Here are the words you’ll need to be familiar with: Instant Access to 20,000 Plays Landro play analyzer was created for you, the head football coach, to use to analyze your plays without all the hassles of rewinding and fast-forwarding videotape. Using a simple 4-button remote control, you can dynamically find and present video teaching examples of your own and your opponent’s plays to your team. Analysis Center: found beneath the Preview Window in your Game List, lists all of the saved play search and summary themes you’ve created for it. Breakdown: the screens you use to catalog your plays. As the Head Coach, you’ll want to skim the rest of this introduction and then read just the first two sections of the manual. You’ll learn how to analyze and present video to your team, using the simple 4-button remote control, how to make a highlight tape in minutes, and how to save your play information for printing in a spreadsheet. Once you know how to analyze plays and make highlights, have your Landro Manager read Section 3 and Section 4 of the manual for more information on how to set up your Landro, and how to record, mark and catalog plays. It is also a good idea for you to have everyone who will be using Landro watch the training videos on your play analyzer. Catalog: to use breakdown to classify plays by distance, formation, play, etc. Landro Manager: Person responsible for recording and marking plays in Landro. This can be a player or other student, maybe one involved in video or computer services. Landro managers become so valuable many are awarded letters in addition to the valuable video experience they get marking and cataloging the plays , some have even gotten scholarships! Navigate: Navigate means to push up, down, left, or right on the circle pad on your remote control to get from one screen item to another. You’ll learn how to use the remote control to analyze and present game video to your team. Right Arrow to Play/Pause (same as Trigger on underside of remote). Navigation Button Press Up to jump to next play or Down to jump to previous play, hold Left for reverse, Right for forward (note: when playback is paused, Left and Right are slow motion reverse and forward). First, you’ll become familiar with using the remote control to navigate and view a game. Second, you’ll learn how to play a game and control playback. Third, you will learn how to use the analysis center to analyze a game. Finally, you will learn how to use themes to analyze your games in greater depth. Using Your Remote Control to Navigate Your remote control is used by the Head Coach. Here’s how you navigate the screens. Buttons Press #1 for Screen Tips, #2 to Go To a Play, #3 for Displays, #4 to Replay a Play, Left Arrow to Exit Playback, and 6 Viewing a Game The Game List is the main screen for using Landro. From the Game List, you, the Head Coach, will view your games and access the Analysis Center. You will also be able to easily access the Play Search, Play Summary, and Play List to further analyze your games. Your Landro Manager will use the Game List to set up and record new games and breakdown those games by marking and cataloging each play with your play information. There are a few options for using the Game List. First, you can change which games appear in the Game List by pressing the #2 button on your remote. For example, you might only want to see all of this season’s games, or all games that you’ve categorized as teaching examples. You can also change the order that the games appear in (for example, newest to oldest), by pressing the #4 button on your remote. 7 Using Your Remote Control for Playback Here’s how you control game playback. Buttons Press #1 for Screen Tips, #2 to Go To a Play, #3 for Displays, #4 to Replay a Play, Left Arrow to Exit Playback, and Right Arrow to Play/Pause (same as Trigger on underside of remote). Navigation Button Press Up to jump to next play or Down to jump to previous play, hold Left for reverse, Right for forward (note: when playback is paused, Left and Right are slow motion reverse and forward). 8 Using the Analysis Center The Analysis Center is the fastest and easiest way to do play analysis on the situations you want to analyze most often. Your Landro Manager can create “Themes” from the Play Searches or Summaries that you want to use to analyze game video. A theme might include all 3 rd and Long or 3 rd and Medium plays, or it might include all Offensive Red Zone Plays. Themes were created so that you, the Head Coach, could easily access the plays that you want to analyze from any game or games, all from one easy-touse screen. It’s a good idea to have your Landro Manager set up your themes right after they set up your Playbook with your own formation and play language (or you can learn to do it for yourself in Section 3). Don’t worry, you can always add or delete more searches and summaries to or from the Analysis Center. 9 You can create “Themes” from a Play Search. A Play Search lets you search for plays according to down, distance, formation, play, player, etc. Your Search Themes can be as specific as you want, including only unit, such as all Offensive plays, or down and distance, such as 2nd and long. Your Landro Manager creates and saves your Search Themes using the Search Builder. These Themes can then be saved here to the Play Search “My Searches” screen, or be added to the Analysis Center for easiest access. To get to this screen, in the Game List, Navigate to the game you want to analyze and press the Trigger. Then, Navigate Down to “Play Search” and press the Trigger again (if your screen reads “Search Builder”, press the #3 button on your remote). When finished analyzing the plays from the selected search, press the Left Arrow button on the remote control to return to this screen and select another search theme. 10 In addition to Play Searches, you can also create spreadsheet-style Themes using Play Summary, such as Formation vs. Play (to find which plays are being run most often from certain formations ). Your Landro Manager will use the Summary Builder to create and save your Summary Themes. These Themes can be saved to the Play Summary screen or added to the Analysis Center for easiest access. Navigate Down to “Play Summary” and press the Trigger again (if your screen reads “Summary Builder”, press the #3 To get to this screen, in the Game List, Navigate to the game you want to analyze and press the Trigger.
