Converting the point-to-point interface , RS-232 to the bus-capable RS-485 standar d makes it possible to network up to 3 2 terminals via a 2 or 4-wire line . The following tasks can be solved with th e converter : —Coupling an RS-232 master interface to a n RS-485 bus system . —Integrating an RS-232 terminal in a n RS-485 bus system . —Networking of up to 32 RS-232 interface s via the RS-485 standard (provided the y can be addressed) . —Setting up a temporary programming an d parameterizing link between PC (RS-232 ) and PLC or drive regulators, for example , with an RS-485 connection . via the self-contacting snap-on foot . The manifold configuration options make the device suitable for universal applications : —RS-485 2-wire mode, half-duple x – RS-485 4-wire mode, full-duple x —RS-422 4-wire point-to-point mod e – Transmission rate between 4 .8 kbit/s and 115 .2 kbit/s —Automatic RS-485 transmit/receiv e changeove r The converter can thus be used in al l common RS-485 2 and 4-wire bus systems . Examples of this are : PROFIBUS, MODBUS, PPI (Siemens) , SUCONET-K (Moeller), DH 485 (Alle n Bradley), RACKBUS (Endress & Hauser) , UNI-TELWAY (Telemecanique), J-BU S (Merlin Gerin), RS BUS (Staefa), JETWA Y (Jetter) and many others . PSM-ME . . . control cabinet modul e The PSM-ME . . . interface converter ca n carry out bidirectional interface conversio n up to 115 .2 kbit/s in a slim design of jus t 22 .5 mm . The device is simply snapped ont o standard EN mounting rails and supplied with 24 V AC or DC . The RS-232 connectio n is made via SUB-D9, the RS-485 fiel d connection is made using pluggabl e COMBICON screw terminal blocks . Th e integrated data indicator displays transmi t and receive data dynamically. A high-grad e 3-way isolation between supply, RS-232 an d RS-485 interface ensures reliabl e decoupling of the potentials with 2kV . Th e integrated surge voltage protection provide s additional protection . Transient interferenc e is discharged effectively to ground potential PSM plug modules PSM-V24 . . . modules are directly attache d to the 25-pin SUB-D connection of th e RS-232 device interface . It is possible to select from male and female versions (type s . . ./SB and . . ./BB) . The 9/25-pin PSM-KAD. . . adapter cable is available for connecting to 9 pin interfaces .
