IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 Integration Getting Started This Getting Started guide describes how to install and configure Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft® Office Communicator 2005 Integration. Requirements Your PC must meet the following minimum requirements to run Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 Integration: ● Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 is installed and operating properly. ● Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Service Pack 2 is installed and operating properly (if you want to integrate Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 with Microsoft Outlook). ● A hard disk with at least 50 MB of space available. Additional space will be required (over time) to store entries in the contact directory database and in the call history database. ● 1 Install Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration Software Perform the following steps to install the Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration software: 1. Download the Avaya IP Softphone Release 6.0 installer package to your PC. 2. Run the .msi setup file. 3. Follow the installation prompts. When the Feature Selection dialog box appears, be sure to select the IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration option button. The Connection Information dialog box will prompt you for the following information: ● your domain ● the host name of the server running the Avaya Integration Gateway service ● the port to connect to the Avaya Integration Gateway service ● the host name of Microsoft Office Live Communications Server (LCS) ● the URI that you want the Avaya Integration Gateway service to use to register with the LCS ● the URL to the tabs.xml file (for the Avaya tab in the Microsoft Office Communicator window) One of the following operating systems: - Microsoft Windows XP Professional with 512 MB of RAM - Microsoft Windows XP Home with 512 MB of RAM - Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with 256 MB of RAM ● Adobe® Flash® Player 6.0 or later. You must have also have an account on the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server. Note: Note: The information in the Connection Information dialog box should be prepopulated by your system administrator. Note: Before you can use Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration, you must know the following information: ● the IP address of your call server ● your extension on the call server ● your password Perform the following steps to start and configure Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration: 3 Make a Test Call Perform the following steps to verify that you can make calls from Avaya IP Softphone with Microsoft Office Communicator Integration: 1. From the Avaya IP Softphone window, select Settings>Dialing Properties. 1. Make sure Microsoft Office Communicator is not running. 2. Select Start>All Programs>Avaya IP Softphone. The Phone and Modem Options dialog box appears. A message box appears prompting you to configure the login settings. 2. Select the location that you want to use, and click Edit. 3. Click OK. The Edit Location dialog box appears. The Configuration Wizard dialog box appears. 3. Specify how you must dial telephone numbers from your office. For example, if you must dial 9 to make a local call, enter 9 in the appropriate box. Use the Area Code Rules tab to specify how to dial numbers in your area code. 4. Complete the Configuration wizard. After you complete the Configuration wizard, the Finish dialog box appears. 4. When finished, click OK. 5. Click Finish. 5. In the Microsoft Office Communicator window, right-click a contact to make a test call. The Login dialog box appears. 6. Select Call and the telephone number you want to dial. 6. Click the Log in button. A conversation window appears for the call. The Login Status dialog box appears. In the Microsoft Office Communicator Integration area, make sure the following information is displayed: Note: Note: ● Connection Status: Connected ● Registration Status: Registered ● Microsoft Office Communicator: Connected 7. If Microsoft Office Communicator is unable to dial the number appropriately, contact your system administrator. 7. Click Hang up to hang up the call.
