PURE NETWORKING 10/100/1000-MBPS PCI ADAPTER
2. Overview The Pure Networking 10/100/1000-Mbps PCI Bus Network Adapter connects an IBM compatible PC to an Ethernet network. (It fits in a PCI slot of your computer.) The adapter complies with the 32-bit PCI specification and supports half-/full-duplex operation, which can double network speed. The adapter supports 1000 Mbps (Gigabit), 100 Mbps, and 10 Mbps network speeds. 1000BASE-T operates on all four pairs of Category 5 UTP cable. 100BASE-TX operates on two pairs of the CAT5 cable, and 10BASE-T operates on two pairs of Category 3, 4, or 5 UTP cable. With autonegotiation technology, network speed is autodetected. When you connect the adapter to a Gigabit switch or to another Gigabit NIC, full Gigabit speed will be attained. If you connect the adapter to a 100BASE-TX hub, the network speed is 100 Mbps. If the hub is a switching hub that supports full-duplex function, then the speed will be doubled to 200 Mbps. A variety of drivers are supplied with the adapter, including Microsoft® Windows 98, 98 SE, Me, XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT, NetWare Server 4.x/5.x/6.x, NetWare ODI for DOS, Linux, and UNIX. 10
CHAPTER 2: Overview
The adapter supports 32-bit operation. It complies with the 66-/33-MHz PCI Local Bus Master Version 2.2 and the IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, and IEEE 802.3x standards. The adapter features IEEE 802.3x full-duplex flow control and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging. It also offers Wake On LAN power management and Jumbo Frame, as well as plug-and-play installation, auto-setup IRQ, and I/O address. The adapter autonegotiates for full- or half-duplex operation.

CHAPTER 4: Troubleshooting
4. Troubleshooting 4.1 Indicators If you experience any problems with the adapter, please make sure the appropriate driver is loaded, the proper cable is connected to the adapter port, and the hub/switch complies with the adapter specification (such as 10-Mbps 10BASE-T, 100-Mbps 100BASE-TX, and 1000-Mbps 1000BASE-T), then check the LEDs. The Speed LED indicates that the adapter is connected to a 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, or 1000BASE-T network. When the LED is off, the adapter is connected to a 10BASE-T network. When the light is amber, the adapter is connected to a 100BASE-TX network. When the LED is green, the adapter is connected to a 1000BASE-T network. The Link/Activity LED, when off, indicates that the UTP port has not been connected or the link is not OK. When the LED is on, the UTP port link is OK. When the LED is blinking, there is traffic flow on the network that the adapter is connected to.
