NOTE - Information to which you should pay special attention. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING DANGER: To reduce the risk of electrocution: 1. Always unplug this product immediately after using. 2. Do not use while bathing. 3. Do not place or store product where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. 4. Do not place in or drop into water or other liquid. 5. Do not reach for a product that has fallen into the water. Unplug immediately. WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire or injury to persons: 1. This product should never be left unattended when plugged in. 2. Close supervision is necessary when this product is used by, on, or near children or invalids. 3. Use this product only for its intended use as described in this guide. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. 4. Never operate this product if a) it has a damaged cord or plug, b) it is not working properly, it has been dropped or damaged, d) it has been dropped into water. Return the product to a service center for examination and repair. 5. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. 6. Never block the air openings of the product or place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair and the like. 7. Never drop or insert any object into any openings or hose. 8. Never use while drowsy or sleeping. 9. Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used. 10. Do not use the presence of flammable anesthesia or where oxygen or nitrous oxide are being administered. 11. Connect this product to a properly grounded outlet only. 12. Unplug the unit before filling the Nebulizer. 13. This unit is oil-less. Do not lubricate. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. 2 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS NOTE: Before initial operation, your NEB-U-LITE® should be cleaned following cleaning instructions stated in this guide or as recommended by your physician. 1. Place unit on firm horizontal surface so that controls are within easy reach. 2. Make sure the power switch is in the “Off ” position. Then plug power cord into 120 V AC - 60 Hz grounded wall outlet. 3. Start the compressor by turning the switch to the “On” position. 4. Run the compressor for 2 minutes to clear out any condensation inside the compressor. 5. Stop the compressor by turning the switch to the “Off ” position. 6. Open the storage lid and remove the Nebulizer. 7. Unscrew Nebulizer cup from top and insert medication as prescribed. 8. Reattach cup to top. Medication may be added to the Nebulizer without unscrewing the two parts. 9. Insert Nebulizer into the base of tee adapter. 10. Insert mouthpiece into large end of tee adapter. 11. Connect the tubing to the adapter on the bottom of the Nebulizer cup. Attach the other end of tubing to compressor tubing connector. 12. If desired, attach reservoir tube to small end of tee adapter. 13. Turn the power switch to the “On” position. 14. Place the Nebulizer mouthpiece between teeth and close mouth. 15. As aerosol starts flowing, inhale deeply and slowly through mouthpiece. 16. When treatment is over, stop the compressor by turning the switch to the “Off ” position and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. 17. Disconnect Nebulizer from tubing. 18. Clean Nebulizer as noted in Cleaning Instructions. NOTE: This Nebulizer compressor is intended for single patient use only. Safety Overload: This compressor is fitted with a thermal protection device. If the motor begins to overheat, it will automatically shut down. If this should occur, turn the power switch to the “Off ” position and allow the motor to cool for 20 minutes. Restart the compressor. CAUTION: Risk of electrical shock. Do not disassemble. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel. Nebulizer Cup Assembly Fig 1 Fig 2 3 CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: To prevent possible risk of infection from contaminated medication, cleaning of the Nebulizer is recommended after each aerosol treatment. Nebulizer Cleaning If properly maintained, the Disposable Nebulizer will last beyond one usage. Follow the cleaning instructions that were included with the Nebulizer. If the Nebulizer does not come with instructions, the Nebulizer should be cleaned as follows: 1. Remove and inspect the Tubing. If dirty or cracked, replace the Tubing. Wipe the outer surface of the Tubing frequently to remove an dust build-up. The inside of the Tubing cannot be cleaned. 2. Disassemble all Nebulizer parts and rinse thoroughly under warm tap water. 3. Thoroughly clean all components in warm water/non-lemon type dishwashing liquid. 4. Rinse all components with clean, warm tap water. 5. Soak components in warm water for 30 minutes. 6. Rinse components with warm tap water again and air dry thoroughly. Compressor Outer Case Cleaning WARNING: Unplug unit before cleaning. Do not submerge in water. 1. Wipe daily with a damp cloth. 2. Do not use any powdered cleaners or soap pads which may damage finish. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGING AIR FILTER NOTE: Change the filter every 30 days or when filter turns gray. 1. Pry off the filter cap located next to the ON/OFF switch. 2. Remove dirty filter with a small, pointed object. 3. Replace with a clean filter. 4. Replace filter cap. CAUTION: Do not use cotton or any other material as a filter. Do not wash or clean the filter. Do not reuse the filter. Do not operate without a filter. Compressor damage may result. MAINTENANCE WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Do not remove outer case of this unit. All disassembly and maintenance of this unit must be done by a qualified service technician. 1. Do not try to open or disassemble the unit. There are no user serviceable parts. 2. This unit does not require oil. Do not attempt to lubricate any internal parts.
