Replacement Kit Instructions Instructions for the Model LJ High Voltage Assembly Replacement Kit FOR YOUR SAFETY: This product must be installed and serviced by a professional service technician, qualified in pool/spa heater installation and maintenance. Improper installation and/or operation could create carbon monoxide gas in flue gases which could cause serious injury, property damage, or death. Improper installation and/or operation will void the warranty. These instructions are to be used with the following Replacement Kits: R0366500-- High Voltage Assembly, Model LJ Replacement Kit WARNING If the information in these instructions is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or death. This document gives information for replacing the high voltage assembly (power connection box) in all Lite2 model LJ (except Low-NOx) pool/spa heaters. The information in this document will insure that your heater runs safely and efficiently when the high voltage assembly is replaced. The instructions must be followed exactly. Read through the instructions completely before replacing the high voltage assembly. The high voltage assembly in this kit was designed to accommodate all electronically controlled Lite2 heaters (Except Low-NOx). However, if the filter pump in your system is controlled by the heater's internal time clock, you will need to provide a new pump relay and wire harness or use the relay and harness from the existing heater. 2. Install the New High Voltage Assembly 1. Remove the Existing High Voltage Assembly 1.1 Disconnect the heater from the supply voltage by turning off the breaker that controls the heater. 1.2 Remove the front panel (door) of the heater and the cover of the power connection box. Align the screw holes in the connection box with the holes on the side of the heater jacket and install the screws to hold it in place. 2.2 If your pump is wired to the heater's internal time clock through a relay, plug the wire harness into the "Pump" connection on the power distribution board and mount the relay to the power connection box. 2.3 The power conversion plug is installed on the power distribution board ready for use with a heater having a 230VAC supply voltage. If your heater uses a 115VAC supply voltage, remove the power conversion plug, turn it over and reinstall the white side of the plug into the receptacle. 2.4 Reconnect the igniter wires, temperature sensor wires and the controller ribbon cable to the power distribution board (see wiring diagram for location of connections on power distribution board). 2.5 If there is an external component to be wired to the fireman switch connection on the power distribution board, remove the wire nut and connect the wires. Reconnect the six pin connector wires to each of the components as follows: 1.3 Remove the power supply wires from the "Power In" terminals on the power distribution board. 1.4 Disconnect the six wires from each of the components attached to the six pin connector. 2.6 1.5 If there is an external component wired to the fireman switch connection on the power distribution board, remove the wire nuts and disconnect the wires. 2.6.1 Connect the black wire in the upper right corner of the connector to the flame sensor. 2.6.2 Connect the yellow wire of the connector to either one of the terminals of the gas valve. 2.6.3 Connect the brown wire of the connector to the remaining terminal of the gas valve. If your pump is wired to the heater's internal time clock through a relay, unplug the wire harness at the "Pump" connection on the power distribution board and remove the relay from the power connection box. 2.6.4 Connect the red wire of the connector to the terminal of the fusible link. 2.6.5 Connect the remaining black wire of the connector to the terminal of the water pressure switch. Remove the screws holding the box to the side panel of the heater and remove the box. 2.7 1.6 1.7 H0255000A 2.1 1.8 Disconnect the igniter wires, temperature sensor wires and the controller ribbon cable from the power distribution board. Reconnect the power supply wires to the "Power In" terminals on the power distribution board (see the wiring diagram to confirm the correct wiring). 2.8 Replace the cover of the power connection box and front panel (door) of the heater. 2.9 Caution National codes require that the high voltage wires and the low voltage wires exit the connection box through different outlets. Be sure that low voltage wires (24V) exit the connection box through the hole on the upper left side of the cover. The high voltage wires 115V for the igniter must exit through the hole on the lower left side of the cover. Reconnect the heater to the supply voltage by turning on the breaker that controls the heater.
