DIGITAL TV – By 2012, all areas of the UK will receive TV in digital, as opposed to analogue. Digital TV provides better picture quality and a greater choice of TV and radio channels. It also offers new features such as on-screen programme guides, interactivity, audio description and subtitling for people with visual and audio impairments The map below shows the dates the switchover will take place across different regions
HD – High-definition television, or HDTV, is a new standard of TV with better-quality picture and sound than what you're used to. HDTV brings you closer to the action, offering more colours and a higher resolution picture similar to what you'd see at a cinema. This can make HDTV images clearer, sharper, more detailed and very life-like.
