ISM MTP UT 4DA Output Board Installation Notes ISM MTP UT 4DA
The Extron ISM MTP UT 4DA is a twisted pair transmitter board for the ISM 824 with four RJ-45 outputs, two RS-232 inserts, and local audio output. The board mounts in one of the four vertical expansion slots (numbered 1 to 4) at the rear of the ISM 824. For full operating details of the ISM refer to the 1 2 3 4 ISM 824 User’s Manual, online at www.extron.com. Tx Rx

4. With the board upright, align the front (non connector end) of the board with the top and bottom plastic guides in the ISM 824. Slide the board in carefully, keeping within the guides. Push it home firmly, and secure it with the retained screws. 5. If applicable, repeat steps 2 through 4 for any other output boards. 6. Power on the ISM 824. The new output board(s) is auto-detected, and takes approximately 30 seconds to initialize. The LCD display indicates the new board type, New ISM MTP UT 4DA slot used, and counts down the initialization time. See inset for example Slot #3 18 display for a new ISM MTP UT 4DA board installed in Slot #3. Pins: 12345678
7. Using suitable twisted pair cables connect any MTP receiver, DA, or switcher to the RJ-45 twisted pair outputs on the installed boards. See wiring details at right. N
Use the same standard at both ends of the twisted pair cable.
8. Insert a 5-pole captive screw connector from an audio device into the local audio output connector for balanced or unbalanced stereo audio. Wire the connector as shown below.

9. Connect a control device to RS-232 insert 1/2 (for outputs 1 and 2), or insert 3/4 (for outputs 3 and 4). This allows bidirectional, pass-through control signals to and from the control device and the MTP devices on ports 1 and 3, and unidirectional pass-through signals from the control device on ports 2 and 4. Ports 1 and 2 always receive the same RS-232 command signal, but only port 1 allows for bidirectional communications. The same is true for ports 3 and 4, where port 3 allows for bidirectional communications (see right).
