Bid Specification Statements. The scanner shall provide an Integrated book edge Flatbed for exception document handling. The flat-bed shall have a Self-Height Adjusting cover to keep all thicknesses of documents and books flat on scanning platen. Kodak i3000 Series scanners Robust Document Transport The primary purpose of a scanner is to transport many different document types into the scanner over the imaging cameras. The true test of a scanner is how reliable it performs this function, day in and day out. When you open the i3000 series scanners, it will inspire confidence that no matter what type of documents you have or how often you use the scanner, your business will benefit from the reliability Kodak Alaris is known for. High-quality images begin with how well documents are presented to the imaging camera. Kodak scanners, such as the i3000s, have over 75 years of engineering experience built into them. The paper transport is the imaging environment, and the i3000s is designed to:  Keep documents flat  Keep documents moving at a consistent speed  Optimize the light source for the transport and camera  Provide cameras with replaceable imaging guides The front transport roller* in any transport takes the documents from the feeder and introduces them into the transport. Therefore this roller wears sooner than the others. The i3000s are designed so that the FRONT transport roller is customer replaceable. Bid Specification Statements. The document feeder and transport reliably accommodates 34-413 g/m2 (9-110 lb.) paper. * See the Consumables section for an overview of replacing this roller assembly. 14 Kodak i3000 Series Scanners 250-sheet Feeder/Elevator With the ability to handle a 250-sheet size batch, the i3000s deliver the capability to be the most productive scanners in their class. The elevator design allows users to boost productivity and efficiency by easily scanning batches of mixed-size documents, and have them neatly stacked—in order—in the output tray. Productivity As compared to other scanners at this price point, for a 250-sheet size batch, the i3000s requires less stoppage time to reload the feeder. Example : Feeder reloads per 1000 pages scanned i3000s: 4 Avg. of others: 9 The i3000s feeder elevator can also be programmed at various default heights to match your typical document batch size. This also saves time when loading the feeder with smaller batch sizes. Elevator settings the feeder will always return to: Manual - Always up – single sheets 100 sheets 250 sheets Auto – If there is not paper present in the FEEDER it will scan from the FLAT BED Reliability Kodak feeders are known for reliability and durability, and as capable of feeding the widest latitude of paper types. The feeder and separator rollers can be replaced individually or as modules. A consumable kit is available; it supports consumables being replaced at intervals to ensure peak performance of the i3000s. See the consumable section of this publication for details. Ease of use The i3000s Feeder and Separator roller assemblies are designed for easy replacement to help ensure replacement at the appropriate usage intervals and ensure maximum reliability. Easy to remove and replace Separator Roller Easy to remove and replace Feeder Module Bid Specification Statements. The scanner shall have a document feeder elevator mechanism with a capacity of 250 Sheets (80 g/m2) with selfcentring side guides. The time it shall take an operator to replace the FEEDER and SEPARATOR modules should be less than 5 minutes and without the use of special tools. Kodak i3000 Series scanners Consistent Throughput Speeds at All B/W Scan Resolutions If up to 90ppm (A3, landscape) isn’t impressive enough; the i3000s maintain rated speed in black and white at both 200 and 300dpi* -The i3400/i3450 will scan up to 80ppm for all color resolutions. even with many Perfect Page features turned on!! Image Compression and USB 3.0 Compatibility As documents are being scanned, the i3000s compress images before transferring them to the user’s PC. Because of this, the i3000s rely less on the user’s PC and, unlike other scanners, can be used with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 PCs. Even though USB 3.0 enables other types of USB devices to run faster, because the i3000s are doing much of the imaging, there would not be a noticeable difference in performance when used with either a USB 2.0 or 3.0 PC The Kodak i3000s come with a USB 3.0 cable to accommodate both USB 2.0 and 3.0 PCs. * When using recommended PC specifications Bid Specification Statements. Throughput speeds of A3 documents in LANDSCAPE shall be maintained with required image processing enabled at both 200 and 300dpi when outputting BW/Greyscale images The scanner shall be compatible with USB 3.0 PCs Interoperability with all TWAIN, ISIS and Linux-based scanning applications. Easy integration makes the Kodak i3000s your scanner of choice for adding increased productivity and ease of use with scanning and document management software applications. Most scanners provide basic or rudimentary imaging functions as documents are being scanned. To get more advanced features and functionality, expensive imaging tool kits or additional software have to be purchased. Above and beyond what you can find with any other scanner, Kodak’s driver-embedded advanced imaging capabilities are optimized specifically for the i3000s, providing you the most versatile set of page, content and file management imaging tools delivering consistent “picture perfect” output quality. The i3000s can perform up to 36 imaging functions as documents are being scanned, making the i3000s a highly advanced imaging device that brings much value and extended functionality to many applications. Custom Scanner profiles Different document types, applications or job setups may require different image, page or document handling settings. Documents could be at risk of being damaged, rendering them no longer usable or able to be rescanned. Intelligent Document Protection is a new feature and is an extension of the Multifeed Ultrasonic Sensor technology, which is designed to detect when two or more documents are being fed into the scanner. Obstructions scanners Intelligent Document Protection goes another step further. As documents are being fed into the scanner, this feature “listens” to the sound of paper going through the transport. If it hears/detects potential document damage, IDP stops the scanning process to allow appropriate action to be taken. Maximum protection is realized when BOTH Multifeed Ultrasonic and Document protection are used together. Of course, nothing is 100% when it comes to detecting document anomalies. - The expectation should be that: Document Protection is NOT “staple detection,” it is “damage” detection. - Without Multifeed Ultrasonic or Document Protection ON, documents may be ripped and torn. - Document Protection may not catch everything but does raise the level of protection - With Document Protection ON, after the scanner stops, a rip or tear may be noticed, however, the document was protected from being completely destroyed if it had continued through the scanning process. - Testing should be done to determine the best sensitivity level to set both Multifeed Ultrasonic and Document Protection based on documents and scanning environment.
