DESCRIPTION This kit supplies the necessary parts to retrofit a “Carousel” micropulse valve assembly into a standard RIGHT (or COLOR) removable hopper in place of the standard 1” valve normally used. This kit will work with a RIGHT hand removable hopper sold from January 2005 or later. If attempting to retrofit to an earlier model hopper, contact Maguire’s service / parts department to determine the correct kit for your needs.

Remove existing valve assembly from hopper A) Unplug airline from valve B) Unfasten and remove sheetmetal cover (save fasteners for reuse). C) Unfasten and remove valve assembly (save fasteners for reuse). D) Remove brass fitting straight fitting from valve (save for reuse). E) Remove o-ring fastening black nylon bushing to the hopper bottom and then remove the bushing itself. 2. Remove the air fittings that pass through the outside of the hopper wall (These fittings will be replaced with a new regulated needle valve setup) A) Unscrew outer and inner elbow fittings from each other B) Remove both halves from the hopper C) Remove male quick connect fitting from brass elbow 3. Install new needle valve fitting setup in hopper wall as shown

D) Plumb airline to valve. 5. Setup controller to run micropulse valve. There are two steps to this. First you need to change the pulse output parameter for the desired component. A) Put the STOP/END OF CYCLE switch in the down position. B) Press *22222 to enter the program mode. You will see the letter P on the left hand side of the display. C) Press the PARA key until the correct _PO parameter shows up. 4 S/W: Additive parameter is APO, Color parameter is CPO. 12 S/W: Parameter is desired component number then the letters PO D) Enter 00101 is the new parameter. This sets the solenoid for that component to pulse every 1/10 of a second when activated. E) Press EXIT once to leave the parameters list.

KIT-105A: CMP Retrofit, RIGHT Removable Hopper, 1” Valve w/ Bushing Maguire Products, Inc. maguire.com 24 Feb 2010 Second, you need to perform a rate calibration for this component with the new pulse output. You will need material in the hopper for this step. F) Press the CAL key. Display will show [ CALIB _ ] G) Press the appropriate component key 4 S/W: Enter either the COL or ADD key. 12 S/W: Enter the correct component number. The valve will perform a 2 second dispense, followed by a weighing. Due to the slower throughput of this valve, the software will then perform a longer 20 dispense followed by a weighing, followed by a dump to empty the weigh bin. At this point the valve has been calibrated. H) Press EXIT when finished to leave the program mode. I) Put the STOP/END OF CYCLE switch in the up position to resume normal operation. 6. Adjusting the needle valve fitting to control micropulse valve. Adjustment screw should be set to about 5-6 complete turns out from fully closed to begin with. After that adjust by sound, if the valve sounds sluggish open up a little bit, if the valve is slamming extremely hard, close it a bit. If necessary, you can go back into the program mode and use the manual operate function to help with adjusting the valve: A) Again, put the STOP/END OF CYCLE switch in the down position and press *22222 to get to the program mode. B) Press OPER key. Display will show [OPERATE _ ] C) Press the desired component key. Valve will start to operate D) Adjust the needle valve adjustment screw with the valve in operation E) When finished, press the same component key again to stop operation of the valve. F) Press EXIT to leave operate screen. G) Press EXIT again to leave program mode. H) Put the STOP/END OF CYCLE switch in the up position to resume normal operation.
