KM REC FOOTBALL RULES

gues and Play: Lightening League K-‐2nd (7x7, No Rush), Thunder League 3-‐5th (7x7, Designated Rushers)
mes: The games will be divided into two (2) 25-‐minute halves. There will be a Kick-‐Off to start each half and a five-‐minute break betw s. Each team will receive two (2) one (1) minute time outs per half.
ying Field Dimensions: 40 yards wide x 60 yards long + (2) 10-‐yard end zones. The field will be divided into six (6) 10-‐yard zones.
me Clock Start/Stop: The game clock will start on the first snap of the ball from the 10-‐yard line after the kick-‐off of each half. (Kick-‐O ot included in clock time.) There will be a continuous clock except for the last minute of the second half. The clock will stop on the wh official if: a time out is called; a player goes out of bounds, a dropped pass, change of possession or penalty. The offensive team will conds from that point to snap the ball for the next play. If the offensive team fails to snap the ball before the 35 seconds is up, there -‐yard penalty for delay of game. The referee will notify both coaches when it is the last play of the first half.
TING THE GAME, POSSESSION & SPORTSMANSHIP

“THUNDER LEAGUE” Kick -‐Off will be from the 20-‐yard line. The “LIGHTENING LEAGUE “ Kick –Off will be from the 30-‐yard line.

On the rush, the Defensive Tackle must fully engage the Offensive Tackle prior to rushing the Quarterback. No stunting, blitz ing gaps by the defense. NO BULL RUSHING WILL BE TOLERATED!!!!!!!
the LIGHTENING LEAGUE there will be no defensive rush. In both Leagues the Quarterback may run the ball once per four downs. O all is handed off or tossed, the no rush rule is no longer in effect and all defenders may attack the line of scrimmage. The defense ma there is an exchange from the QB to another player or the QB rolls out past the Offensive Guards (outside of the pocket).

7x7 League Play, Defensive Tackles must line up (head up) directly across from the Offensive Tackles.
oaches may not take longer than 35 seconds from when the play is over to line up on offense for the next play. Faster is better. Pract arning plays. Players need to understand what they are doing and why.
TIME RULES

No offensive flag guarding: 5 yards from spot of foul. This includes tying of flags, intentionally stiff-‐arming, pushing away of defend lowering of shoulders, etc. Flags must be accessible at all times to the defender. he defense jumps offside before the snap, the play should be blown dead and it is a 5 yard “ENCROACHMENT” penalty with no loss o .
icials will call what they see, but also will try to keep the game moving (i.e. by not calling a penalty on every play) and help the kids t stand the rules and what penalties they are called for, especially early in the season.
M SPORTSMANSHIP
team obtains an 18-‐point lead, the coach that is ahead is required to rotate players. Players who display the greatest developmenta will be placed in key positions, i.e. quarterbacks, running backs and receivers. The head official will communicate with the coach to ish these changes.
TICE RULES
ms are allowed to practice twice per week throughout the season. It is the coach’s responsibility to communicate this with their tea rs and parents.
