What Options Does Operation via a Web Browser Offer Me?
What Options Does Operation via a Web Browser Offer Me? A graphical web interface available on the device allows you to operate the Musiccenter using a standard web browser on any computer (tablet, PC, Mac). You do not need an Apple iPad or the BurmesterMC app (see “Instructions for Operation via the iPad App”). Compared with the iPad app, operation via a web browser provides the interested user with a variety of functions in addition to playback of albums, tracks, and playlists: • Import audio files in the formats flac, m4a, aif, wav, mp3, aac, and ogg. • Edit album and track information. • Export audio files to a USB stick. • Call up device-specific information. • Change device settings. Operation via a web browser requires the following: • A computer (tablet, PC, Mac) with a web browser installed (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) • A LAN or Wi-Fi connection between the computer and the Musiccenter Note: You can find information on how to establish a LAN or Wi-Fi connection in the operating instructions for your Musiccenter.
How do I Use these Instructions? These operating instructions describe the operation of Burmester Musiccenter models (software version 2.30) via a web browser. The web interface is the same for all models. For this reason, the designation Musiccenter alone is used across the board. Differences result from the scope of functions of the devices. Where there are differences, the respective model (e.g. only 111) is referenced. Since you can use any standard web browser, using the browser is not described here. You can find information on using your browser in the help section of your browser. Symbols and text labels used

How can I Open the Web Interface?
How can I Open the Web Interface? To open the Musiccenter web interface in your browser, your computer (tablet, PC, Mac) must be connected to your Musiccenter via LAN or Wi-Fi. Note: You can find information on how to connect your computer to the Musiccenter in the operating instructions for your Musiccenter. Opening the web interface: 33 A LAN or Wi-Fi connection between your computer (iPad, tablet, Mac, PC) and the Musiccenter has been established. 1. To query the IP address: — 111 Musiccenter: In the main menu, press the Settings button, then Info. Turn the left rotary knob until Network appears. First, the IP address is shown, followed by the MAC address and the network mask. (Please see the operating instructions for the 111 Musiccenter for a detailed description.) — 151 Musiccenter: On the remote control, press the OSD button and then the buttons 1 – 1 – 1. First, the IP address is displayed scrolling from right to left, followed by the MAC address. 2. How is the Web Interface Laid Out?
How is the Web Interface Laid Out? This section gives you an overview of the general layout of the web interface, as well as the menus and functions. How to use the individual functions is explained in later steps.
The two main views The player view After calling up the web interface, the player view is displayed. In this view, you can select albums and tracks, create playlists, play or rip a CD, or listen to Internet radio. The appearance is based on the design of the iPad app and allows for quick, convenient use of the primary, everyday functions. ►► Use the player view to create playlists and to play albums, tracks, or playlists.
The setup view Clicking the icon takes you to the setup view. Here, you can also play audio files and create playlists. You also have access to a variety of additional functions, such as importing and exporting files or renaming albums and tracks. Since this view focuses on editing files, its layout is similar to that of file browsers, such as Windows Explorer. ►► Use the setup view to import and export audio files, as well as to edit album and track
information. Clicking the System tab takes you to the system menu. While you can edit audio files in the other menus, the system menu allows you to view device information and change device settings.
►► Use the system menu to display device information and to change device settings.

How Can I Play a CD?
How Can I Play a CD? You do not need the web interface to play a CD. Playback begins directly after the CD is inserted. You can skip forward and backward on the device or using the remote control. However, you cannot select any tracks directly. For more information, see the operating instructions for your Musiccenter. The web interface, however, gives you the option of playing specific individual tracks. Furthermore, you can import a CD and save it on the device (see "How Can I Copy (Rip) a CD to the Internal Memory?" on page 20). Playing a CD: ►► Insert a CD into the CD drive on the Musiccenter.
ªªThe view automatically switches to Audio CD and playback begins immediately with track 1. In the left window area, the tracks are displayed (but not the album and track names). ►► To play a specific track, click the track number in the left window. ►► To return to CD playback after switching to a different playback mode, click the arrow next to the drop-down menu and select Audio CD.
How can I Play Music Saved on the Musiccenter? Before you can play music saved on the Musiccenter, you have to import the music to the Musiccenter. For more information, see "How Can I Copy (Rip) a CD to the Internal Memory?" on page 20 and "How Can I Import Audio Files Directly?" on page 24. So that you can immediately test the playback function, your Musiccenter already features an album with songs from the HIGHRESAUDIO (www. highresaudio.com) music portal. (Note: The following examples show contents that are not supplied along with the Musiccenter). So you can play an album (or a single track), you first have to create a playback playlist. Playback playlists are sets of tracks saved on the device. The tracks can be added to the playback playlist individually or as complete albums and they can be ordered as you would like. However, playlists are only temporary and are lost when a new one is created. To keep a playlist permanent, it can be saved under an arbitrary name. You have two options for creating playlists and playing saved music in the web interface: • "Creating playlists and playing them in the player view" on page 12 • "Creating playlists and playing them in the setup view" on page 17 Both views offer similar functions, but do differentiate in some aspects. With its app-oriented interface, the player view offers options for creating, changing, and loading a playlist. In the setup view’s file browser, you can also export saved playlists. Music playback also differs. In the player view, music is played back via the Musiccenter, while the browser on the computer being used serves for playback in the file browser.

