IMA fits well in environments where gradual increase in line capacity is needed, and implementing a high-capacity solution (e.g. optical fiber) is not feasible. Accurately testing the combined ATM traffic transported over a bundle of E1 or T1 lines can be challenging for traditional network testing equipment. Looking at individual E1/T1 links, or multiple individual links simultaneously is meaningless without the higher-level IMA technology view. The software can analyze data from one IMA group at a time. While the primary purpose of the J6825A product is to allow Signaling Analyzer to take measurements on networks using IMA technology, the product also enables some lower-level IMA statistics.
