KEEPING YOU INFORMED FOR YOUR FAMILY
IN CASE OF ANYTHING 086 162 7732 marshall security
@marshall_sec
In a world that is filled with so much negativity and fear, Marshall Security is dedicated to giving you peace of mind, by offering a service tailored to bettering our community, to taking north Durban back from that negative element, from the crime and the fear and giving it back to the families, to the neighbours, to the kids visiting friends down the street. Here is a little of what we did for your family and ours over the last month.
SPECIAL FEATURE Special Operations Unit Did you know that Marshall Security run a Special Operations unit? It’s not a service that you will find listed on your invoice either. Why? Because you don’t pay for it… we do. It’s just a little something extra that we like to do, personally. It’s a unit that consists of Marshall management and team leaders who, instead of just sitting behind a desk all day, get behind the wheel at night, or when needed, to respond to emergencies and special or tricky situations as well. It’s one of those little ways that we, as a company, prove our commitment to the community we live in.

MEET MARSHALL SPOTLIGHT ON: : JOHN HAUSER (Manager - Armed Response and Human Resources) 1. How long have you worked for Marshall? Been with Marshall 4 years now. 2. What did you do today? Woke up as normal 04h45, went to gym and had a good workout. Back home for breakfast then brought our latest addition, the drug dog, to the office, down to the field and buildings for a bit of training and detection work. Back to the office to catch up on paperwork and then went out on the road to visit the reaction members and do a bit of crime prevention in the area. 3. Why do you do what you do? I have a huge passion for this type of work, although it still requires a lot of commitment and patience I would never change it. 4. What do you think makes Marshall different? Marshall is driven through commitment and dedication and I firmly believe that if we treat all our customers as if they are our only customer/client, and provide them with a service that they need and want, we will be the best. Marshall is very community driven and dedicated to service. 5. Best part of the job? Is knowing that my members /staff are happy and that they will keep our customers/clients happy. 6. A little background information / what did you do before Marshall? Before joining Marshall I had my own successful business within the security industry, and had the opportunity to amalgamate with Marshall. I could foresee that it would be great to bring the two brands together and move forward as one, being MARSHALL since then we have grown from strength to strength. Prior to that I was with the Durban Metro dog unit as an instructor/handler

ARRESTS & RECOVERIES Collard Road – Umgeni Park, Sunday, 06 July – 15.00 One of our armed Reaction Officers was patrolling along Collard Road in Umgeni Park when he noticed three men cutting down Telkom cables. The suspects fled when they saw the vehicle approach, but our officer gave chase and apprehended one of them. The cable, together with others found hidden in a nearby bush, was recovered and the suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS members.
Villiage Way – Sunningdale, Thursday, 17 July – 11.00 We received multiple calls and a panic signal from residents when a group of suspects in a red Audi convertible derailed a driveway gate and were attempting to force open a front door with a crowbar. The suspects were confronted by a neighbor and then fled in their vehicle. One of the suspects didn’t make it to the getaway vehicle in time and jumped into a neighbouring property instead. Our first officer was on the scene within a minute. He apprehended the suspect that was on foot. The details of the suspects’ vehicle were then circulated, and a short while later it was stopped by the Inanda Tactical Response Team who arrested three more suspects. A number of housebreaking implements were found in the vehicle.

ARRESTS & RECOVERIES (continued) Tyne Avenue – Avoca, Friday, 18 July – 12.00 Our control room received a call from a resident who stated they were busy watching suspects breaking into a home. Multiple response vehicles were dispatched, but our dedicated Effingham vehicle was first on the scene. As the officer approached the house he noticed a white Toyota Corolla reversed up the driveway, and 3 suspects fleeing the home and jumping into the vehicle. The suspects drove directly at the reaction officer who had exited his vehicle, and tried to run him over. The officer managed to avoid being hit, climbed back into his car and gave chase. The driver of the getaway car lost control of the vehicle in Matheran Road and crashed it. All of the suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the surrounding bush. A second response vehicle had been directed to Avoca Road where it was assumed the suspects would attempt to exit the bush. They did exactly that, and our second officer apprehended two of the suspects as they emerged. The third suspect was arrested by the SAPS a short while later. Numerous housebreaking implements were found inside the suspects’ vehicle.
CBD, Saturday, 19 July We received a call from a member of the public who asked if we could assist in locating a stolen cell phone. The phone had been stolen a few hours previously at a nightclub in the CBD. As our members began tracking the phone they noticed it was on the move through Phoenix and Inanda stopping in Amaoti. Our members proceeded to the location indicated and began questioning residents of a home there. The residents denied any knowledge of the phone or its whereabouts despite the fact that the signal was clearly coming from the house. A resident of the house then exited the house and attempted to dispose of a bag by throwing it into some nearby bush. The bag was located and was found to contain the stolen phone and the wallet and ID document of the suspect, which they had forgotten to remove in their hurry to dispose of the evidence. The phone was handed back to its grateful owner.

