Safety Advice
• Your hearing may be harmed permanently by listening to the player at high volumes for prolonged periods. It is advisable that before putting on the headphones you place them around your neck and turn the volume down. You can then put the headphones on and slowly increase the volume until you find a comfortable listening level. If you experience discomfort at any time, stop using the player immediately. • Do not allow the player to come into contact with, or become immersed in, water or other liquids. The player exterior has not been waterproofed. If the player comes into contact with water or salt air, wipe it dry with a soft, absorbent cloth. • Do not store the player in dusty or humid areas. Storage in these areas could lead to damage. • Avoid using, placing or storing the player in places where it can be exposed to strong light or high temperatures, such as the dashboard or boot (trunk) of a vehicle. Exposure to intense sunlight could cause the battery to leak. • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the player. It may invalidate the warranty. The player contains no user serviceable parts. Please contact an approved warranty repair centre if a repair is required. • Do not drop, bend, open or insert foreign objects in the player. • Do not subject the player to excessive force when inserting or removing the USB lead or Earphones.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
Your Kubik Ray+ at a Glance
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) was transposed into UK law in January 2007 by the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Regulations 2006.
Contents
The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle or recover it. The WEEE Directive also aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment. To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.
One Kubik Ray+ MP3 Player
Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with this symbol) in your bin.

Charging the Player
Important Charging Information
When your player runs out of battery the ‘low battery’ symbol will be displayed and the player will switch itself off.
Charging Icons
It is recommended to set the Backlight Time to ‘5 Seconds’ as this reduces power consumption of the player.
Charging From Your PC Connect the player using the USB cable to a free USB port on your PC. In order for the player to charge from a PC, it should be connected to a high power USB port. The USB ports built in to some keyboards and USB hubs are often not powerful enough. The PC must remain on during the charging process.
When the player is charging it will display the charging icon, once the player has charged the fully charged icon will display:
Charging
Fully Charged
USB Connected
The charging icons shown opposite will not display when the player is connected to the PC. Instead, the USB connected icon will display but the player will still charge normally.
Getting Started
Charging From The Mains (AC Adapter available separately) Connect the USB cable into the AC mains adapter and plug it into a socket. Charging the player for 1-2 hours using the mains charger is sufficient to fully charge the player. It is not recommended to leave the player charging for long periods of time e.g. overnight. The ‘charging’ and ‘fully charged’ icons (shown on next page) will display to indicate the charging status.
Fully Charge
1-2 hrs
Preparation For First Use Charge the player fully for four hours before first use. For subsequent charges, charge the player for 1-2 hours until full. Please see ‘Charging The Player’ section for instructions on how to charge the player. How to turn the Player On/Off Press and hold the power button to turn the player ON. Press and hold the same button to turn the player OFF.
Zap Charging When there is not enough time to charge the player fully, it is possible to charge the player for a short burst and still receive good playback performance. The player has been designed to absorb maximum charge from the first fifteen minutes of charging. However, it is recommended to follow the steps on the next page to enhance the battery life of the player when the player has been ‘Zap’ charged. A 5-minute charge can give over an hour of playback.

Transferring Files To The Player 1 The player is fully Plug & Play - no driver installation is required. 2 Connect the player to a free USB port on your computer using the supplied USB cable. Your desktop quick start menu may display ‘New Hardware Found’. If your player’s battery is flat when you first connect the player using the USB cable your computer may display a message saying that your device is not recognised. If this happens simply disconnect your player from the USB cable and reconnect it.
5 When you have finished transferring files to your player, close all windows that show the contents of your player or that are using any of the files on your player. If the Quick Start menu on your computer desktop displays the icon ‘safely remove hardware’, left click and choose to eject the relevant drive referring to your media player, and once successful, disconnect the USB cable. If this icon is not shown, please ensure all programs using the player are closed before disconnecting the USB cable. Do not disconnect the USB from either the computer or the player whilst files are being transferred (or synchronisation is still taking place if using Windows Media Player). This may result in the files becoming corrupt or unusable.
Important Notes 3 On your computer, the player will be displayed with the name Kubik Ray+. The micro SD card appears as a Removable Disk.
1 In order to keep your files organised you should keep them in separate folders on your player. Files can simply be dragged and dropped to the appropriate folder (or use the copy and paste function).
2 For music uploaded with ID3 tags, 4 Double Click the Kubik Ray+ drive to open the storage drive of the player. The simplest method of adding content to your player is to drag and drop files from your computer directly to the player’s drive. Not all operating systems will display the unique Kubik Ray icon.
the player will organise the music according to Artist, Album, Genre etc. Uploaded music should be in a compatible format: MP3. This player is not a DRM (Digital Rights Media) enabled player; it will not play protected content. Playing protected music will cause it to display ‘Format Error’. We recommend Windows Media Player to convert your CD collection straight to MP3 format including ID tags.
