Prima Electro North America Convergent Photonics Division 711 East main Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, USA t. +1(413) 598-5200 f. +1 (413) 598-5201 JOB TITLE: Fiber Manufacturing Technician SUMMARY: To perform a wide variety of complex optical fiber and electronic assembly related to manufacturing and assembly and product repair. Handle, prepare and splice optical fiber and optical fiber components/devices in clean room environments. Handle, solder and wire electrical (PCB) and opto-electrical devices in ESD controlled environments. Electro/mechanical/optical assembly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • • • • • • • • • • • • Utilizes written (printed and electronic) assembly procedures and forms to assemble optical and electrical devices. Handling and processing optical fiber and epoxies to make delicate optical components. Splicing & cleaving optical fiber. PCB installation and component soldering with ESD precautions. Entering and tracking assembly and test data into Excel. Must be able to work on solitary tasks for long periods of time with minimal supervision. Reports to supervisor and follows a set of standards and procedures to perform routine work. Seeks supervisory approval on non-routine tasks. Ability to work in clean room environment and follow proper clean room protocol. Ability to use test equipment ( DMM , Oscilloscope ) Perform various complex Optical & Mechanical testing Perform to conduct High Power laser module testing and final laser testing QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • • • • • • • Requires the ability to follow detailed technical procedures and electronic data entry at time of assembly. Attention to detail. Requires thorough working and technical understanding of the metric system and Si units. Mathematics (at high-school level ) Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and windows file system. Soldering and basic electrical test equipment experience (ESD experience also desired) Excellent eye sight, fine motor skills, and precision handling techniques (steady hand, microscope level work, and excellent hand eye coordination). EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • • • • 1-2 years of electrical soldering and/or optical fiber splicing. 2-4 years of industrial fiber optic manufacturing experience preferred. Associates degree or equivalent. Knowledge of ISO quality systems advantageous. Send your application to: [email protected]
