Is it possible to manage complex processes more efficiently via radio? Industrial Wireless Communication creates new prospects for reliable automation. Answers for industry. 2 Industrial Wireless Communication creates new opportunities Future-oriented solutions for reliable automation Industrial communication is one of the keys for increasing efficiency, reducing total cost of ownership, and improving productivity. The enormous potential especially of wireless communication opens up new horizons – from partial modernization of a plant up to optimization of complex logistics and production processes. Based on Industrial Wireless Telecontrol, Industrial Wireless LAN and WirelessHART, Siemens offers solutions for reliable automation with Industrial SIMATIC NET – Industrial communication from Siemens Industrial Wireless Communication AS SIMATIC NET -In e fac IO -Li ter nk S IBU OF PR PR IndOFIN Eth ust ET / ern rial et Wireless Communication. Telecontrol Industrial communication is of critical importance for high-performance automation applications. Its diversity is reflected across the entire bandwidth of industrial communication solutions from SIMATIC NET, which goes beyond Telecontrol and Industrial Wireless Communication: with PROFINET/ Industrial Ethernet, PROFIBUS, AS-Interface, and IO-Link, it covers all fields of industrial communication. This guarantees that there is a solution for every application and every sector. 3 Industrial Wireless Communication Three options, one goal – maximum cost-effectiveness Industrial Wireless LAN. Flexible, plant-wide radio infrastructure Industrial Wireless Telecontrol. Economical and multi-faceted radio technology for long distances WirelessHART. Wireless connection of the process instrumentation Wireless solutions are increasingly becoming standard components of machines and plants. In cases where data communication requirements are very demanding, Industrial Wireless LAN (IWLAN) relies on innovations such as deterministic radio and PROFINET, the Industrial Ethernet standard. PROFINET opens up completely new perspectives, from efficient engineering and real-time solutions to safety-related tasks through the use of PROFIsafe via IWLAN. In addition, an IWLAN infrastructure can also be used for additional applications such as video monitoring. Continuous communication between areas of the plant that are situated far away from each other in the water/wastewater sector, or quick remote servicing access to machines and plants at the other end of the world are just two of the countless possibilities for using the advantages of Industrial Wireless Telecontrol (IWT). Process data transmitted via GSM/GPRS is available at any time by means of integration into the SINAUT telecontrol system or an HMI/SCADA system. WirelessHART is an open industry standard developed for the special wireless communication requirements on the field level in the process industry. It meets all of the specific requirements in terms of reliability, safety, cost-effectiveness, and operator-friendliness. With more than 30 million devices installed worldwide, HART technology is the most frequently used communication protocol for intelligent process instrumentation at the field level. WirelessHART is backward-compatible with the cable-based HART technology and it therefore provides maximum investment protection for hardware, software, and expertise. 4 Remote access level Internet Industrial Wireless Telecontrol (IWT) S7-200 with MD720-3 Control level Industrial Wireless LAN (IWLAN) S7-300 with MD741-1 S7-300F Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN S7-1200 with MD741-1 Remote Control Center SCALANCE W788-1PRO Antenna ANT795-6MN SCALANCE W786-2RR PROFINET Industrial Ethernet SCALANCE W746-1 IE/WSN-PA LINK ET 200S ET 200pro IWLAN Field level Sensor Standard HART devices with SITRANS AW200 SITRANS P280 G_IK10_XX_30238 WirelessHART SITRANS TF280 5 Industrial Wireless LAN On the safe side with SCALANCE W and SINEMA E Designed for industry. Right down to the smallest detail Whether inside a building or outdoors – the fault-free operation of a production plant or a container port demands certain details that office devices do not offer, e.g. fan-free design, DIN rail installation, especially rugged plug-in connectors, antenna diversity, and the facility for setting up redundant wireless systems. Industrial Wireless LAN from Siemens meets all of these requirements and also provides functions that ensure deterministic radio communication for cyclical data exchange. The complete solution encompasses access points, client modules, and wireless HMI and I/O devices along with comprehensive accessories and software. 6 Enhanced reliability. SCALANCE W example Accurate simulation. The quick way to the operating phase such as that required in automation can be sent wirelessly. SCALANCE W is a complete product family for Industrial Wireless LAN with different access points and client modules, and an extensive range of accessories. All components offer: extreme ruggedness, which sets the standards both for machine-level applications and harsh outdoor applications. This is because the high IP65 degree of protection, vibration resistance, and reliable use at temperatures of –40 to +70 °C are important features of our range of products. You can even count on uninterrupted functioning in the event of condensation. SINEMA E creates complete topographies and 3-dimensional scenarios, even for multi-story buildings. Thanks to the accurate simulation, the perfect interaction of all radio network nodes is determined and possible barriers and interference sources are detected in time. From preliminary technical clarification to detailed planning and simulation to commissioning support – including safety settings: SINEMA E is the efficient tool for preventing experiments and planning errors and to get to the operating phase more quickly. Both users and investors benefit from this. Wireless and Safety Integrated. Acknowledged reliability Deterministic behavior and real time. Process data transfer with IWLAN Everywhere where service-intensive contact wires, expensive trailing cables, or inflexible data light barriers are used, the RCoax leaky wave cable represents a reliable and economical alternative. It wins over customers in electric monorail systems, stacker cranes, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), or in crane systems. SINEMA E software. Reliably plan your Industrial Wireless LAN In order to be able to quickly and reliably plan IWLANs, Siemens has developed SINEMA E: a software program that allows you to have complete control of your IWLAN, from the planning phase to commissioning and beyond. In industry, everything depends on the reliable control of extremely fast, cyclical processes with the shortest possible response times. For this reason, Siemens has pushed forward with its PROFINET developments. Thanks to additional functions, called iFeatures, data traffic with IWLAN