Letter Bump To Prepare: • • • • •
Decide which game board would work best for your players. Page 2 of download is for 1 die (numbers 1-6) and pg. 3 is for 2 dice (addition 2-12). Print off one game board for two players to share. Laminate the game board or place in a plastic sleeve protector. Level 1: Each player needs a set of letter tiles (a different color for each player). Level 2: Each player selects a different colored dry erase marker. Each player also needs a Letter List with 12 different letters written on the list (one letter in each box of the table). Letters chosen can be specific for each player.
To Play: • • • • • •
Players take turns rolling the dice (die). Players either look at the number on the die (for game board 1) or add the numbers on the dice (for game boards 2). Players then place a letter tile (Level 1) or write a letter from their list (Level 2) on the game board corresponding with the number they rolled. If the other player already has a letter on the number rolled, you can “bump” his letter by picking up his letter tile and handing it back to him or erasing it and writing your letter in that space instead. If a player rolls a number that already has his letter in that numbered space, the player’s turn is over and the other player takes his turn. When all the spaces have letters, the player with the most words on the game board wins!

Print off a copy of letters onto colored cardstock (a different color is needed for each player). Pick about 12 letter tiles for each player. Instead of asking the child to write her letters, the young child simply places her letter tile on the game board. You can challenge her to say the letter name or letter sound.

Print off one game board for two players to share. Laminate the game board or place in a plastic sleeve protector. Each player selects a different colored dry erase marker. Players take turns rolling the dice (die). Players either look at the number on the die (for game board 1) or add the numbers on the dice (for game boards 2 and 3). Players then write a word from their spelling list on the game board corresponding with the number they rolled. If the other player already has a word written on the number rolled, you can “bump” his word by erasing it and writing your word in that space instead. If a player rolls a number that already has his word in that numbered space, the player’s turn is over and the other player takes his turn. When all the spaces have words written in, the player with the most words on the game board wins!
