At that time, category 5 was the emerging standard and the main target was to move from coax-based Ethernet to twisted pairs technology. Project after project, improvement after improvement, we achieved a huge experience in design, products and applications. INTRODUCING IPS
I INTELLIGENT PATCHING 30
ntelligent patching systems are a combination of both hardware parts and software code providing the IT staff advanced network configuration capabilities. This job can be accomplished with various technical solutions at different sophistication levels. With IPS, we pursued the highest level of sophistication by providing a dramatically simple, yet effective, solution. IPS will save up to 30% of patching time and provide virtually zero mis-patching. IPS is based on its unique patch panels driven by the network management software, available for both category 6 unshielded and shielded networks. No specific patch cords are requested. IPS panels are characterised by multi colour LEDs on each port, and by a micro-switch sensing if the related patch cord is plugged or unplugged. Each group of patch panels (up to 16) is driven by a master patch panel which connects to the management console. IPS panels within the same group must be at a maximum distance of 2 meters. More groups of patch panels can be interconnected in a bus configuration, within a maximum distance of 1000 mtrs.
IPS’s network management software intelligently handles the full network configuration: A) at the initial stage, by supporting the IT staff to set up and simulate the patching configuration; B) during the patching operation, by guiding the IT staff to cross -connect patch cords by means of clear LED indications; and, C) during standard operation, by detecting and locating unauthorized or activity and generating alert messages. Phase (B) specifically is of great support to IT staff; patching phase is guided on a step by step basis by IPS management software, as LEDs related to ports to be patched are blinking until successful patching is made.
