Kubota Mini Excavator KX101-3 In the 21st century world interest has started to change. People tend to be more concerned about environmental issues and prefer something more economical, comfortable and functional. It is the same in the construction industry market. Since the production of Kubota’s first mini excavator in 1974, we have researched and developed mini excavators that will satisfy the operator’s demand, cooperating with the changing times. KX-3 series has been designed based on three main concepts, upgrade of basic performance, operator comfort, and environmentally friendly. KX-3 series, Kubota’s most evolved mini excavator has appeared for the 21st century. 1 By reading this leaflet, you will become aware exactly how it meets todays needs and how it will satisfy your demands. With reinforced performance and stability, KX101-3 provide you with higher productivity and efficient operation Straight Travel The new Hydraulic Matching System (New HMS) ensures straight travel even with simultaneous operation of any other circuit for safer loading / off loading and easier de-bogging. Enhanced Digging Force Well balanced arm and bucket digging power provides the operator with efficient digging power. In addition, by setting the maximum operating pressure at 24.5 Mpa, each digging force has been enhanced by 22.3% compared to previous models to speed up operation even in hard digging conditions. Four Simultaneous Operations Variable displacement hydraulic pumps, with specifications set to use the engine power at optimum levels, ensure high performance digging and dozing at all times. The combination of a two element variable pump and gear pump enable bucket, boom, arm, and swing simultaneous operation. The efficiency can be seen in operations like loading trucks ROPS/FOPS (Level 1) Cabin and Canopy The cabin and canopy offer maximum safety to operators with its Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) and Falling Object Protection Structure (FOPS) More Driving Force A stronger driving force of the travel motor and improved turnability enables smooth dozer backfilling and leveling operation. Control Levers Adequate lever stroke and ergonomically-designed wrist rests provide greater control ability, smoother operation and reduces operator fatigue. Enhanced manoeuvrability with Kubota’s hydraulic turning technology will provide easier and more precise operation Engine Kubota’s unique new E-TVCS (Three Vortex Combustion System) enables high energy output, low vibration and low consumption. In addition it minimises exhaust emissions Among the variety of Kubota engine models which are highly renowned in the compact equipment market, the KX101-3 opted for the most suitable engine for its size in both performance and economy. 2 By making the D1503 reach its full potential, the KX101-3 realises a 5% reduction in fuel consumption, as well as giving higher productivity at the same time. The ideal choice in both machine running costs and the environment. Engine Inspection The main maintenance points such as the engine and air cleaner can be easily and quickly inspected. In addition to access from the rear engine cover, the engine inspection window is located behind the seat which enables easier access to the other side of the engine such as injection nozzles, etc Control Valve Inspection The control valve is located in the right bonnet next to the cabin/canopy. For inspection of the control valve, the bonnet cover can be opened easily and quickly with the simple flip of a latch. Also when more access for maintenance or repair is necessary, all bonnet covers on the swing frame can be easily removed with standard tools Protected Bucket Cylinder Hoses The Bucket Cylinder Hoses are routed within the arm to protect them from damage. This ensures a longer service life and lower repair costs. In addition the operator visibility is improved. Boom Cylinder Protector The flat steel plate Boom Cylinder Protector has been improved to a V-shaped thick steel plate boom cylinder protector. It protects the cylinder from being damaged by the breaker or other attachments, rocks, or when loading on to a truck Travelling Lock System Whenever the pilot control safety lever is not engaged, the travel levers are locked mechanically to prevent unexpected machine movement especially when the operator enters or exits the cabin Slew Negative Brake With Slew Negative Brake, the slew function is locked automatically whenever the engine is stopped or the pilot control safety lever is raised. This features eliminates the need for a slew transport lock pin. Two Piece Design Hoses The boom and dozer cylinder hoses of the KX-3 series are of 2 piece design giving 60% reduction in hose replacement time and eliminating the need to access inside the machine Boom Anti-Fall Unit The Boom Anti-Fall Unit located in the control valve minimises gravity fall of the boom 3 KX101-3 Standard Equipment Engine / Fuel system • Double element air cleaner • Electric fuel pump Cabin • ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure, ISO 3471) • FOPS (Falling Objects Protective Structure) level 1 • Weight adjustable full suspension seat • Seatbelt • Hydraulic pilot control levers with wrist rests • Travel levers with foot pedals • Cabin heater for defrosting and demisting • Emergency exit hammer • Front window power assisted with 2 gas dumpers • 12V power source for radio/stereo • Location for 2 speakers and radio antenna Undercarriage • 300mm rubber track • 1 x upper track roller • 4 x outer flange type lower track roller • 2 speed travel with foot pedal • Bracket for anti-theft locking device Canopy • ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure, ISO 3471) • FOPS (Falling Objects Protective Structure) level 1 • Weight adjustable full suspension seat • Seatbelt • Hydraulic pilot control levers with wrist rests • Travel levers with foot pedals Hydraulic System • Pressure accumulator • Hydraulic pressure checking ports • Straight travel circuit Safety System • Engine start safety system on the left console • Travel lock system on the left console • Swivel lock system • Boom anti-fall circuit in the control valve Working Equipment • 1350mm arm • Auxiliary hydraulic circuit piping to the arm end • 2 working lights on cabin and 1 light on boom 4 Optional Equipment Engine / Fuel system • Automatic Idling System (AI system) When high engine rpm is unnecessary, the Automatic Idling (AI) system reduces the engine rpm automatically to its idling rpm for the purpose of energy saving and reduction of noise and unnecessary exhaust emission. If the control levers are left in neutral for more than 4 seconds engine rpm is automatically reduced to idling rpm. When the levers are moved again then engine rpm is reset promptly to the dial-set rpm. This reduces fuel consumption, improving economy, reducing running costs, and saves energy. In addition noise pollution is reduced.
