The following instructions explain how to replace only one hard drive in an IP-MobileCast™ Media Server (see Figure 1). If more than one hard drive requires replacement, please contact KVH Technical Support for instructions.
Figure 1: Hard Drive Replacement
Important! The Media Server must be turned on and fully functional during the replacement process. Be sure to replace only the hard drive that KVH Technical Support directed you to replace. Removal of an incorrect drive will result in permanent damage to the Media Server (see Figure 2).
Figure 2: Identify the Malfunctioning Hard Drive(s)
a. Make sure the Media Server is powered on. b. Press the release button on the faulty drive’s faceplate. The faceplate will spring open (see Figure 3). c. Grasp the faceplate and draw the hard drive straight out of the bay. Then set it aside.
Important! The hard drive is static-sensitive. Be sure to take the proper grounding precautions before handling. Keep the new hard drive in its anti-static bag until you are ready to install it in its bay. Before handling, put on an ESD wrist strap and connect it to ground.
