IS SOTHER RM CLE EAR ICE MAK KER ‘QU UICK ST TART’ GUIDE G The Isoth herm Clear IIce Maker iss a compact,, spray‐typee, ice maker that will produce up to 40 pound ds of crystall‐clear ice peer day. The Isotherm m Clear Ice Maker is designed to t work in a boating environm ment where other clear iice makers w will not. The ice produced p is a barrel‐shaped, crystaal‐clear ice tthat is very dense an nd slow‐melting. Clear ice does nott have air trrapped in it like convventional wh hite, crescen nt‐shaped icce. ‘White icce’ releases freezer air a in drinks as it melts and change es the flavor of drinks. The Isoth herm Clear Ice does no ot change the flavor off drinks, so whether you’re drinking water, sodas, or co ocktails, youu’ll get only or of the drin nk. the flavo The Isoth herm Clear Ice is stored d in an insu ulated bin. The ice is aalways a “loose ice” meeaning it never fre eezes into a a clump like e convention nal ‘white icce’ makers. Because itt is not stored in a freezer environment e t, the ice iss always reaady to be sccooped outt and is alw ways slowly melting. Because of this, a draain hose must be connected and dirrected down n to assure p proper drainaage. Ventilatio on is a key consideratio on when insstalling the Isotherm Clear Ice Makker. Air is p pulled in through the front an nd vented in the back. A Allow a pathh for air to leeave any cab binet into which the ice make er will be installed. Witthout good ventilation,, temperatures will risee in the cabiinet and restrict p proper produ uction of ice. CONNECT TING THE WA ATER SUPPLY AND DRAIN Water connections are e in the backk. The boat’ss pressurized hite, garden‐‐ main watter supply will be connectted to the wh hose style e connector. This connecttion has a solenoid which opens wh hen the ice maker enters tthe ‘defrost’ ccycle. A blue hose with h the proper ffitting is included. The barbe ed brass fittin ng is a specialty fitting for on‐demand, pump sup pplied water ffrom an auxiliary water supply. Do nott use this connector c or water will ru un unabated through thee machine unless it is used u with th he proper auxiliary waterr ee the manua al for more in nformation. supply. S A drain hose (supplied d with the un nit) is conneccted to the w water drain ffitting. Sincee the ice is heeld in an nvironment, it will alwayss be slowly m melting. Thee drain hose must be insulated bin and not a freezer en positioned d to flow dow wn for properr drainage.
HOW THEE ISOTHERM C CLEAR ICE MA AKER WORKSS Understan nding how th he Isotherm Clear Ice Maker works will help it op perate at peak performance. Once the unit is properly installed d with water and power supply, the ice maker mustt be primed with w S the unit is designed d to work in the water. Since rigorous marine m environment, it has a deep water w reservoir which keeps water from m spilling ou ut in rough conditions. c The reservoir r holds h approximately 1 gallon n of water. Before staarting the un nit for the firsst time and aafter an extensive period of time with hout being used u when watter may have evaporated, lift the white e curtains insi de the bin an nd pour water into the areea behind the curtaiins. This will replenish the e water in the e reservoir. When the e ice maker iss working, you will hear th he sound of s praying wateer and the compressor fan n blowing air. The water w from the t reservoir will be pumped through the spray baar and into the stainless ssteel ice‐ n. This proccess will conttinue for forming evaporator e which w looks liike an upside e‐down mini cupcake pan approximately 14 minu utes as the ice e builds up in nto a full, barrrel‐shaped cleear ice. The ice m maker will then enter into aa ‘defrost’ pe eriod where thhe solenoid in the water ssupply connection will open allowing water to run up a sttainless steel resupply pippe and wash over the top of the stainlless steel or. This releaases the ice w which slides do own an inclinned ramp, thrrough the currtains, and intto the ice evaporato bin. This proce ess will continue until ice fills the bin (approximateely 4 hours) w with 9 pound ds of crystal‐clear ice. When the e ice fills the bin and covers the sensorr bar mounteed on the left side of the b bin, the ice m maker will stop completely. No water will sp pray and the compressor will not run until ice is sscooped out or melts sufficientlly to uncover the sensor bar. CONTROLLS AND SETTINGS The icemaaker comes frrom the facto ory with settin ngs that will w work well forr most conditions. The user will only need to prime the watter and push h t setting s (2) reegulates thee the start button (1). The bin thermostat or bar and th he evaporatorr thermostat (3) regulatess sensitivityy of the senso the coldness of the evaaporator. The ese should no ot need adjusstment. The timerr (4) will rotaate as the unit goes throu ugh its cycles and will nott need anyy adjustment. It can be e rotated to o the defrostt zone as an n alternate way to replenish the wate er supply in th he reservoir.
MAINTEN NANCE The Isoth herm Clear Icce Maker, when w correctlly installed, will require minimum m maintenance. When necessaryy, the interiorr can be clean ned with mild d dishwashingg liquid and w water. A hosee can be used d to rinse out the re eservoir and ice‐forming arrea. Excess w water will run out the bin d drain. The drain n for water to o flow out of the bin is just below thee reservoir. TThis should b be clear of deebris that might clogg the drain or the drain hose. Water b backing up innto the bin will cause the ice to melt faaster and can be co orrected by clearing the drain and makking sure thee drain hose iis clear and n not kinked orr running above the e drain outlet fitting. There is aa strainer just inside the m main water connection in thhe solenoid aassembly. If tthis gets cloggged from debris fro om the boat’s water supplyy, it can be disassembled aand cleaned. THE ISOTH HERM CLEAR R ICE MAKER: A “YACHTSM MAN’S” ICE M MAKER The Isotherm Clear Ice e Maker makkes the highesst quality ice available. W With proper in nstallation an nd use, it will produce plentiful ice for drin nks, coolers or o to share w with fellow b boaters. For further installation, operatingg, and trouble eshooting detail, please reaad manual inccluded with eeach ice makeer. Enjoy!
