INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL CRICKET PLAYING CONDITIONS 2016/17 Season A GRADE – Normal Laws of Cricket apply with the following by-laws 25 over matches L.B.W. Rule applies. Players must be hit on the back leg or on the front leg, playing back. Players are not to be given out if hit on the front leg playing forward. NO BALL Two or more bounces before reaching the batter’s crease. A bouncer above the shoulder in a normal batting stance. A full-toss above waist height. RETIRE At the end of the over after a batter scores 40 runs. OVERS Each bowler may bowl a maximum of 5 overs. Each over contains a maximum of 8 balls. A Grade 1. Focus on participation and enjoyment 2. Teams are playing for a trophy so results need to be sent in each week to the MCA by Tuesday 3:45pm so that they can be entered into CricHQ and points tables updated. Failure to get your result in on time will mean you forfeit your points for that game. It is important to remember however that this is still an informal competition so all teams should be focused on giving everyone in their team a fair go and not using good players every week to win games. All results are to be sent to [email protected]. 3. Hours of play are 8.45am to 11.15am. All teams must assemble by at least 8.30am. 4. Teams must aim to have 11 players. 5. Format of game is traditional Cricket. 6. 1st innings must finish by 9.55am even if overs are not completed, then the team batting second has the same amount of overs to complete their innings. 7. Batters must wear two pads, gloves and a box at least. Correct fitting helmets are encouraged to be included in team gear. Wicket keepers must wear pads, gloves and a box. 8. No fielder is to be within 10 metres of the batter on strike. Exceptions are the wicketkeeper and slip fielders. 9. No Bowler can bowl more than 5 overs. 10. There is to be no change of wicketkeeper during the innings. 11. A batsmen can only be out LBW when playing back or hit on the back leg playing forward. A player hit on the front leg playing forward should not be given out. 12. Wides and no-balls count as one run and are re-bowled (max. 8 balls in an over though). Full tosses over waist height count as a no-ball. A ball bowled off the pitch is a wide. It is not a wide if the ball is struck. 13. Umpires are free to offer coaching to both teams. 14. More than one bounce of the ball to the batter at the crease is a no-ball. 15. Wickets are to be full pitch length. 16. All teams are to supply stand up stumps and two bails. Stumps are to be placed correctly. At least one bail must be dislodged for a batter to be out. 17. The normal hard cricket ball (142gm) is used. Kooka Crown balls are recommended. B Grade 18. Focus on participation and enjoyment. 19. There is no formal competition or keeping of points. 20. Hours of play are 8.45am to 11.15am. All teams must assemble by at least 8.30am. 21.
