Kodak Windows 7 PC Exporting/Editing Guide (Windows Live MovieMaker) Note: This guide is only for PC computers running Windows 7 or newer (which is also on all campus lab computers). If you are using Windows Vista or XP please see the “Kodak Old PC Guide”. If you are using an Apple please see the Kodak Camcorder Apple Guide (which uses iMovie). 1. Gently pull the rubber tab away from the left side of the camcorder. 2. Push the yellow tab to release the USB arm. 3. Connect the provided USB extender cord from the camcorder to your computer’s USB port. • NOTE: Do not connect the camcorder directly to the computer (to prevent the weight of the camcorder from hanging on its USB arm). 4. Push the power button on the camcorder. 5. Open your Computer and find the Kodak drive on your drive list. It will be listed as a new “Removable Disk” 6. Open the drive, then open the “DCIM” folder, then open the “100TOUCH” folder. All of your video files will be in this folder. 7. Drag and drop the video files you want to edit to your desktop. Once you have copied the videos you want to work with to your desktop you can disconnect the camcorder. 8. To edit a video clip once it is on your desktop: Right click on the video and choose “open with” and select “Windows Live Movie Maker”. • Note: All campus lab PCs have this program installed. If your home Windows 7 computer or laptop does not, you may download it free here: http://windows.microsoft.com/enUS/windows7/products/features/movie-maker 9. To set the start and end points for your movie click the “Edit” tab (located at the top right side of the ribbon). Play your video clip to the point that you want your movie to start and click “set start point”. Then find the point on your clip that you want to have your video end and click “set end point”. 10. To save your movie after setting the start and end point, click the “File” button (on the far left of the ribbon) and hover your mouse over “Save Movie” this will bring up a sub menu on which you should click “For email” (this is the best format to make the videos small enough to burn to CD). 11. Name your video with your PACT ID and the number of the clip it will be and choose a location to save you can find (such as the desktop) then click save. 12. You have now created a new video clip. Burn it to a CD as a file or put it on a flash drive. • Note: The original file that was copied from the camcorder is still on the desktop unchanged. You may go back and open this in Movie Maker again if you want to make a different movie or made a mistake setting your start and end points on your first attempt. 13. If you are working from a campus computer make sure to delete all video files off of the computer before leaving the work station. 14. Before you return the camcorder make sure to delete all videos off of the camcorder so that it is empty for the next student to use. Contact Roy Dunlap at [email protected] with questions.