How Can I Listen to Internet Radio?
How Can I Listen to Internet Radio? In the Internet radio operating mode, you have access to a selection of radio stations that offer their program via the Internet. The Musiccenter accesses a table of stations that Burmester manages and updates regularly. This minimizes the probability of unavailable radio stations and stations with poor transmission quality appearing in the station table. Listening to an Internet radio station is not different from listening to a track on the player: you select one of the available stations, add it to the playlist, and begin playback. Creating a playlist with radio stations: 1. In the player view, select Internet radio 1 .

How Can I Back Up and Restore Saved Data?
How Can I Back Up and Restore Saved Data? To ensure the highest security possible for the audio files stored on your Musiccenter, data saved on the internal hard disk is automatically mirrored onto a second internal hard disk permanently (RAID1). Since hard disks generally have a limited service life, we recommend saving your contents to an additional external hard disk from time to time. This is referred to as a “backup”. The optimal time for a backup depends on how often you rip CDs to the hard disk, so how quickly your music archive on your Musiccenter grows. If, against expectations, data become corrupted or if the internal hard disks have to be exchanged as a precaution, you can recover the backed up data without any issues. This is referred to as a “restore”.
Backing up saved data NOTICE Formatting the external backup hard disk Before a data backup, the external hard disk is formatted. As a result, all data saved on this hard disk is lost. ►► Use an empty hard disk or a hard disk with data you no longer need for the backup. Premature removal of the external backup hard disk Removing the external backup hard disk when a backup is in progress can cause serious damage to the system. ►► Wait until the backup is complete. You can then remove the external backup hard disk. Important information on backups: • During a backup, the Musiccenter cannot be used. All services are stopped. • When creating a backup for the first time, all existing data is backed up. Depending on the quantity of data saved, the backup may take several hours. We therefore recommend performing backups overnight. • For all subsequent backups, only changes to the previous backup are backed up (incremental process). If you perform regular backups and your music archive grows relatively slowly, the backup duration is reduced significantly.
34
How Can I Back Up and Restore Saved Data? Starting a backup: 1. Connect the external hard disk used for backup to one of the USB ports. Note: Make sure that the hard disk has enough free memory. 2. Open the Backup function. 3. By default, the mp3 files created automatically during ripping are also backed up. You can reduce the quantity of data by changing this setting. However, the Musiccenter must then re-create the mp3 files after a restore. To deactivate the backup of the mp3 files, click Include Sample Files (mp3)?. ªª The checkbox is removed. 4. Click the top Continue (Backup music data and database) button. ªªA check whether the hard disk has enough memory capacity for the backup is now performed. ►► If the check fails, use a hard disk with a higher capacity.
5. Click Backup on this drive if the test was successful and you want to perform a backup.
NOTICE! A warning now appears indicating that the external hard disk will be formatted and all the data saved on it deleted. 6. Click Cancel to cancel the process or click OK to start formatting and the backup.
All other activities on the Musiccenter are stopped and backup begins. Depending on the quantity of data saved, this process may take several hours. NOTICE! Never remove the external hard disk before backup is completed under any circumstances.
7. After the backup is complete, remove the external hard disk and keep it in a safe place.

Restoring backed up data NOTICE Formatting the internal hard disk During the data restore process, the internal hard disk is overwritten. As a result, all data saved on the hard disk is lost. ►► Make sure that the external hard disk use contains the desired backup data. Premature removal of the external backup hard disk Removing the external backup hard disk when a restore is in progress can cause serious damage to the system. ►► Wait until the restore process is complete. You can then remove the external backup hard disk. Some additional important information on the restore process: • During a restore, the Musiccenter cannot be used. All services are stopped. • Only data that has been created prior using the Musiccenter’s backup function can be restored. • Depending on the quantity of data saved, the restore process may take several hours. ►► We therefore recommend performing restores overnight. Restoring backed up data: 1. Connect the external hard disk containing the desired backup to one of the USB slots on the Musiccenter. 2. Click the bottom Continue (Restore music data and database) button. ªªA check whether the internal hard drive has enough memory capacity for the restore and whether the data to be restored is in order is now performed.
3. Click Restore from this drive if the test was successful and you want to perform the restore.
