Installation KP keypads are connected to cards in one of two ways, depending on the features of the card. For CPU and expansion cards that have a keypad port, simply connect the KP keypad cable into the keypad port. Refer to your card’s hardware manual to determine if the card has a keypad port and where it is located.
Octagon Systems Corporation general policy does not recommend the use of its products in life support applications where the failure or malfunction of a component may directly threaten life or injury. It is a Condition of Sale that the user of Octagon products in life support applications assumes all the risk of such use and indemnifies Octagon against all damages.
For cards that do not have a keypad port, KP keypads will connect to any 26–pin, digital I/O port via a LCD– or DP–IFB adapter. Refer to Figure A for a pictorial explanation of how to connect KP keypads to the IFB adapter and digital I/O ports.
Operation KP keypads are scanned by software. Octagon Systems supplies keypad scanning routines in C, QuickBasic, and Cambasic.
