Distribution Amplifier • Designed to be fully compatible with the tvLINK & tvLlNKplus • Amplified to ensure clear pictures in all locations If you are installing the Distribution Amplifier in any other way than described below, you will need to provide power for the amplifier. This can be done only via the Global Communications Digital Accessory in-line DC Inserter or suitable Power Supply.
SECTION 1: Running a new cable 1. Decide where you wish to permanently install your Distribution Amplifier. 2. Route all new coax cables directly to this location. These can be run either inside or outside your home. When making your new cables, double screened Satellite Grade Cable is recommended. Always be careful to ensure there are no tight bends or kinks in the cable. 3. Make up the new cabling taking, great care that the outer braid of the cable (screening) does not touch the centre pin, thus causing a short circuit which will stop DC. 4. Connect the Cable coming from the Sky Digibox RF out2, into the 'TV IN' socket on the new Amplifier. NB: If you are not using a Sky Digital receiver, the TV input cable can be fed from your TV aerial or video output using a 2-way Splitter, an in line DC Inserter, or Power Supply (both sold separately); these should be powered from a 13 Amp mains socket.

Are you installing the Amplifier to work with the new Sky Digital receiver?
SECTION 2: How to Install the Distribution Amp Please make sure that you have the Sky Digital receiver manual available before attempting to install the Amplifier. 1. Switch off the Sky Digital receiver and disconnect the mains plug.
2. Check that the coaxial cable from your TV aerial is connected (first to your Freeview digital terrestrial receiver if you have one, and from its RF output socket) to the 'Aerial IN' socket on the back of the Sky Digital receiver. This ensures that all digital aerial signals are available, with the selected Sky channel (analogue), at the RF output sockets of the Sky Digibox. (The remote TVs must have analogue tuners, in order to tune to the Sky channel, as well as digital tuners for Freeview terrestrial, if required.) If the VCR* Channel is required at the other locations, connect the TV aerial into the 'Aerial IN' on the back of the VCR first, before connecting to the Sky Digital receiver. Make sure that the video and Digibox are linked together via a scart lead to ensure that Sky may be recorded. (See Typical Installation diagram.) 3. Check that 'RF out 1' on the back of your Sky Digital receiver is connected to your main TV, or your VCR/DVD* which is then connected to your main TV. *In the case of a DVD player or similar, you will need to connect it, via a SCART lead, to an “RF Modulator”, which has IN and OUT sockets. This will combine the aerial signal with the DVD output (analogue). 4. Connect a coaxial cable from 'RF out 2' on the back of the Sky Digital receiver to the Amplifier connector marked 'TV IN'. 5. Connect all the output cables and extended TVs to the Distribution Amplifier. http://www.satcure.co.uk
6. If you are installing the tvLINK remote eyes, simply connect them to the coaxial cables at the required TVs. Please refer to the separate tvLINK installation guide. 7. Re-connect the mains plug and switch on the Sky Digital receiver. 8. Turn on the power to RF out 2 in your Sky Digital receiver menus. This can be done by following the instructions below whilst sifting in front of the Sky Digital receiver and using the Sky Digital remote control: 1. Re-tune your extended TVs to ensure that you can see all the channels received at the Main TV set. If you are unsure of how this is done please refer to the TV manual. 11. Check that you are receiving the same quality pictures on the extended televisions as received by the main TV set. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the Global Communications Amplifier and can now receive all your channels in more than one location. Associated Products in the range: tvLINK. T Series Signal Boosters, 4 & 8 way LoftBox. Wallplates, and Diplexers
SECTION 3: Installing without a Sky Digibox If you are installing a Distribution Amplifier and you do not have Sky Digital receiver you will need a Global Communications T Series Power Pack or DCI and Power Supply. SECTION 4: Problems & Solutions P1: I can!t find the Sky Channel on the MAIN TV. Al: Check that the Dish cable is correctly connected to the Sky Digital receiver and that all scart leads, or coax cables, fror the Sky Digital receiver to the VCR and fl/are also proper connected. P2: I can!t find the normal TV Channels on the MAIN TV. A2: i) If you have an amplifier installed prior to the Sky Digital receiver, please check that it is switched on. ii) Check that the coax cable from the aerial is correctly connected into the Sky Digital receiver or as per the receiver manual or via the VCR/DVD (see section 2/2). P3: I can!t find the normal TV Channels, or the Sky Channels, on the extended TVs A3: i) Check the red LED is lit on the amplifier. ii) Check that all the cables are correctly connected to the amplifier, and that the amplifier is connected to the back of the Sky Digital receiver on the output marked “RF out 2”. iii) Check that all the cables are made up correctly. Ensure that the outer screening does not touch the centre conductor, in any way, but that it makes good contact with the outer part of the coax connector at each end of all the cables. P4: The signals on the extended TVs are poor on all channels (TV and Sky). A4: Disconnect the TV aerial cable from the back of the Sky Digital receiver and check whether the Sky Channels on the extended TVs have cleared up. YES: Your terrestrial signals are too strong. The installation of a variable attenuator, on the input to your Sky Digital receiver, will weaken the signals enough to clear the pictures up without affecting your main TV. NO: Your Signal Booster could be faulty; please contact your supplier. P5: I can not find the Sky Channel, or reception is bad on the Sky channel only, on the extended TVs. A5: Check that you have tuned the extended TVs into the Sky Channel. If NO, re-tune your extended TV (Please refer to TV manual). If YES, retune the UHF Channel number on your Sky Digibox as follows: 1. Press the SERVICES button on your 'Digibox Remote Control'. 2. Then press the NUMBER 4 button. (System Set-up 3. For Sky+HD receivers, press SERVICES 001 SELECT. 4. Press NUMBER 4 again. (RF Outlets) 5. Change the channel number currently showing as channel 68. (pre-set from the factory) 6. Choose a channel between 21 & 69. (the most common being 25, 26, 35, 47 69) 7. Then press the DOWN ARROW twice followed by the SELECT button. (Save new settings). 8. Finish by returning to your second TV and re-tune the Sky picture back in. Follow these instructions until you find the clearest Channel for your area. http://www.satcure.co.uk
P6: The red LED on the Distribution Amplifier is not lit A6: i) Check the power is switched on to RF2 on the Sky Digit receiver. (please refer to SECTION 2/8 of this guide) If you are installing this amplifier without a Sky Digital receiver then check that it is plugged in and switched on. (please refer to SECTION 3 of this guide) ii) Check that all the connections are made up correctly as stated in SECTION 1/3, and that you have no tight bends of kinks in your cable. (Then be sure to reset the Sky Digital received iii) Check that there are no wall plates between the RF out 2 connection, on the back of your Sky Digital receiver, and the extended TVs. These may stop the direct current from getting through.
SECTION 5: Fitting the Plugs If you want to use the supplied plastic plugs, here!s a guide: Slide plug onto cable.
Remove the outer insulation on your WF65-1 cable to expose the copper braid. Fold back the braid and remove the copper foil underneath. Cut away 1cm of inner white plastic insulation.

Apply silicone grease to the copper wire and insert it into threaded socket on the amplifier.
Fold the braid over the thread and space it out evenly. Apply silicone grease to the copper braid. This will prevent oxidation.
Slide the plastic plug back down the cable and push it firmly over the thread to secure the copper braid.
Silicone grease is available from SatCure in a small syringe or in a 50g tube.
