This tool will allow users to easily track league events for Magic and D&D, print league standings and more! This guide will cover the basics of how to use the new League Tool. In addition to being a great tool to keep track of your leagues, there are some other cool things you can do with the league tool. For example, if you wanted to know who the top first place finishers in Friday Night Magic (FNM) were for your store for the last six months you could use the tool to figure that out. All you would need to do is add the last six months of FNM events to a league, then view the standings and sort them by “First Place Finishes.” You can also use the league tool to keep track of “Renown” points for D&D Encounters events. Just enter a player’s earned renown into the “League Points” field. These are just a couple of examples of different ways you can use the new League Tool in WER. 1 Using the League Tool With the addition of the League Tool to WER, running and tracking league events has never been easier. Use the instructions below to get started! Create a New League When you create a league, it is saved locally on your machine as part of the “tournamentdata.dat” file. League information is not sent to Wizards. If you need to access your league information on more than one computer, WER allows you to export your league files so you can take them with you and then easily import them on another machine. For more information, see the “Import/Export League Files” section on page 7 of this guide. To create a new league: 1. From the main WER screen, click the “League Tool” button. The “Current Leagues” window opens. This window lists all of the leagues that you have created/imported on your machine. 2 WER – League Tool Guide 2. Click the “New” button. The “Create League” window opens. 3. Type the name of your league in the “League Name” field. The league name will appear in the “Current Leagues” window and the printed standings. 4. Click the “Save” button. A message will appear to let you know your league was successfully saved. Congratulations! You have created a league! Now it’s time to add some events to your league so you can start calculating league standings. 3 Add/Remove Events From a League Once a league has been created you can add events to it. You can only add completed events to the list. To add events to a league: 1. Click the “League Tool” button to open the “Current Leagues” window. 2. Double click the name of the league that you want to add events to. This opens the “Update League” window. 3. Select a game from the “Game” drop-down. This selection determines the choices that will show in the “Format” drop-down. 4. Select a format from the “Format” drop-down. A list of events matching the game and format that you selected will appear. 5. Click the “Add” button next to the event that you wish to add. Once an event has been added it will appear in the lower portion of the “Update League” window. 6. Click the “Save” button to save your changes. 4 WER – League Tool Guide To remove events from a league: 1. Click the “League Tool” button to open the “Current Leagues” window. 2. Double click the name of the league that you want to remove events from. This opens the “Update League” window. 3. Click the “Remove” button next to the event in the lower half of the “Update League” window you wish to remove. 4. Click the “Save” button to save your changes. Note: If you add or remove events in the “Update League” window and then close the window or click “Cancel” without saving, your changes will not be saved. You must click the “Save” button in order to save your changes. View League Standings So we have created our league and added a few events. Now we can view our league standings. To view league standings: 1. Click the “League Tool” button to open the “Current Leagues” window. 2. Double click the name of the league that you want to view the standings for. This opens the “Update League” window. 3. Click the “Standings” button. 5 The “League Standings” window opens. The league standings window contains five columns of information: • Name - Name of the player • Match Points - Displays the total number of all match points a person received for all events in the league. • League Points – Displays the total number of league points a person received for all events in the league. • League Total - Displays the sum of the “Match Points” and “League Points” for a person. • First Place Finishes – Displays the total number of first place finishes a person has for all events in the league. The standings can be reordered, by clicking any of the column headers. To print the standings click the “Print” button and select the option that best suits how you wish to print the standings. 6 WER – League Tool Guide Export/ Import League Files Because league information is only stored locally on your machine the only way you can access your league information on another computer is exporting your league data from your machine and then importing it on another. To export your league file: 1. Click the “League Tool” button to open the “Current Leagues” window. 2. Double click the name of the league that you want to export. This opens the “Update League” window. 3. Click the “Export” button. The “Save As” window opens. The “File name:” field will be pre-filled with the name of the league. 4. Select the location where you wish to export the file to. 5. Click the “Save” button 7 League Points League Points can be used for a variety of different purposes. The most common use of league points is to provide a means of quickly tracking the outcome of “Player List Only” league events. League points are separate from and do not affect a players Planeswalker Points in any way. You can award League Points to a player via the “Players” tab in an event. Add League Points To add League Points to a player: 1. From the main screen, open any event that has not been reported yet. Note: If the event has ended, you will need to re-open it before you can add league points. 2. From the “Event Window” click the “Players” tab. When the “Players” tab opens, notice there is a new field towards the top named “League Points” 3. Select the player’s name that you wish add League Points to from the “Event Players” list on the right. 4. Type the number of League Points you wish to award to the player in the “League Points” field and click the “Add Points” button. Once you have added points to a person the next player in the list is selected, allowing you to quickly add points to all players in the event. 8 WER – League Tool Guide Wizards of the Coast will not collect any information about league points when an event is uploaded into our system. View / Edit League Points To view/edit a player’s League Points: 1. From the main screen, open any event that you wish to view the League Points of. Note: If the event has ended, you will need to re-open it before you can change league points. 2. From the “Event Window” click the “Players” tab. 3. Select a player’s name. The number of League Points they have will be displayed in the “League Points” field. 4. To edit the points, just type the new number of League Points you wish to award to the player in the “League Points” field and click the “Add Points” button. 9
