IRT Learning Space Services Technology Training Learning Space Services Website Go to the IRT Learning Space Services webpage. Type www.csus.edu/irt/Classrooms in to the address bar of the web browser. Here you can find many helpful pages that will tell you about our classrooms on campus. To search for specific classrooms, click on the “Learning Space Inventory” button in the “Services” tab. Learning Space Inventory This is the Learning Space Inventory page. Here you can search for different classrooms. You can search by building, room number, type, number of seats, and media level. On here you can see what equipment is in the room, the number of seats, the environment, and a picture of the room. Media Types Advanced Technology Features a smart podium with a touch panel control system, PC and laptop connection, document camera, projector, and electric screen. These rooms feature environmental room upgrades including whiteboards, board lights, room lighting, acoustic panels, carpeting, and window treatments. Intermediate Technology Features a smart podium with a control panel, PC and laptop connection, projector, and screen. May also have a document camera. Also includes a whiteboard at the front of the classroom. Environmental room upgrades are not completed at this level. Basic Technology Includes a laptop connection, projector, DVD/VCR player, and screen. May also have an overhead transparency projector. Laptop Connections VGA: This cable is used for video. It is not on some newer laptops. This connection is found in all technology rooms on campus. Audio: This cable is used for audio. It is used with the VGA cable. HDMI: This cable is used for video and audio. It is mostly found on newer laptops. This connection is NOT currently available in basic technology rooms, and is not in all intermediate or advanced technology rooms. Ethernet: This cable is used to connect to the CSUS internet. Basic Technology Rooms Basic technology rooms allow you to use a DVD/VHS or a laptop. The DVD/VCR players are located in the room, but laptops are not provided. The cables in the room should be plugged in as shown in the picture on the left. Using the Control Panel On: Turns the projector on. Off: Turns the projector off. Laptop: Displays the device that is plugged in to the VGA cable and plays audio plugged in to the audio cable. DVD/VCR: Displays what the DVD/VCR player is playing. CC: Closed captioning decoder. AV Mute: Temporarily mutes audio and video. Push once to mute, push again to resume. Volume: Controls volume output level. Intermediate/Advanced Technology Rooms The intermediate and advanced technology rooms have very similar technology. All of the rooms have PCs, a VGA/audio laptop connection, projector, screen, and speakers. Some rooms contain a DVD/VCR player, a document camera, and/or an HDMI laptop connection. You can see what is in the room by looking at the Learning Space Inventory in the equipment column. Using the Control Panel Display On: Turns on the projector Display Off: Turns off the projector PC: Displays PC input Laptop: Displays laptop that is plugged in to the VGA cable and plays audio plugged in to the audio cable HDMI: Displays laptop that is plugged in to the HDMI cable Doc Cam: Displays document camera DVD/VCR: Displays DVD/VCR player AV Mute/Mute: Mutes the sound and video to the projector and speakers. You will still be able to see the image at the podium. Press once to turn mute on, press again to turn mute off. Volume: Adjusts the sound level. Document Camera There are document cameras in some intermediate technology rooms, and in all advanced technology rooms. Most document cameras are tabletop devices, but there are some ceiling document cameras on campus. All document cameras can be controlled by the control panel.