has been made definable to the extent that even time-critical process data Industrial Wireless LAN and PROFINET with PROFIsafe profile enable safetyrelated communication, even wirelessly (Safety Integrated). The Siemens applications tested by the German Technical Inspectorate (TÜV) and Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) show that safety and cost savings can be reliably harmonized with each other. RCoax innovation. The totally different antenna for new possibilities 7 Industrial Wireless Telecontrol Communicate around the world with GSM and GPRS SINAUT telecontrol system. Multi-faceted and economical GSM/GPRS modem MD720-3. Communicate flexibly worldwide EGPRS router MD741-1. The all-rounder with high-speed talent Efficient telecontrol technology is playing an ever increasing role in the monitoring and control of automated plants or vehicles which are located far from the control station, due in no small part to the continuously increasing requirements for flexibility and cost-effectiveness. Siemens provides the perfect solution for this with the SINAUT telecontrol system. With this quad-band mobile radio modem with an RS232 interface, it can be used in any of the GSM networks available around the world (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz range). A wide variety of data transmission services are available for this: • CSD (Circuit Switched Data): Data transmission by setting up a dial-up connection over the mobile radio network • SMS (Short Message Service): Sending of text messages • GPRS (General Packet Radio Service): Leased line with package transmission. Charging is based on the amount of data transferred. Even mobile stations such as ships can be connected to a central control system without any problems using the MD720-3. In addition, with the SINAUT modem, you can rely on the highest level of security (by means of encryption) and low operating costs due to optimized communication with small volumes of data. The SINAUT MD741-1 GPRS router can be used worldwide. It has an RJ45 interface and it allows data to be transmitted using the GPRS and the extremely fast EGPRS service of a GSM mobile radio provider – both for the SINAUT ST7 telecontrol system and for other Ethernet-based automation devices. It also scores points along the entire line with its extremely high level of security, low operating costs, and easy configuration. It is also ideal when used as quasi-dedicated line via GPRS. 8 SINAUT software. The concept encompasses the use of RFID, IWLAN based on IEEE 802.11, and an infrastructure adapted to the use of VoIP and PDA. 31 SCALANCE W access points for harsh environments and 8 HiPath access points in the office environment are operated on a redundant HiPath wireless controller. The advantage: Significantly improved business processes, enormous reductions in costs, and rapid amortization. Industrial Wireless LAN High performance in the container terminal Moving around 6,000 to 7,000 standard containers per ship is a typical work day at the Altenwerder container terminal (CTA) of the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG. CTA‘s recipe for success: Perfect interaction between an experienced crew and innovative technology. 84 perfectly coordinated automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are part of the future-oriented CTA concept. Industrial Wireless LAN reliably ensures optimum connections for this, day after day. Around the clock. The advantage: The AGVs learn intelligent driving at the CTA: Instead of being guided along a fixed route by a large induction loop as in previous applications, the 84 AGVs now find their optimum route between the bridge and the warehouse via the terminal software, which locates and controls the AGVs with the aid of transponders and wireless communication via IWLAN. 10 Increased productivity in final assembly Our wireless solutions are also used in the automotive industry: Nutrunner stations move on suspended monorails. They are supplied with power wirelessly. The data is transmitted via IWLAN. SCALANCE W access points, clients, and RCoax antennas ensure that information is transmitted about the suitable torque, acknowledged work steps, etc. The advantage: With SIMATIC NET, it was possible to reduce the number of nutrunners and to increase the availability due to freedom from wear. In addition, the timing of the entire assembly line can be adjusted more flexibly. The result: Increased productivity and further optimization of quality management. Industrial Wireless Telecontrol Secure and flexible remote servicing of wind farms Flender Service International, which runs the remote servicing of wind farms, relies on SINAUT and SCALANCE S in order to establish stable and secure communication connections without using telephone lines: With the SCALANCE S612 security module and the MD741-1 EGPRS router, an espionage- and tamper-proof connection is established to the remote stations. Flender benefits from 100% online access without any loss of data and from bidirectional communication capabilities. The advantage: Maximum data security and connection stability with maximum flexibility: No telephone lines required, mobile usage capabilities, and free selection of GPRS provider. Autonomous and economical water supply via GPRS On the one hand, the Croatian town of Virovitica would like to keep an eye on economical aspects of its water supply, but on the other hand, it would like to rely on autonomy. For this reason, the town has decided on communication via GPRS using the SINAUT MD720-3 modem, which will guarantee reliable communication completely independently of any telephone lines. The advantage: „Cost-effectiveness“ is the motto of this project: The investment rate is just as convincing as the communication system, which leads to long-term savings and the desired independence. WirelessHART More of everything – transparency, productivity, and performance Across many sectors, WirelessHart solutions show their best side in a wide variety of applications: Process monitoring and process control • Monitoring and control of non-critical processes • Measuring the levels in containers • Plant expansions and replacement of existing measuring equipment Asset Management • Maintenance, calibration, and logging • Device diagnostics Safety and environmental monitoring • Gas detectors • Water drain • Gas emissions • Pressure control valves • Condensation traps • Oil pressure • Decontamination showers Short-term measurement applications • Test measurements • Ad-hoc measurements • Redundancy measurements The advantage: The advantage for the user is the considerable improvement of the plant‘s transparency, productivity, and performance. 11 For further information on industrial communication, please visit: www.siemens.com/simatic-net Contacts in your area: www.siemens.com/automation/partner You can find additional information brochures and technical descriptions under Support on our Internet site.
