Introduction Purchase
Congratulations on the purchase of a Leica CS25. Read and follow the User Manual on the accompanying DVD before using the product. • This Quick Start Guide contains first use directions as well as initial, basic instructions for setting up the product and operating it. • Keep all documentation for future reference!

Protect the product against shock and vibration. Periodically carry out functional tests particularly after the product has been dropped, stored for long periods or transported.
The product must not be disposed with household waste.
The battery must be charged before using it for the first time. The following advice is only valid for batteries, power adapter or docking station. WARNING
The product is not designed for use under wet and severe conditions. If unit becomes wet it may cause you to receive an electric shock. Precautions: Use the product only in dry environments, for example in buildings or vehicles. Protect the product against humidity. If the product becomes humid, it must not be used!

The tablet computer has a USB port fitted as standard. The tablet computer has an internal memory fitted as standard. Available capacity: 64 GB.
The delivered Leica Geosystems USB flash drive contains system software and is not certified for permanent data transfer i.e. as data storage for measurement data. Use only certified industrial grade USB flash drives such as the Leica MS1 (order number 765199).

Step
Description Ensure that the Helix antenna connector and the linkage on the backside of the CS25 is free of dust and grease.
1.
Turn over the CS25 tablet computer to the underside.
2.
Hold the Helix antenna at the end of the antenna connector.
3.
Insert the antenna connector into the female connector on the CS25 until it clicks into place.

2 Start up step-by-step
Operation 1.

Write down the Microsoft Windows license Product Key: XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. Located under the (L) left battery (bottom sight). You will need it when using the unit for the first time.
You will be forced to activate your Windows License Product Key during the installation process. This requires Internet connection. Insert an Ethernet cable or choose to activate your license by using the toll-free automatic phone activation (If you are unable to do either, choose to activate later and refer to the CS25 User Manual.)

Install and lock the batteries. Attach the charger to start charging.
Wait until the device is fully charged before using it for the first time. The initial charging takes approximately 4 hours. 2 3

Choose a username & unit name, using the on-screen keyboard.

If required, choose your password.

Enter your Windows License Product Key, as noted in step 2.

Read and accept the license terms.

Choose your settings for updates, date and time.

Choose your settings for Windows Update.

How to activate Windows (It is possible to activate Windows now or later.) Via Ethernet: • Requires an Internet connection • Connect Ethernet cable for access to local network and Internet • Choose to activate Windows now and online Via Wi-Fi/WLAN: • Requires an Internet connection • Connect via Wi-Fi/WLAN to a local network and/or Internet • Choose to activate Windows online now Windows should automatically connect to internet and activate. It is also possible to activate Windows via toll-free automatic phone activation.

CS25/CS25 LRBT/CS25 GNSS Windows Activation Guide 1) Make sure you have your Windows License Product Key code available. This will be needed when activating your license. 2) Establish a connection by connecting your unit using Wi-Fi or by connecting an Ethernet cable. 3) Once you have established a connection, click on the Start/Windows button. 4) Control Panel 5) System and Security 6) System 7) Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the text: You must activate today, activate Windows now.

1) Click on Activate Windows online now. 2) When it is finished you can close the window. If you are not able to establish an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection you can choose See other ways to activate. Choose Use the automated phone system and follow the instructions. 17.
After installing the System software please insert the Leica USB-Stick with the application Software and follow the instructions.

Inserting and Removing a SIM Card

Keep the card dry. Use it only within the specified temperature range. Do not bend the card. Protect the card from direct impacts.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in data loss and/or permanent damage to the card. CAUTION
CS25, Operation
Always ground yourself to remove any static charge before touching the CPU card. The electronic devices are sensitive to static electricity. Precautions: 1) Only experienced personnel should open the mechanical housing of the tablet computer. 2) Use a grounding wrist strap all the time. 3) Place all the electronic components in a static-dissipative surface or staticshielded bag when they are not in the chassis.

Apply general practice for working with static-sensitive devices when you open the CS25 tablet computer, insert the SIM card and closing the CS25 tablet computer: • Discharge any static charge before opening the CS25 tablet computer and working with the SIM card • CS25 tablet computer must not be subject to high electrostatic potentials when it is open • Minimise contact with internal components of the CS25 tablet computer • Avoid any discharges of static electricity near the CS25 tablet computer when inserting the SIM card

Insert and remove a SIM card step-by-step

Step
The SIM card is inserted into a SIM card holder inside the CS25 tablet computer. For CS25 LRBT: Remove the Long Range Bluetooth module labelled 'bluegiga' before inserting the SIM card.
1.
Turn off the CS25 tablet computer. Refer to " Keys".

Turn over the CS25 tablet computer to the underside.
3.
Loosen the screws inside the cover using the screwdriver end of the stylus.
4.
Detach the cover from the CS25 tablet computer.

Description
For CS25 GNSS: Detach the cover carefully to not damage the cables of the Helix antenna.
Slide the SIM card firmly into the slot.
Do not force the card into the slot. The card should be held with the contacts facing the slot.
Close the SIM card holder and push into locked position.

Attach the slot cover and tighten the screws.

To remove the card, detach the slot cover of the CS25 tablet computer.

Open the SIM card holder and remove the SIM card. 23
