IT900 ZigBee Commissioning Guide      NOTE:  Before you can install and configure your ZigBee module, follow the thermostat installation  guide to complete the wiring and installation of your thermostat. Once you have finished the thermostat  installation you are then ready to configure your ZigBee module as described in the following  instructions.    1. INSTALL ZigBee Radio Module (Skip to step 2 if the module is already installed)    The ZigBee module is a pluggable radio module (located on the top left of the thermostat) that can be  easily plugged into the IT900 thermostat as follows:   Turn off power to the thermostat   Gently remove the thermostat from the backplate that mounts it to the wall.  This can be  accomplished by grasping the thermostat at the four corners (see red arrows in FIGURE 1) and  gently pulling away from the wall.                            FIGURE 1     Set the thermostat aside.   The thermostat is shipped with a cover snapped into the module access hole of the thermostat’s  backplate that must be removed to install the ZigBee module.  Remove this access hole cover by  gently pushing up on the cover from underneath to snap it loose.                              FIGURE 2     With the access hole cover removed, slide the module into the access hole.  The ZigBee radio  module is designed with two “wings” on the plastic case that should align with slots in the back  1     of the thermostat backplate.  Ensure the wings are lined up with the slots as you start to install  the module.  Gently insert the module into the slot until it is firmly seated in the module slot.  Gently press down on the module until the two guide pins of the module are seated into the  slots and the connectors are mated.  WARNING: DO NOT PUSH WITH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE IF  THE MODULE DOES NOT SEAT CORRECTLY AS DAMAGE COULD OCCUR TO BOTH DEVICES.                              FIGURE 3       The module is now installed in the thermostat and ready to be commissioned.  Snap the thermostat back onto the thermostat backplate.  Now that the ZigBee radio module and thermostat are installed in the thermostat backplate,  turn the power on for the thermostat.    2. Commission the ZigBee Module  To commission your ZigBee IT900 thermostat, you will need to do the following:   Enter the IT900 Installer Menu by pressing and holding the Left Arrow  and Right Arrow  at  the same time for approximately 3 seconds.  You will be asked to confirm that you wish to enter  this menu – press the center ACTION button   to enter the menu.   After entering the Installation Menu, press the Down Arrow   to highlight Communications  Setup then press the ACTION button   to select the menu item.            FIGURE 4     Press the Down Arrow   to highlight ZigBee Interface then press the ACTION button   to  select the menu item.            FIGURE 5  2    The ZigBee Interface screen shows installation & connection status information for the ZigBee Module.   When you first enter this screen, you should see the following information:            FIGURE 6        FIGURE 7  MAC: Unique device identifier that the utility will need to commission your device.  IC: Installation Code that the utility will need to commission your device.  PAN: Meter specific information.  If not yet commissioned, same as the last 4 digits of  the Zigbee Module MAC.  o STATE: State of the ZigBee network.   Coordinator: Not connected to a ZigBee network.   Joined: Commissioned and communicating to a ZigBee network.   Not on Network: Currently not commissioned and not attempting to connect.    Scanning: Actively scanning for a ZigBee network to join.  o CHAN: Radio channel the ZigBee Module is communicating on.  o GMAC: Smart Meter unique device identifier that displays once commissioned.  If not  commissioned, this number will be the same as the MAC.  o FW: ZigBee Module firmware version.  You are now ready to contact your utility to request that they enable your Smart Meter for  commissioning.  You will need to provide the utility with the MAC & IC values for your module.  If the ZigBee Module is not yet commissioned, it will automatically scan for your enabled Smart  Meter on a regular basis on its own until it does connect.  However, while on the phone with the  utility, you can also force the ZigBee Module to scan immediately by pressing the RESCAN  button.  NOTE: RESCAN should only be pressed when the STATE field shows as COORDINATOR or NOT  ON NETWORK.  Pressing it when JOINED will cause your thermostat to leave the network.  You can confirm the ZigBee Module is connected to your Smart Meter by confirming the value  of the STATE field which should display JOINED.  o o o                     FIGURE 8        FIGURE 9  Once your device is commissioned, press the HOME key to return to the main operating screen.  3     The Link icon should be displayed indicating a link with the network.    FIGURE 10    4
