SPECIFICATIONS WARNING! Exceeding the weight capacity voids your Pride Lift Chair warranty and may result in personal injury and damage to your lift chair. WARNING! Prevent the risk of electrical shock, fire, falls and/or being pinched. Follow all instructions provided. Failure to heed could result in personal injury and/or damage to the lift chair.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS Your Pride Lift Chair works with a low voltage DC motor system that reduces the standard household current (110/115V AC) to a safer 24/39V DC. EXTERNAL TRANSFORMER OPTIONAL WALL MOUNT For some chair models, your external transformer has a molded portion to hang the unit on a wall location directly under the outlet. The screws (not included) must be mounted to the wall stud for security. See “Wall Mount Option” section for mounting pattern. NOTE: Pride is not responsible for damage due to improper installation.
FOOTREST EXTENSION The TMR 575 Lift Chair is equipped with a footrest extension to give added support to taller individuals. This extension adds 5 in. (13 cm) to the end of the footrest while the chair is in the recline position. The footrest extension folds up neatly and is not visible in the seated and lift positions. See figure 10. Figure 10. TMR 575 Extended Footrest

OPERATIONS OPERATIONS CHECK Do not place anything (for example, a drinking glass) on top of or near the external transformer. Keep children and pets away from the recliner while it is in motion. Keep all parts of your body clear of the lift and scissor mechanism. Do not sit or stand on the footrest or the extended footrest. If the external transformer box needs cleaning, unplug from the outlet and use a clean, dry cloth or lightly dampened cloth. If using a dampened cloth, allow ample drying time before plugging back into the wall outlet. STANDARD HAND CONTROL The hand control activates the motors in your lift chair that allow you to sit, stand, or recline. The up/down switch controls movement for the chair positions, as well as back and footrest motion. For DMR/Infinite Series chairs, the lift/recline white slide switch allows for separate functionality between the footrest and back. WARNING! Heed the following precautions to ensure safe operation of your lift chair: Periodically check the hand control and all power cords for visible damage. Keep the hand control away from all heated surfaces. If the hand control gets wet, unplug the transformer from the wall outlet and dry thoroughly before use. Ensure the hand control is out of the way before sitting in the chair.
Keylock Your hand control may be equipped with a keylock feature. To use the keylock, remove the key from the side of the hand control. This disables all functions of the hand control, except the deluxe heat and massage. This also disables the lift and recline functions on the Deluxe Standard and Infinite Series Lift Chairs. To reactivate the hand control, insert the key to restore function. See figure 9. Quick Release Hand Control Your hand control may be equipped with a quick release feature. The quick release is located in the pocket of your lift chair. To use the quick release, unhook the lock and disconnect the attachment to disable all functions or remove the hand control. See figure 9.

FEATURES AND OPTIONS STANDARD FEATURES Your Pride Lift Chair is equipped with certain standard features designed to ensure operator comfort and safety. Thermal Shutoff Your lift chair is equipped with an internal thermal shutoff switch located inside the external transformer that prevents the motor control box from overheating. If motion stops during a lifting cycle, allow the lift chair to remain in this stationary position for 10 minutes. This will allow the motor control box to cool down and reset itself. After cooling down, normal use of your lift chair can resume. If you notice frequent overheating, contact your authorized Pride Provider. Battery Backup During a power failure, your lift chair’s battery backup system will automatically activate. This system is designed to take you from the recline position to the sit position only. Your battery backup system is powered by two 9V alkaline batteries (not included). See figures 7 and 8. For standard chairs, the two battery terminals are located in the external transformer under the marked battery door. For heat and massage chairs, the two battery terminals are located on the bottom of the external transformer. Replace the door after the batteries are installed. NOTE: For heat and massage chairs, the flashing red light on the transformer indicates when battery power is low or depleted. NOTE: Always make sure your lift chair’s battery backup system is equipped with two fresh 9V alkaline batteries, since the system does not recharge itself. Fresh batteries are defined as 9V alkaline batteries that are replaced every time the battery backup system is activated during a power failure, or once a year if the battery backup system has not been activated. NOTE: If you unplug your lift chair for an extended period of time (more than one hour), remove the batteries. The lift chair will draw power from the batteries even when it is not in use.
Removable Back Pad The DMR 670 and TMR 450 Lift Chairs are equipped with a removable back pad. This pad is attached to the lift chair with reusable fasteners to make servicing your chair more convenient and enabling the use of the bed option for the DMR 670. NOTE: If your lift chair is so equipped, put your chair in the recline position before removing and reattaching your back pad, chaise pad, and mattress. 20
