LIEBERT ACCUGUIDE® INTERCONNECT ASSEMBLY
GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SURGE SUPPRESSION APPLICATION
1.0 GENERAL 1.1
Summary These specifications describe the electrical and mechanical requirements for a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) interconnect assembly. The specified system shall be suitable for application within a surgeprotective system, enhancing TVSS performance by minimizing system voltage drop.
1.2
Standards The specified interconnect assembly shall be designed, manufactured, tested and installed in compliance with the following codes and standards: • American National Standards Institute and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (ANSI/IEEE C62.11, C62.41, C62.45) • Federal Information Processing Standards Publication 94 (FIPS PUB 94) • National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA LS-1 1992) • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 20, 70, 75 and 780) • National Electrical Code • Underwriters Laboratories • International Standards Organization (ISO) Company certified ISO 9001 for manufacturing, design and service The interconnect assembly shall be comprised of UL recognized components.
1.3
Assembly System Description The interconnect assembly shall include one coaxial cable for each protected mode provided by the TVSS. For each phase, two conductors must be provided. The center conductor of each cable shall be connected to the phase and the second conductor shall be connected either to ground or to neutral as required. The cable assembly must then transition to a shielded conductor to facilitate installation.
1.4
Electrical Requirements (selection required) The cable shall be UL rated at 600 volts, suitable for all low-voltage AC power applications. Application of cable assembly shall be for: (selection required) System wiring configuration (Single Phase, 2 wire and ground), (Single Phase, 3 wire and ground), (Three Phase, 3 wire and ground), (Three Phase, 4 wire and ground) Conductor gauge (#10), (#8), (#6) Foot cable assembly length (not to include pigtail or twin shielded conductors for installation of assembly) (5), (8), (10), (12), (15), (20)
1.5
Performance Ratings Voltage Drop Performance—The interconnect assembly must demonstrate a voltage loss of less than 12.6 V/ft for an ANSI/IEEE C62.41 B3 6,000 volts, 3,000 amps, 1.2 x 50 ms, 8 x 20 ms combination wave.
1.6
Submittals Documentation—These specifications are based on the Liebert AccuGuide TVSS Interconnect Assembly. All other manufacturers shall submit for 10 day pre-approval and provide detailed compliance or exception statements to all provisions of this specification to allow consideration. Additionally, manufacturers shall submit independent test data verifying voltage drop/ft/kA performance (based on the mentioned waveform/impulse). Failure to do so will result in product disapproval.
Equipment Manual The manufacturer shall furnish an installation and operating instructions for the specified interconnect assembly.
1.7
Quality Assurance The manufacturer shall be ISO 9001 certified. The specified interconnect assembly shall be designed and manufactured in the USA by a qualified manufacturer of TVSS products and line conditioning equipment. The manufacturer shall have been engaged in the design and manufacturer of such products for a minimum of 10 years.
1.8
Warranty The manufacturer shall provide a full five-year warranty from the date of shipment against any interconnect assembly failure when installed in compliance with the manufacturer’s written instruction and any applicable national, state or local electrical codes.
