Terminals: A - Network Connection:
To avoid bad contact and short circuit problems we advise to use pre-insulated terminals (ferrules) locked on wires.

The ASI-MD-4-Ex module is certified according to technical standards, allowing its use in zones 1 and 2 as they use increased security technology Exe, even eliminating the use of metal conduits to the network cable which is protected by Ex cable glands. IMPORTANT: The shunt can only be opened with the de-energized ASI network, never disconnect or connect either wire with power on, it may produce an electric spark that could cause the detonation of the potentially explosive atmosphere.
Não abra este módulo com a rede ASI Energizada. Limpar somente com pano úmido.

2 - Insert the cables through the cable gland and then the mains input connection terminals. Please follow the procedure below: 1 - Make the cable end as the the previous item and apply the terminals. 2 - Insert the cables through the cable gland and then in the network input connection terminals.
Maintenance: Fig.10
Note: Use a proper screwdriver and do not overtighten to avoid destroying the terminal.
CAUTION ! The wireless terminals (ferrules) can cause a short circuit interrupting or damaging components of the entire network.

The network cable that came out of the distributor will use the press PG9 cable, mounted on top of the housing.
ATENÇÃO
Input and Output Connectors: The network input and output connectors are simple type and plug-in. If the input connector is removed from the shunt, its derivations and instruments installed after the shunt will be inoperative, the output connector if removed from the shunt will only stop instruments installed after the shunt, remaining active their derivations.

In case of maintenance where the network can not be deenergized, only open the distributor if the area is declassified The instrument allows the cable network to enter and leave this by authorized personnel. module, continuing to the network until you find another Box Fixating: distributor module. The box should be fixed by 4 screws cylindrical head screwdriver (not included), which are accessed by removing The entrance of the network cable must be made by the press the housing cover, as shown: PG 9 mounted cables at the bottom of the box and should be The structure of the equipment should have 4 holes for the used round ASI cable, always respecting the maximum cable screws, note the distance between the holes: 147mm vertical length according to the AS-INTERFACE network installation and horizontal 67mm. rules .

3 - Do not make the network shunt connecting two wires in the Supply Network: same terminal, as it will not secure them properly. According to the AS-Interface network specifications, a maximum voltage drop of 3V along the line due to the current carried by the cable is allowed.
Network Repeater: The ASI network repeater enables network deployment with over 100 meters long. Allowing slaves to be installed either before the repeater (line 1) and after the repeater (line 2).
U=r x L x I
Voltage Drop Calculations:
being: U = voltage in Volts I = current in Amperes r = cable resistivity W/m L = cable length (m)

The ASI cable has r=0,03W/m. Essential in implementing an AS-Interface network is the Note: The value shown in the consumption of 0.5A valve evaluation of the voltage drop along the line, which is caused by monitors is a didactic value to simplify the calculation, the the ohmic resistance of the cable to the equipment submitted actual value of a “Low Power” solenoid is 0.05A. by mains current consumption. The calculations of the voltage drops will be based on Ohm’s law, applied to cables where the resistance value depends on the cable length:

However each section must have their AS-Interface power supply, as this is used for communication and how each of the parts need to repeat the information received from another passage are needed two sources. On a network up to 2 repeaters can be used, extending the maximum length of the network to 300m note that all shunts (x) should be considered when calculating the maximum length of 100M.
B = 29,14V
Network Extender: The extender should be used when the master (controller) AS-I network is far (up to 100 m) of the first group of slaves, but should not be used in cases where there are slaves between the master and the extender. 30m x 0,030Wx 0,5A U = 0,45 V

The use of the expander makes the most economical installation since it eliminates the use of two power supplies as the repeater, there are some restrictions for using this topology, for more information see our engineering applications.
Supply Expander:

The expander allows with a single source of AS-Interface power can be used for all network stretches where the network repeater are used, even when the network has three sections. Another great advantage of source expander is to allow a single

Caution with the Network! Be very careful when handling the network cable for a short circuit can cause slight damage and disrupt the entire network. 1 - To facilitate the replacement label modules with their respective address. 2 - Whenever possible use the external power option in the output modules when switching high currents. 3 - Develop a network schematic diagram identifying all the existing instruments, with your address on the network. 4 - The schematic design must provide for identification and marking on all ends of the cables used. 5 - To facilitate maintenance advised we still put identification on the cable before and after each instrument, where the Technician can identify with the design, the exact location where this network. 6 - Keep updated this design after changing the network.
Comissioning: 1 - Carefully check the correct AS-Interface supply connection and auxiliary sources. 2 - Connect the master. 3 - Make sure the master recognized all slaves during commissioning. 4 - Put the PLC in RUN starting the application.
Tips: 1 - Place the power supply near slaves with high consumption. 2 - Make sure that the network does not exceed 100m, considering all shunts. 3 - Do not install the ASI cable together with high voltage cables in the same trays. 4 - Keep the network cable far from noise sources, eg frequency inverters.
Equipment Replacement: For the replacement of equipment there is the option automatic addressing, in this case after the exchange of the defective equipment the master detects the new module and checks the configuration parameters are the same as the old one, therefore the master automatically performs the addressing. For the automatic addressing option it is necessary that the master is present and is enabled. If the master does not have the automatic addressing option it is necessary to perform manual addressing. The module addressing can be done via ASI manual programmer (Hand Held) connected directly to the addressing plug which is accessed by removing the module cover, as a standard modules come at address 0. Important! Before setting the address make sure that only this module is to the chosen address.
Network Configuration: See in our website www.sense.com.br information for network configuration and memory mapping in the Instructions Manual.
