Interiors PR [email protected] 920-457-4441 x. 72340 KALLISTA PRESENTS BARBARA BARRY COUNTERPOINT Barbara Barry Expands Kallista Repertoire with a Collection of Simple Sophistication KOHLER, Wis. – Kallista, a leading provider of luxury plumbing products recently unveiled Counterpoint by internationally renowned, multi-disciplined designer, Barbara Barry. Inspired by the elegance and simplicity of modern design, Counterpoint reflects Barry’s signature chic sensibility and sophisticated presence of line. Representing Barry’s fourth commercial plumbing line for Kallista, Counterpoint offers multiple products for a wide range of installations. The collection includes a console table with marble top; basin sets; deck-mounted bath set; lighted medicine cabinet; a sconce featuring a rock crystal back plate and detailing; thermostatic, pressure balance, volume control and three-way transfer valve trim; wall-mounted hand shower; showerhead; 24-inch towel bar; hook; and toilet paper holder. “Counterpoint reflects the minimal elegance of the 1930s which was so stylish,” said Barry. “I am always interested in creating a mood for a room. I believe we’ve achieved this with Counterpoint… simple, yet sensual, evoking a modernism with beautiful details. Fixtures that hit the sweet spot between cold modern and stuffy traditional with a warm sensibility that delivers a lot of style in an understated way.” The centerpiece of the collection is a console table expertly crafted and thoughtfully scaled to stand alone or be paired dependent upon space requirements and personal taste. The console table top is cut from a single block of marble, with two marbles selected for the collection: Statuary White, a pure white marble veined in grey, or Crema Marfil, a warm cream with delicate, neutral toned veining. The console table is a lithe form, its base and legs handcrafted from hardwood solids and veneers. The clever base design features two flanking pull-out drawers and turned front legs designed in an inverted taper that terminates en pointe. more… Kallista Presents Barbara Barry’s Counterpoint, Page 2 The console table is offered in two wood finishes, Barry’s signature deep, dark Java finish, or the warmer tones of Brunette, a new finish designed exclusively for the collection. Both finishes are handapplied to bring out the fine veneer figuring and softly honed finish. Later in 2010, a coordinating Counterpoint vanity will be added to the collection. “As an American designer, I feel free to invent forms that create their own context for modern living,” continued Barry. “I strive to design objects and forms that create a melody of rhythm and balance. This is at the heart of Counterpoint.” The basin set offers a choice of handle styles: Statuary White stone knob handles, and hand-cast, finish-matched brass lever or knob handles. The faucet is equipped with a 1.5 gpm laminar flow aerator, making it an ecologically considerate choice. Kallista utilizes the finest valves in all its faucets to ensure years of maintenance-free use. Featuring diamond-hard, ceramic discs, instead of conventional seat washers, assure that the installation will be leak-free even in the hardest water conditions. Offered in Chrome, Brushed Nickel, or Nickel Silver, Kallista living finishes, are designed to patina over time and wear naturally providing each piece with its own unique warmth and character. Another show stopping component to this collection is the medicine cabinet. It features a rectangular beveled crystal clear mirror framed in either Chrome, Nickel Silver or Brushed Nickel, its top etched in Barry’s signature Starburst motif. The cabinet opens by a single hand-cast, finish-matched brass knob and houses three adjustable glass shelves. The cabinet is thoughtfully fitted with a low wattage LED nightlight which turns on automatically in low-light conditions, eliminating fumbling for a switch in the dark or the resulting jolt of bright light. The hand shower features sprayface nozzles that resist hard water build-up and are easy to clean, while the handle is fitted with an internal water channel to prevent it from overheating during use. The toilet paper holder has an innovative rotating arm instead of the standard spring loaded tube allowing the arm to pivot up to 90 degrees in rotation for easy replacement of the roll. “I design what I want for myself,” concluded Barry. “The Counterpoint Collection is designed to work with various components in an easy and seamless way. The collection is made up of pieces that are elegant and restrained, creating a relaxed but sophisticated mood. Whether in the hands of professional interior designers or consumers, Counterpoint will make spaces feel timeless and enduring.” Kallista is known for its designs of luxury plumbing products, offering faucets and fixtures thoughtfully created for tasteful, whole-bath solutions.