ARRESTS & RECOVERIES (continued) A reminder that most modern smart phones and computer tablets that have a SIM card installed have tracking Apps loaded on them. If not, there are a number of tracking Apps available that can be downloaded, for example Apple’s “Find My iPhone” App. The programs should be installed, left active and the login details on the App memorized in case the device should someday be stolen. This is an extremely helpful tool to assist in tracking Housebreaking, Hijacking and Theft suspects.
Girvan Avenue – Park Hill, Sunday, 26 July – 23.00 Our control room received a report that an unknown female victim was desperate for assistance, as a man with a firearm was threatening to kill her. Two of our reaction vehicles responded and apprehended a male suspect who was driving a black BMW. The victim reported that she had been taken hostage by the man who had then taken her to the cemetery, where he had threatened to shoot and bury her. The victim managed to lock the suspect out of his vehicle resulting in him breaking a window to get to her. The suspect denied having a firearm, but a gun - which turned out to be a gas operated replica - and a holster were found by our members in some nearby bush. The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

A huge thanks to Tyron, John and Zandre from Marshall Security who really went above and beyond to recover a cell phone that was lost in Ballito. It was traced and chased from Glen Anil, to Somerset Park and then finally to a shopping centre in Mt Edgecombe “East”. Some good detective work led them to questioning some Garden Service labourers and the phone was found. They then took the culprit to his home in KwaMashu to recover the memory card. Thanks so much once again. Truly great service and very refreshing.
Hi Guys, Thanks so much for your fast response to the car on fire and bringing the fire under control. To Marshall Security’s Sugen, thank you for your very prompt follow up and for calling the fire brigade for us, and thanks to our Marshall guards on site that ran with fire extinguishers to assist us. Kind Regards, Trish
Morning Justin, We recently had a house sitter in our home for a 2 week stay while we were away on holiday. Our alarm did go off in the early hours of one of the mornings and I just want to convey my appreciation and gratitude to your officers (James and Farad), for the way in which it was handled. They personally came into the house, sat and reassured my terrified house sitter and did a full internal and external check of the house before leaving. Please convey to your officers my sincere appreciation for their dedicated service; it was most appreciated. Kind Regards, Julie

AREA PATROL REPORTS Burndale Patrol
Gelderland Patrol
Wednesday, 16 July - 19.45 we were informed that an armed robbery had occurred in Burndale Place. The gardener had heard a noise in the house, and upon investigating, found a suspect inside. A second suspect appeared with a firearm but the staff member managed to get to the neighbours and report the incident. A Porsche Cayman, 4 TV’s, a safe and other small items were taken.
Tuesday, 8 July – 04.27 a bicycle was stolen from a home in Gelderland Avenue. The suspect was caught with the bicycle and the owner opened a case of theft against him.
Beckenham Patrol Sunday, 13 July – 16.10 a resident in Beckenham Place called in to report suspects on site. The gate lock was found to be broken but the suspects could not be located. Wednesday, 30 July – 16.20 a resident in Beckenham Place reported that her gate had been tampered with. We found that the battery had been taken from the gate motor. It appears that vagrants living in the valley, the Japanese Gardens and in the beach bush are stealing 12v batteries to power radios etc., as they have no access to electricity. We have just recently arrested another suspect for stealing gate motor batteries in roughly the same area.
Laughton Patrol Wednesday, 23 July – 02.24 we responded to a panic activation in Laughton Avenue to find a suspect had damaged an electric fence whilst escaping a neighbouring home. He had entered the original premises through an open upstairs bathroom window, and fled with a box of imitation jewelry.
Wedgewood Patrol Tuesday, 24 June- 06.20 suspects smashed the glass of a sliding door at the back of a home in Wedgewood Crescent, whilst the residents were in the house, and made off with a laptop. Wednesday, 2 July – 09.20 a resident in Wedgewood Avenue called in to report her handbag had been stolen, through an open window, at some point the previous night. Friday, 4 July – 03.32 suspects entered a property in Wedgewood Crescent from the bush and climbed on to an upstairs balcony where they forced the sliding door. A DVD player and cell phone were taken. They then broke a downstairs window and took a laptop. These three incidents took place at two neighbouring properties where the suspects had managed to come through some bush bordering Anthony Road and the Bird Park.
Kerhode Patrol Saturday, 21 June – 09.40 we were informed that a home had been broken into in Kerhode Place. Suspects cut the rear electric fence, got through an unlocked window and took a 42-inch LCD TV.
Chelsea and Regent Patrol
Virginia Patrols
Tuesday, 1 July a garage in Chelsea Drive was broken into at some stage during the early hours of the morning and three bicycles were taken. Suspects had removed a burglar guard to gain access to the garage, which was not alarmed. The resident was away at the time.
Friday, 25 July – 01.08 a resident in Kentucky Drive heard noises in the yard. Suspects on the property jumped over the rear wall and through into Vickers Place and fled.
Sunday, 13 July – 04.39 suspects entered a property in Regent Place from Chelsea Drive and stole bicycles from a shed in the back garden. The area was searched but there was no sign of the suspects or the bikes.
Armed Response 086 162 7732
