button again.
PHOTO 1. Quick-press the A Button. The light will turn blue, then red again. It is now ready for another photo.
MOTION-ACTIVATED RECORDING 1. Quick-press the B button. The status light will blink purple a few times. 2. The status light will blink blue once when motion is detected and start recording. 3. To stop recording, quick-press the B button again.
VIDEO RECORDING 1. Long-press the A button. The status light will blink red a few times. You are now recording video. 2. To stop recording, quick-press the A button again.

SUGGESTED SOFTWARE Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in software that will play most of the files created by devices like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your files, or need more options, please download and try these programs. This software is free and can be downloaded directly from the links below. You can find support and tutorials for these programs on their respective websites. SafetyBasement can not provide software support for these programs As with ANY files you download from the internet, be sure to scan them for viruses using your particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this software, we can not be responsible for any damage caused by this software. Please proceed carefully. Back up your PC before installing any new software. VIDEO PLAYBACK - VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) The VLC Media Player can play almost any video or audio file type. There is a version for Windows and for Mac OS X. VIDEO EDITING for WINDOWS - MOVIE MAKER 2012 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/get-movie-makerdownload) Movie Maker is a simple video editing program from Microsoft. Please go to this link, and choose the download for your version of Windows. Please note: Movie Maker is part of the Windows Essentials package. VIDEO EDITING for MAC OS X - iMOVIE (Visit the Apple Mac App Store for latest version) iMovie is a simple video editing program from Apple. It comes installed with your new Mac. The latest version is also available at the Mac App Store at additional cost. AUDIO PLAYBACK and EDITING - AUDACITY (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) Audacity is a popular audio editing program used by amateurs and professionals to edit simple and complex audio projects. You can use Audacity to convert your audio files to another format, such as MP3. There is a version for Windows and Mac OS X.
