Rules (Spielregel) from http://www.zoch-verlag.com/de/index_spiele.cfm?Sektion=297 Translated from German to English using http://www.google.com/language_tools LOS MAMPFOS Remember what’s in the back! by Maja Dorn & Rüdiger Dorn A clever game for 2 to 5 players aged 6 and up. Three merry donkeys out of Mexico love eating oat cakes more than anything. So they are always circulating on the beaten path around the mill. The miller has more oats packed away. If a donkey has had his fill, then he lifts his Tail and plops out some pies; he will again have space in his belly. The players collect the pies along the way and give them to the baker as fuel to heat his oven. The baker can then bake more oat cakes next morning. Game pieces and preparation Form a circular path with the 12 Fields (octagons). Place the (colored wooden) Oat Discs in the center. Place the 3 wooden donkeys so that there are 3 fields between each pair. Everyone gets a Color-Selection Wheel. Before you play, fasten the arrow as show for each Color-Selection Wheel. Place the 40 Action Cards in a pile beside the path. On the backs of the 40 Actions Cards you will find the Letters “A” to “H”. First, arrange the cards into Piles according to each letter and mix each individual Pile well. Then, form a common Pile from these Piles, starting with Pile “H”, and placing Pile “G” over it, then Piles “F”, “E”, “D”, “C”, “B”, and finally on top Pile “A”. Now put the common Pile beside the circular path. Goal of the game While the donkeys walk along the circular path, you feed them oat discs. If the donkeys are full, they lift their Tails and leave the digested oats behind in the grass. If you remember the color of the oat discs the donkey ate, then you can collect them. The player who collects the most oat discs wins. Start the game Whoever can best copy a donkey goes first; play continues clockwise. Draw the top Action Card and follow the action. What do you see on the Cards? “Feed and move me!” The munching donkey Card The color of the Card indicates which of the three donkeys to move. The picture and the number on the Card indicate how may oat Discs to feed it and how many Fields if moves forward; e.g., The Brown Donkey eats 3 more Oat Discs… and goes 3 Fields. There are also wild Cards that look like this: If you draw a three-colored donkey, you may select whichever donkey you want to feed and move. First you feed it. You may select the colors of the Oat Discs which you feed to the donkey. So that all the players know what you did, you announce the color of the Oat Discs. Subsequently, you move the donkey that you fed as many Fields in the clockwise direction as the number indicated on the Card. If the donkey would move to an occupied Field, then you place it on the next free Field. Example 1: Pablo draws the grey donkey with “3” (fig. A). So it need to be fed three arbitrary Oat Discs form the center. Pablo decides on one green and two yellow Oat Discs – feeding them thusly to the grey donkey, and clearly calling each color out. Then Pablo moves the donkey three Fields ahead; however the brown donkey is already there, so Pablo jumps the grey donkey over the brown donkey (fig. B). The donkey lets fall a load Card The color of the donkey on the card indicates which donkey lets fall a load. If you draw this wild Card, you may select which donkey lets fall a load. Before you raise the donkey’s Tail so that it can let a load fall, everyone must first secretly select a color on their Color-Selection Wheel. Which color should you select on your Color-Selection Wheel? If you think there are more of a certain color of Oak Discs in the donkey, then you should select that color. But: “Pssst… Tell no one!” Your fellow players will also secretly select on their own Color-Selection Wheels. Everyone puts their covered Color-Selection Wheel on the table – only then do you lift the Tail of the specific donkey. Make sure all the Oat Discs come out of the donkey. As soon as the donkey is completely empty, uncover everyone’s Color-Selection Wheels. Distributing the dropped Oat Discs • • • • • Whoever selected “Red” gets the dropped Red Oat Discs. Whoever selected “Green” gets the dropped Green Oat Discs, &c. However, if several players have selected the same color, then these players evenly split the dropped Oat Discs of that color among them. If there is a remainder, no one get this (see Example 2). If there are not enough Oat Discs for all players who selected a particular color, then none of these players get any Oak Discs (see Example 2). If a player selects a color and there are no Oak Discs of that color dropped by the donkey, then the player receives nothing. Any Oat Discs not distributed to the players are returned to the belly of the donkey. “Oats from the donkey are valuable!” Example 2 Carla was the only player to select “Green” and therefore gets the two green Oak Discs. Rafael and Pablo both selected “Yellow”. Since there are three yellow Oat Discs in the droppings, each of them gets only one. The third yellow Oat Disc returns again to the belly of the donkey. Pedro and Maria both selected “Orange”. In the droppings, however, there was only one orange Oat Disc. Therefore neither of them gets an Oat Disc. This Oat Disc also returns into the belly of the donkey. There were also the red and two blue Oat Discs, but because no one selected “Red” or “Blue”, they also return to the belly of the donkey. End of game and the Winner When the STOP card is drawn, each donkey still has one last dropping. The player who drew the STOP card may determine with which donkey to begin. Successively, for each donkey, the players select colors and distribute the Oat Cakes. Then play ends. Now each player counts their Oat Cakes with no regard for color. The player with the most Oat Cakes wins. If several players have the most Oat Cakes, then they all tie. Zoch © 2006 Authors: Maja Dorn & Rüdiger Dorn Illustrations: Gabriela Silveira
