MECHANICAL KEYBOARD Top Case Replacement How-to Before you begin Replacing your ES-87 top case requires only a few minutes and the following tools: 1. A medium “plus” screwdriver. 2. A small coin or dull butter knife. WARNING: Replacing the Top Case of your ES-87 should be done with caution. Please read these instructions thoroughly before you begin! THIS WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY. 8 9 2 1 6 3 4 5 7 Step 1 Remove screws at points 1 - 3 . You may remove the “WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED” sticker without voiding your warranty for the purpose replacing your top case. Step 2 Access points 4 - 9 are latching clips, as pictured to the right, that will require a small amount of pressure to unlatch. If your fingernails alone are not strong enough, use a small coin or the tip of a dull butter knife under the pressure of your thumb, as pictured. DO NOT use a sharp object or screwdriver! Step 3 Once all six clips are unlatched, flip the keyboard upright while being careful to hold the top and bottom parts of the keyboard together. Carefully lift the existing top case from the keyboard and replace it with your new top case. Firmly press each of the six latching clips back into place. Return the three screws, and you’re all done! Page 1 keyeduplabs.com ES-87 Top Case Replacement How-To Rev. 1.0 - 2015 Keyed Up Labs
