Proper use of FliteDeck can enhance positional awareness, assist with in-flight re-planning, and provide valuable information for normal and emergency operations. With JeppView FliteDeck, you also have the ability to view critical weather data using your XM WxWorx Satellite Weather service.◊ You can install JeppView, JeppView FliteDeck or both of these programs for personal use on a total of four computers. Refer to the license agreement for details. XM Weather (WX) provides service to Canada, and the contiguous US (all states except Alaska and Hawaii), its territories and adjacent waters. For current information contact XM WX at 1-800-985-9200. * The Skybound USB adapter requires 300mA of power. To work correctly, some data card and media adapters require a USB hub capable of providing more than 100mA of power through the port. ** SkyBound driver support for Windows 7 is scheduled to become available in 2010. Refer to Microsoft© or your device driver manufacturer for the driver status of other external media devices. Creating your First RoutePack and Route When you open JeppView, the RoutePack Wizard appears. Think of a RoutePack as a briefcase containing flight information for a complete trip. A RoutePack can include one or more routes, airports, terminal charts, and waypoints along the route. The information in the RoutePack can be used with any RoutePack-compatible program, such as JeppView FliteDeck and FliteStar. You can save RoutePack files to a USB memory device, email them, and move them to other computers. To create a RoutePack and a route, follow these steps: 1. Click to check each item you want to update, and click OK. Updating terminal chart data and NavData separately might reduce your overall download time. VISTA Users: When updating online, after the data downloads, Microsoft Vista® User Account Control requires permission for the update Setup to open. The UAC permissions dialog times out after two minutes. If you don’t respond within the two minutes, UAC closes the update Setup. You must manually restart the Setup and click through the UAC dialog to continue. 8 6. To print all of the charts at once, right-click on the name of the RoutePack, My First RoutePack, and choose Print. 7. S elect the desired check boxes, and click Print or Print Preview. S ave your RoutePack by right-clicking the RoutePack name, My First RoutePack, then clicking Save. Leave the default folder selected and click Save. Working with the Airport List The Airport List contains all of the airports in your JeppView coverage area. European VFR charts (formerly the Bottlang Airfield Manual) were added with the introduction of JeppView version 3.5. If you have a VFR chart subscription, the Airport List displays the European VFR airport and chart icons in green. With an IFR and VFR subscription, IFR airport icons are blue and VFR airport icons are green to help distinguish between the two types. 1. T o sort the airports alphabetically by name, click the Name column. An arrow marks the column by which the list is sorted, and indicates descending or ascending order. 10 2. To sort the Airport List by distance from an airport in the list: • Right-click an airport in the Airport List. • Select Show Distance From Here in the right-click menu. • T he distance from the selected airport displays in the Distance from column. The Airport List displays the airports in order from the airport closest to the selected point at the top of the list, to the airport farthest away at the bottom. 3. T o find an airport in the list, type the full or partial name or identifier in the Search field in the lower left of the Airport List. The Airport List moves to display the first match. 4. T o add an airport to your RoutePack outisde the route, click the name of the airport in the Airport List, hold down the mouse button, and drag it onto the RoutePack name, My First RoutePack, in the RoutePack list and let go of the mouse button to drop it. JeppView creates an Other Charts folder below the route waypoints. This allows you to add non-route airports and charts for quick access and printing along with the route charts. 6. To add an airport from the Airport List to the route, drag a different airport onto the route name located just below the RoutePack name, My First RoutePack. This adds the airport to the beginning of the route and not to the Other Charts folder. You can move the airport in the route by dragging it below another airport or waypoint. 7. T o print charts for an airport in the Airport List, right-click on an airport and choose Print. Use the following methods to select multiple airports: • T o select consecutive airports in the list, press SHIFT while clicking two airports. All items between the two choices are selected. • T o select non-consecutive airports, press CTRL and click once on each airport to select it. 11 Printing a Subscription Revision Letter To print a subscription Revision Letter from the Airport List, follow these steps: 1. C heck that filters are inactive in the filter status at the bottom of the Airport List window. Active filters may hide some airports in your subscription. The Revision Letter reports only on the airports shown in the Airport List. 2. Select all of the airports in the Airport List by selecting any airport and pressing CTRL+A. 3. Right-click inside the Airport List and click Print. 4. In the Printing dialog box, select the Revision Letter check box. 5. S elect the Only Changed Charts check box to print the Revision Letter and all of the charts that have been added or modified. To print only the Revision letter, uncheck this box. 6.
