Session 1: iPad & iPod Management in Education - Corey Carson, Systems Engineer, Apple Education This session will focus on the technical aspects of using the iPad and iPod in education. From out-of-the-box configuration to purchasing apps to sync strategies, this presentation will help you better understand what workflows will work best for you in your environment. Session 2: Implementing the iPad & iPod in the Educational Environment - Maureen Melonis, MNS, CCC-SLP This session is designed for those who have a basic understanding of iPad operation but want to learn more about how to implement it. The presenter will share different apps organized by category of intervention (apps for speech therapy, behavior, math, memory, etc). Participants will learn how to evaluate apps that they may be considering and the importance of matching features of the app to the needs of the child. The session will primarily focus on apps for children birth to twenty-one but obvious applications for adults with disabilities will exist. Participants will be encouraged to share their own implementation stories of successes and challenges in using the iPad. Please see registration for full list of distance sites. While we have confirmed broadcasting capabilities with distance sites, UCDenver is not responsible for ensuring IT infrastructure for a seamless broadcast. BYODevice While iDevices are not necessary for participation in the day’s workshops, we invite all registrants to bring their own technology to enhance their learning. A list of apps to be discussed during the afternoon session will be provided to all registrants the week before the event date. Demonstration equipment will not be available on the day of the event. Corey Carson, has been with Apple Education as a Systems Engineer for the last 11 years. He currently focuses on technical solutions for Higher Education and K-12 customers in Colorado and Wyoming. Maureen Melonis, MNS, CCC-SLP, is Director of Assistive Technology Partners, Senior Instructor and AT Specialist. She serves as an AT consultant to the Colorado Department of Education, Exceptional Student Leadership Unit and is Principal Investigator for early intervention and AT services in the state.
