EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO SELL THE LIFTMASTER BG 3000-B1 BARRIER GATE OPERATOR The Basics FRAME Weatherproof, heavy gauge, pregalvanized steel with powdercoat finish. Top and side have access cover with key lock. MOTOR Leeson 1/2 horsepower, single capacitor, 115 VAC. GEARBOX 60:1 wormgear reduction sealed in a synthetic lubricant that won’t thicken in cold temperatures. LIMIT SWITCHES A simple, durable arrangement that makes adjusting the switches a snap. ARM SIZE LIMITATIONS Operator can handle gate arms to 12 feet long and weighing up to 10 pounds. ARM SPEED Arm opens in 4 seconds. ARM PIECE (optional) Light and durable for safe and long-lasting operation. INTEGRAL ACCESSORY TRAY The 13 AWG gold zinc plated steel tray provides space for loop detectors, other accessories and LiftMaster’s Power Fail Operation option (see below). DIMENSIONS 17 inches wide by 17 inches deep by 44 inches high. OPERATOR POWER 115 VAC, 60 Hz using dedicated 15 amp or 20 amp circuit. On/Off switch provides easy power disconnect during installation and servicing. ACCESSORY POWER 24 VAC power connections are provided for radio receiver and accessories such as loop detectors. Two 115 VAC power receptacles provided as well. CONTROL INPUTS Operator has separate inputs for Manual Open, Close and Stop (used for three button station), Cycle (used for devices such as telephone entry, etc.), Fire, Radio Receiver, Exit Loop, Interrupt Loop, Shadow Loop, and Interrupt Bar. “Cycle” and "Radio" inputs may be set to operate in push to open/push to close manner. Each input is protected against voltage spikes by surge suppressers and opto-isolators. RIGHT/LEFT OPERATION Switch on the logic board lets installer specify whether gate opens right or left. TIMER Adjustable up to 250 seconds. POWER FAIL OPERATION This option can be ordered pre-installed or in kit form. Includes DC motor, 12 (Optional) volt gel cell battery, larger V belt, and motor control relays (mounted on a bracket which secures battery to accessory tray). Battery charging circuitry is on the control board. No auxiliary limit switches to install. May be set to drive gate to open limit or to close limit when AC power fails. Built-in momentary delay ensures that brown-outs do not cause “false starts”. WARRANTY 3 years on mechanical assemblies and 2 years on electronics. MASTER/SLAVE CAPABILITY Simplifies wiring and gate control, and enhances safety for dual gate operation. The BG 3000-B1 supports 4 Master/Slave configurations: Bi-Part, Bi-Parting Latch, Trap and Tandem. LOOP DETECTORS (optional) Plug directly into the control board, reducing cumbersome wiring. Combined with the separate inputs for every type of device, these LEDs make installation and troubleshooting a snap. DYNAMIC BRAKING Provides quick, precise stopping of the gate and eliminates gate coasting. TAILGATING SUPPRESSION When a car enters and then clears the Interrupt loop while the gate is opening, the operator stops the gate and starts to close it. If a second car comes onto the Interrupt loop, the gate stops but does not reverse direction. When the Interrupt loop clears (presumably by second car backing off loop), the operator finishes closing the gate. This feature may be turned off if not needed. IMPROVED SAFETY CAPABILITIES If the gate hits an object when opening or closing, the operator stops and backs up to disengage from the object. The operator can be set to suspend operation immediately if it hits something, or to try up to two additional times to continue its operation before suspending operation. Operator has separate sensitivity adjustments for detecting obstructions during opening and during closing. The installer can make allowances for gates not be traveling on a level surface (to make setting less sensitive going uphill since the uphill travel feels like resistance to the operator).
