The Connectivity People What is High Speed Data (HSD)? High Speed Data allows an Inmarsat B user send data at a rate of 64K. This makes it easy to browse the Internet, transfer files, send and receive emails and perform real-time videoconferencing using a PC connected to an Inmarsat B. Compared to the Inmarsat B's MSD function of 9.6Kbps this is a dramatically faster data connection. Faster connections will reduce the airtime used for sending email and large files. Reduced airtime is the real cost saving benefit of upgrading to High Speed Data. High Speed Data is also an attractive alternative to upgrading a vessel to the Fleet F77 service. What is KlasHopper HSD? KlasHopper HSD is the easiest way to send High Speed Data over an Inmarsat B. It is a PC card that easily installs in a laptop or desktop PC. KlasHopper HSD supports all popular Windows operating systems including Windows 95/98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Despite the expense of HSD the dramatic reduction of total airtime will result in a far reduced monthly Inmarsat bill. Works with maritime email systems KlasHopper HSD has been designed with the maritime email user in mind. It has been tested with specialized email solutions used in the maritime market. KlasHopper HSD PCI can accept AT commands just like a regular modem and should easily replace the MSD modem found in most maritime solutions. This has made KlasHopper the recommended HSD solution for several major maritime email providers.
Compatible with Microsoft Outlook KlasHopper works with Microsoft Outlook for sending email over satellite. This means that Inmarsat B users are now able to send emails with a package that they are very familiar with. Many users are surprised at how easy it is to send and receive large emails over an Inmarsat B connection.
Tested with all Maritime Inmarsat B terminals KlasHopper HSD come in synchronous mode and has been tested with all Inmarsat B terminals: Nera Saturn B, Furuno Felcom, JRC JUE and Skanti Inmarsat B. KlasHopper HSD comes with all necessary cables needed for your installation. This includes options for ordering cable extensions up to several hundred meters long.
Communication for an entire onboard network KlasHopper can be installed in a Windows server. This allows all users onboard share email and internet access. Not Needed At Both Ends KlasHopper HSD is not required at both ends of the connection and can communicate with any ISDN or Inmarsat B installations. It can connect to any remote device including routers and popular ISDN Terminal Adapters that support PPP. Therefore, the user can connect to an Inmarsat B or ISDN server that may not be using KlasHopper.
