FM/AM band switch PREPARATION FOR USE This unit is designed specifically to work with your iPod®. Please read this instruction book carefully before operating the unit. POWER CONNECTION Plug the AC power cord to a household mains outlet source. This unit is equipped with a battery back up system, it requires a “AAA” size battery X 2 that is not supplied with this product. Insert the battery in the battery compartment, making certain that the positive and negative (+ and -) battery terminals are attached to the corresponding terminals on the plate in the battery compartment. If an AC power failure occurs, the clock automatically switches to the battery power supply, the clock and timer memory continue running. When the AC power resumes, the clock switches back to AC again. ® iPod Inserts Your unit comes with removable inserts* to ensure your iPod® fits properly in the dock on the top of the unit. Using the correct insert ensures the proper fit for your iPod®. Gently press the iPod® insert into the dock. Carefully place your iPod® into the dock. To remove/replace an insert, first remove your iPod®, then grip the insert and pull gently upwards. LOCATION OF REMOTE CONTROLS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. With the Radio Off, press and hold the TIME SET button (2). 2. Press the Hour button (6) to advance hour, press MINUTE button (1) until the correct time is displayed. 3. Release the TIME SET button. Setting the wake up time 1. Press and hold the ALARM SET button (5). 2. Press the HOUR button (6) to advance hour, press MINUTE button (1) until the correct time is displayed. 3. Release the ALARM SET button (5). Wake to buzzer alarm 1. Set the alarm time as shown above. 2. Set the ALARM SWITCH (20) to BUZZER position. 3. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button (8) to ON (Clock icon appears) Wake to the radio 1. Set the alarm time as shown above. 2. Press the Function button (9) to the radio position. 3. Set the ALARM SWITCH (20) to the iPod/Radio position. 4. Set the Band switch (21) to the desired radio band, and follow the procedure in LISTENING TO THE RADIO to tune the radio to a station. 5. Turn the VOLUME knob (7) to a level you feel will wake you. Wake to the iPod 1. Set the alarm time as shown above. 2. Insert your iPod to the docking station. 3. Press the Function button (9) to the iPod position 4. Set the Alarm switch (20) to the iPod/radio position. 5. Turn the Volume knob (7) to a level you feel will wake you. Alarm Off function 1. Select ALARM OFF with the ALARM ON/OFF button (8) to turn the alarm off (Clock icon disappears). Listening to the radio 1. Press the ON/OFF button (12) to turn the radio ON. 2. Press the Function button (9) to the radio position. 3. Set the Band switch (21) to the desired band (FM or AM). 4. Turn the TUNING knob (14) until the desired station is heard. 5. Turn the Volume knob (7) to a comfortable listening level. Press the ON/OFF button (12) to turn the radio OFF. Note : The AM band uses a built in directional serial. You may have to rotate the clock radio for the best reception. FM wire antenna Extend the FM wire antenna (15) completely to obtain best reception in FM band. Listening to your iPod 1. Plug the iPod adaptor to the docking area 2. Insert iPod to the docking station. 3. Press the on/off button (12) to switch on the unit. 4. Press the Function button (9) repeatedly unit the iPod on the display then switch on your iPod. 5. Press the Play/Pause button (4) from your iPod to pause or resume iPod playback. 6. Tune the Volume knob (7) to adjust your desired volume level. 7. Press the button (6) select the next song and search forward. 8. Press the button (1) select the previous song and search back. 9. To remove the iPod from the unit, press and hold the Play/ Pause button of your iPod for three seconds to switch it off and then gently take it out from the docking station. Charging your iPod When you docked your iPod, it will be charged automatically. Note : iPod Shuffles will NOT be charged. Snooze function When the alarm sounds, pressing the Snooze button (11), it will temporarily stop about 5 minutes then the alarm sounds again. Snooze will continue until the ALARM ON/OFF button (8) is pressed to OFF. Sleep function 1. This function enables you to go to sleep listening to the Radio. 2. Set the Radio ON/OFF button (12) to OFF. 3. Press the SLEEP button (13), the clock display will show 90 minutes. The radio turns on and will turn off automatically after 90 minutes. 4. To select a shorter time press the SLEEP button (13) repeatedly until the desired sleep time is displayed (90-10 minutes). 5. To turn off the Radio at any time during the Sleep period, press the Radio ON/OFF button (12) to OFF. Line in You can play other music sources (MP3 player or CD player - not included) through the speaker of this unit by connecting the line in jack to your MP3 or CD players line out jack or headphone jack. 1. Plug one end of the line in cable in to the line in jack and the other end of the cable to the headphone jack of your MP3 or CD player. 2. Turn ON MP3 or CD player 3. Turn ON the main unit - In Ipod mode, the LCD display will show the time. - In Radio mode, the LCD display will show the radio frecquency. This Line in jack requires a 3.5 mm audio cable for input signal. Note : This unit does not provide a recording signal from Line in to the iPod. It’s purpose is to allow other types of audio devices to play music through the unit speakers. Note : The 3.5 mm audio cable is not included TROUBLESHOOTING Symptom Possible Problem Solution No Power Power cord disconnected Connect power cord into a wall outlet. ® Using no or wrong iPod insert ® iPod is not installed properly. iPod does not dock properly iPod does not respond to the unit ® ® Remove your iPod from the dock and check for obstruction on the connectors® in the dock and on your iPod . Then reseat it in the dock. ® Please make sure your iPod is working properly before docking into the unit. Please refer to ® your iPod manual for details. ® Unit cannot control those iPod s or other devices. iPod is locked up. Using 1st or 2nd generation iPod®, iPod® Shuffle or other devices. ® iPod didn’t charge up ® iPod is not installed properly. Noise or Sound Channel not tuned properly for Distorted on AM or FM. radio broadcasts Unit is not positioned correctly. AM or FM, no sound Make sure® the dock insert fit your iPod ® ® ® Remove your iPod from the dock and check for obstruction on the connectors® in the dock and on your iPod . Then reseat it in the dock. Tune the radio again to the target channel. Rotate unit until best reception is obtained. Volume at minimum. Increase volume. Power cord disconnected. Connect Power cord. Power is Off. Press the On/off button to turn the unit on. Do not use abrasive, benzene, thinner or other solvents to clean the surface of the unit. To clean, wipe it will mild non-abrasive detergent solution and clean soft cloth. 9. Never attempt to insert wires, pins or other such objects into the vents or opening of the unit. 10. Disconnect device warning: Main plug is used as the connection; so it should always remain ready operate. 11. Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. 12. The normal ventilation of the product shall not be impeded for intended use. 13. The Max operating ambient temperature is 35ºC. CAUTION Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced Replace only with the same or equivatent type Line in The Line in jack can be used to playback alternate audio signal sources on the unit speakers. This line in jack requires a 3.5mm audio cable for input signal. Note : The 3.5mm audio cable is not included If the electric cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, or by the qualification persons, in order to avoid a danger. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc; No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus; Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal. Don’t throw used batteries in dustbin. Please contact your retailer in order to protect the environment. The marking information is located at the bottom of apparatus. Disposal of old electrical appliances The European directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimize the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain, and reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The crossed out “wheeled bin” symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance, it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.
