About This Guide This guide gives the basic information necessary to install a Land LSP Linescanning Thermometer. In order to operate the linescanner it must be connected to a Land LSP Processor, which provides the necessary power and signal conditioning. More detailed information is contained within the LSP Linescanning Thermometer and LSP Processor User Guides. It is important to check the equipment with which you have been supplied to ensure that all ordered items, including accessories have been delivered.
Notes If the linescanner is to be used in an area of ambient temperature higher than that specified, then the linescanner must be cooled, utilising a cooling system available from Land Instruments. If the linescanner is to be used in an area where the atmosphere contains a high proportion of dust/smoke/steam etc, then the linescanner must be used in conjunction with an air purge incorporated into the linescanner baseplate, to keep the scanning window clean. An air purge system is available from Land Instruments International.

Installation Accessories A range of installation accessories are available from Land Instruments International to aid installation of the Land LSP Linescanning Thermometer and to ensure that the equipment is compatible with the intended application environment. These accessories are ordered separately from the main instruments, using the specific order numbers as detailed below. For further information, see LSP System Mountings and Accessories Installation Guide.
1.
Basic Mounting Baseplate - [031.520]
This plate fits onto the base of the thermometer housing and provides a basic stable mount with fixtures. This accessory is recommended in environments where the ambient temperature does not exceed 60°C / 140°F and air purging is not required.
2.
Right Angle Mounting Bracket - [031.438]
This mounting bracket is supplied with fixtures and is pre-drilled to allow mounting to either the Basic Baseplate or the Water Cooled Air Purge Baseplate.
3.
Water Cooled Air Purge Baseplate - [031.496]
This accessory fits onto the base of the thermometer and utilises a quick-release system. The plate is water cooled and is also provided with an air purge that ensures the scanner window is kept free from dirt and any other airborne particles. This accessory is recommended for use in environments where the ambient temperature is between 60°C / 140°F and 100°C / 212°F and/or there is a high concentration of airborne particles which may contaminate the scanner window. The water and air services must be provided by the user.
4.
Water Cooled End Plate Kit - [092.687]
Water cooled end plates replace the standard end plates and are designed to compliment the water cooled, air purge baseplate accessory when the LSP Linescanning Thermometer is installed into environments where ambient temperatures are in the range of 100 to 120°C / 212 to 248°F. 5.
Air Cooled End Plate Kit - [092.688]
Air cooled end plates replace the standard end plates and are recommended when the LSP Linescanning Thermometer is installed into environments where ambient temperatures are in the range of 60 to 80°C / 140 to 176°F and where water cooling is unacceptable.

Isolation The instrument must be electrically isolated. The mountings and accessories provide the necessary isolation. Note: If isolation is not ensured, the possibility of an 'earth loop' forming, greatly increases.
Not to scale
Cable Length
The cable length should not exceed 15m/49.2ft. The cable may be cut to length to suit the application. For connection details see LSP Processor Installation Guide.
Laser Alignment Switch (Model Dependent)
The Laser Alignment tool is used to aid the positioning of the linescanner, ensuring accuracy at the target area. Press the button to activate the laser. The button flashes to indicate laser operation. Press the flashing button to cease laser operation. Note: Temperature information is not available when the laser is active.
Plug Orientation
Orientate the plug to match the linescanner connector. Apply gentle downwards pressure to lock the plug onto the connector. To remove the plug, pull the locking sleeve upwards. The plug, when inserted, conforms to sealing standard IP65.
Scan Direction Indicator
The Scan Direction Indicator shows the direction of the scan when projected onto the target area.
Instrument I.D. Label
The instrument I.D. label gives information about the linescanner unit including instrument type and serial number.
