If mounting to wall studs or ceiling joists, make sure that the mounting screws are anchored into the center of the wall studs or ceiling joists. Use of an edge-to-edge stud finder is recommended. Be aware of the mounting environment. If drilling and/or cutting into the mounting surface, always make sure that there are no electrical wires in wall. Cutting or drilling into an electrical line may cause serious personal injury. Make sure there are no water or natural gas lines inside the wall where the mount is to be located. Cutting or drilling into a water or gas line may cause severe property damage or personal injury. This product is intended for indoor use only. These tools are not provided by Premier Mounts, but you can purchase them at your local hardware store. Make sure that none of these parts are missing and/or damaged before beginning the installation. Use a stud finder (commercially available) to locate the wood studs that will be used for the installation. 2. Use a pencil and lightly mark the location of each stud (Figure 1) 3. Center and level the INW-AM80 between the marked studs. 4. Using the dimensions above,14”(W) x 18.2”(H), draw a pencil line completely around the housing. 5. Cut the drywall on the outside edge of the line and remove the drywall. Make sure that the cut is flush and even with the vertical wall stud (Figure 2). Proceed to Attaching the INW-AM80 Section Installation Instructions (Figure 1) (Figure 2) Visit Premier Mounts website at http://www.mounts.com Page 5 INW-AM80 Attaching the INW-AM80 Step 1 (Figure 3) All existing wires must be moved and anchored to either side of the mounting area (attach in a corner where the wood stud and the rear wall surface connect). 1. Place the INW-AM80 in the opening Is your box fitting snug and center to the studs? If no, proceed to the next step (Step 2) If yes, proceed to step 3 in this “Attaching the INW-AM80” section. Step 2 Optional Wood Shim Addition: 1. Place six (6) 1/4” wood shims on each side of the INW-AM80 (between the INW-AM80 and the wood stud). The wood shims must be placed between the wood stud and the INW-AM80. Please refer to Figure 4 for correct placement of the wood shims. Use as required. The purpose of the wood shims is to help center the unit, as well as provide a tight fit when all the wood screws are tightened down. Use as many shims as it take to ensure the box is level and centered. (Figure 4) Step 3 1. Drill a ¼˝ pilot hole in each of the ten (10) mounting points. 2. Insert the six (6) #14 x 1-1/4” wood screws (3 on each side) into the mounting points furthest to the rear of the box (Figure 5). 3. Once all of the desired wood shims are in place, tighten down the screws. Do not over tighten these screws. (Figure 5) Page 6 Visit the Premier Mounts website at http://www.mounts.com Installation Instructions INW-AM80 Side Cover Installation Step 1 When attaching the side covers, make sure that the 1/4” wood shims are in line with the side cover mounting holes. If the wood shims split, don’t panic. These wood shims have been designed to split in half to cover more area. 1. To attach the side covers, use four (4) #14 x 1-1/4” wood screws. 2. Line up the mounting holes on the side covers with the mounting holes that are located in the INW-AM80 box. These should be the two holes closest to the front of the box. 3. Once the mounting holes are located, insert two (2) #14 x 1-1/4” wood screws on each side. 4. Tighten each screw, but do not over tighten hardware. AM80 Back plate Installation 1. Use the three (3) 1/4-20 x 1 Phillips head screw and three (3) lock washers to attach the AM80 back plate to the INW-AM80. 2. Tighten using a phillips head screw driver. 3. Refer to the instruction manual included with your AM80 mount for full mount installation. Proceed to AM80 protective rubber bumper installation below. Cable Bushing Installation If you will be routing the audio, video, and/or data connections through the wall, remove the 1½˝ knockout (located on the top and bottom of the in-wall box). The 1½˝ knockout is easily removed by pressing hard with your thumbs on either side of the knockout, then twisting the knockout until it comes free. Watch for sharp edges! 1½˝ Knockout for Audio / Video / Data Connections 1. Install the cable bushings gently pressing them into the knockout holes. Proceed with installing your flat panel mount. Rubber Bumper Installation The protective rubber bumpers included with your INW-AM80 are used to protect the wall from any damage or scuffs when moving the flat-panel in and out of the in-wall box. 1. Insert one protective bumper on the top and bottom of each AM80 universal mounting arm, by sliding the open side onto the rear side of each bracket. The limited warranty is valid only for the original purchaser of the product. What Premier Mounts Will Do At the sole option of Premier Mounts, Premier Mounts will repair or replace any product or product part that is defective. If Premier Mounts chooses to replace a defective product or part, a replacement product or part will be shipped to you at no charge, but you must pay any labor costs.
