Littleguns ast issue I had a look and a listen to sYslem, Jamot A 200 HCS 5 sPeaker which has been designedto visually malch flat Paneltelevisions. This issuel've been lucky enough to have reviewed their little cousins'the A l0l HCS 5 sYstem. There are obviously quirc a few differences between the satellitespeakersof the l0l HCS and those of the 200 HCS' Obviouslythe l0ls are smaller'and this makesthem even easierto integratewith an
ultra $in television.Theyuse one lessdriver' a sinslefull ranRedriver.as opPosedto the li$le *olof.. .nd w""t". on the 200s their wall/ srand mounting method is a little simPlei and they use sPrinS-loadedclips to secure sPeaker cabiesrather than the higher quality binding posts on the bi88er models. The biSges!differencebetween the two systemsIies in their respecdvesubwoolers' and here, desPitethe l0l HCS 5 system sellingfor considerablylessthan the 200' I actuallvDreferredthe sub suPPliedwith 't'
This featured the same amplifier power and frequency range of the 200 sub,but used a Dassiveradiator.and was a lot sleeker'lt looked quite a bit like the EarlhquakeCouch Potato sub I reviewed some time back' ano beinq a slim sub,it can be hidden under a tablJor couch.lt can also be wall mounted' and I can lhink of quite a few PeoPlethat would be rather pleasedwith lhe extra Dlacementopdons the l0l sub offers' Svstemset up is about as straight forward as vou could wanq and all you really need

vvEBSITE to think about is your speakermounting options.I usedboth the sLrpplied standsand wall mounts. Nexr up I set speakerlevelsand beganro lrstenro the l0 | HCS s/stem,and when it.s designspecifications were kept in mind, this provedto be a fun experience. The system won't rattle your raflers.and it probablywon't haveyour neighbourscomplainingabout your choiceof entertainment, but then the l0l HCS systemhasnt been designed to be an audiophile's dreamsystem. It hasbeendesignedto deliversound rhat Jamo sa),,s is a vast and impressive improvemen! over what is offered by moderntelevisions. Now lstill havean old fashionedtelevision ar home, one wrrh spacefor actualburk in speakercabinets, and for a televisionit sounds decenLand certainlybetter than your average
flat paneltelevision. What !his mean!,was that the soundthe l0l systemwas being comparedto, was alreadya levelaboveflat paneltelevisionsThis didn'tmatter anthe least,as in every performanceaspectthe l0 | HCS system soundedbetter than my television. For one, havingfive main speakersmeant that there was real surroundsound, and not some pseudosimulation. Havinga subwoofer meanthaLLherewas a real bassfoundauonto movies, and while the sub didn't playtoo low, it still deliveredsoundan octaveor lwo lower rhanmy relevisionever could. HavinSdiscretespeakersalsomeantthat the l0l HCS was ableto delivera wider front stage.and one with more focused centrefocus.
